Update : Vista dome Coaches have been added in Mangalore - Yesvantpur Express, don't miss the journey. Enjoy one of the most exciting and spine chilling Train journeys during the Monsoons deep inside the Western Ghats on the Hassan - Mangalore Railway line in Karnataka State. Sakleshpur- Subhramanya Shiradi Ghat Section. The section is prone to land slides every year during monsoons hence making it a extremely dangerous route, yet very very Scenic.
The trains here are hauled by Braker Locomotives while descending the Ghat section for additional braking.
In order to travel by Vista dome Coach Book your tickets in the following Trains :
06575 / 6 or 06211/ 2 YPR to MAJN or MAJ to YPR, Book in Exec. Chair Car (EC) CLASS,
Locomotive : KJM WDG3A Triplets 3100 HP X 3.
Location : Sakleshpur - Subhramanya Road Ghat Section.
Karnataka, South Western Railways.

In Gujarat we always strive for such a heavenly ride of thick forests Only a small portion of such forest ride we find in gir forest. But no match to this train ride. Even North East train ride and konkan railway ride is awesome

Its amazing, I'm not surprised even shocked to saw such trains were running in such beautiful mountain by Indian Railways I am from Pakistan Kindly tell me how many trains were going such areas and also tell me till how much height from see level these trains can run GOOD WORK DONE INDIAN RAILWAYS PAKISTAN RAILWAYS MUST IMPROVE THEIR STANDARD AND PERFORMANCE LIKE INDIAN RAILWAYS

Now trains are stopped in this section. After opening you can plan the journey. This is a tri weekly train. Plan with family and opt for non ac seats. You will see heaven. Try fresh cooked food served on badam leaf plates, cardamom tea, pakodas in evening too. Believe me the water gushing from above is purer than expensive bottled water.

Shiradi ghat is a pleasent ghat to travel, i travelled in Bike, car, Bus, and train , always super experience , earleir big pat holes on roads was d problem , now after concrete its awsome to drive, Train experience on ghat is enteirly different

Heavenly feeling. You can enjoy the nature . The journey is enjoyable if you are lucky enough to get a window seat. As we can not stand for 2 to 3 hours in the door. Train goes slow in ghat section for passengers safety.

Sir, Two years ago we four male passengers travelled by this route from Bengaluru to Mangalore by Train No.161515. But the journey by this route was the most boring one even though the train passes through Western ghats. The train was hauled by three locomotives but yet the speed that it was going made the journey really boring plus the heat added to the misery. Perhaps there's a lot of difference travelling by Konkan Railways and this rout was really superb and we enjoyed this journey between Mangalore and Madgaon.

Marvellous scenery! I remember reading about the opening of the Hassan - Mangalore section in the late seventies when I was in college. It was the last metre gauge track to be built in India. After that the railways took a policy decision to end metric. Sometime during the nineties, the route was converted to broad gauge. That took a long time which is understandable considering the work involved in widening the dozens of tunnels and redesigning the numerous bridges to accommodate the new, wider trains.

Bangalore to Mangalore IR Routes very nice. जुलाई, अगष्ट आउर सेप्टेम्बर माहिना म्यांगालोर घुमने जाने का अच्छा समय है। म्यांगालेर जिले का एक गांव में Wind Mail Fan fitting करने का मौका मिला था 1992 साल मार्च माहिना में। हाम नहीं गया था उसि समय बेलगांव जिला को भुखरामाट्टि गांव पर गया था उइन्ड मेल फ्यान फिटिंग करने लगे। Wind Mail Fan मतलब हाओया से पांखा घुमेगी अर माटी के नीचे से पानी निकलेगा।
