Daniel, thanks for sharing your vast expertise on heads up poker. Please write a book where you elucidate the general principles on how best to objectively analyze one's decisions in heat of heads up challenge. Moreover, can you list ways to extract maximum value on made hands, drawing hands, etc. so players can aspire to play at professional level every game even in home games. Other tips might include how to improve mental clarity for peak performance and psychology during the variance of heads up challenges. Thanks again Jungleman for helping to advance the game to the next level of understanding for all players.

Because your king can be more often dominated, and rarely win big pots against other raisers, and 4-8 can win bigger pots.

5:46 Defend a 43% range from the BB. Nowadays people in husngs are defending 90%
@johnmorgan233

SNG tourney is very different from cash. Depends on your stack size to BB ratio, which quickly goes to a lower number in tournaments, but in cash games you are often 100 or 200 BB deep.
@GrandmaBetty1945
@GrandmaBetty1945 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah but here he is advocating defending 43% from the big blind, in cash games 100bb deep. He's bleeding so much money there that a poor player who defends 70% will have better long term results than a great post flop player who defends 43%. Defending the other half of the range is more difficult but standard nowadays, even in husngs out of position and shorter stacked. Cates is a genius but this is outdated. I quit playing HU (SNGs though) 4 years ago because edges keep getting thinner and rake is increasing now PS bought full tilt. I think that online poker is dying slowly

wallythewhale I agree with what you said. It is outdated, but depending on the audience not terrible advice. However, lower edges and higher rakes lead to no fun.

Are you playing competitively in online poker? I was heavily involved for 7 years. I chose for my education instead, and I don't regret it. I just watch these from time to time because I like what online poker once was. I respect anyone who is taking a shot at making a living from online poker. But I am disgusted by the management of pokerstars and I believe that the old days with the dream of getting rich from online poker aren't coming back

Why fold K8s pre but call 48s?
@EricSmyth4Christ
@EricSmyth4Christ 9 жыл бұрын
because of the defend range. It has K9 in it. Lets just use that for an example. If our opponent folds 94 (Which dominates 84) but plays K9 which doesn't dominate 84, why play K8, which will never get in with an opponents hand, where the opponent is dominated and will sometimes get in with KQ type hands where our hand is dominated?

Railgun Gamer Is that even what he says to do? Q8 can make straight draws, and K8 cannot.

K8 is in both the sb open and bb calling range for GTO. It's all in the 4bet bluffing range 100% of the time along with A2 and A3. K7 is also in the 4bet bluffing range although only 13 percent, 87% fold if 3betted. This is for balance because players will sometimes fold to a 4bet and it's better if they're not always folding to TT+ or AKs/o

Defend 43% in bb? That's very different from what most players do nowadays I think. I see mostly like 80% among regs
@RoboticusMusic
@RoboticusMusic 7 жыл бұрын
about 54% is GTO.
@RoboticusMusic

I get excited when I see a donk with 70%+ bb on my HUD in HU. I've seen it all, nobody knows how to play HU. Some people will play tighter on the sb than the bb lmao sb 81% bb 54% is GTO. Playing + or - 5% more than that is like -10 bb/100 given that postflop is perfect, which HU donks are even worse at typically.
@mumming1
@mumming1 7 жыл бұрын
Wow really? In 100bb games? 10bb/100 sounds like a lot to lose on such a small variation
@RoboticusMusic
@RoboticusMusic 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're not in the GTO range because they're below break even holdings. An average player could easily lose a lot more than 10bb/100 by playing looser than GTO ranges because you might hit that 7 on the flop with a 72o and call a cbet only to have to fold later.

You think Polk and Jungleman heads up (out of 10 matches) stand a chance against guys like Ivey? Antonious? Durrrr? And those are just the "known" names. Most Professional high stakes chinese poker players would eat them both alive. I'd even pick Cates and Negreanu over them. Juanda would even come out on top. lol
