Lorenzo could be worth 100 billion. It doesn't mean he can pay his fighters more. Its all about how good the UFC looks on paper.

Lorenzo probably just fired the fighters if they stepped out of line with him. So nobody dared to pressure him. Also he's also very respectful when he talks with someone.

Had Jorge beat Usman and won the title he would've had the most leverage to renegotiate..The flip side is if he lost then all his leverage would've been gone..If he fights and beats Nate again he's still gonna be stuck in the same spot he is now

Dana is a business man and he probably saved crazy amounts just for not speaking reasonably because he scared the fighters out of asking for more unless they proved themselves which is actually kinda fair

Lorenzo was able to be the “good guy” and let Dana and Joe Silva be the “bad guys”. If Lorenzo was such a great guy he would have changed the business model to send more of the profit the fighters way. He was very comfortable with the low pay the fighters were making as it lined his pockets and built up the makings of a 4B + sale.

Masvidal had a great year, no doubt. but he needs to take a back step and look a his record again... plus, yeah he won his last 3 fights,,, but Daren Till was young and he just lost his fight before that. Ben Askren can't fight and Nate Diaz got stopped by a cut I'ts all hype... Usman would eat him

Think he realizes that Usman is a terrible matchup for him. I predict Usman dominates that fight and Masvidal will lose his leverage with the UFC. In short, Masvidal doesn’t want to fight Usman. I’m not saying he’s scared, I’m saying he doesn’t want to fight him.

You guys aren't getting it. The issue is that fighters shouldn't have to beg Dana & co. to pay them a fair PERCENTAGE of the revenue that they generate. Is 18% fair, when it's 50% in many other pro sports? THAT is the issue that Dana is trying to stop from being broached publicly.

@@WayneLynch69 UFC has kind of a monopoly right now so they can try to dictate what the fighters are getting, but I predict that some or all of these top level fighters are going to jump ship to Bellator once their contracts are over. Not Jon Jones, though. He would have to lose his title and then have another one or two fights before his contract ends. I don't see any fighter losing his title in a fight on purpose, and they can't vacate it without having to fight in UFC again.

A few thoughts, I’ve negotiated contracts and project bids my entire career. Don’t ask for impossible figures, you lose credibility and leverage. It has to make sense based on market and historical data, not because you feel” you deserve it. Don’t be desperate to clean the house or come out dominating the negotiation. Masvidal can’t compare his legacy to “white knight” commentators like DC or Chael. He is new money...also, he better thank Diaz for the big pay day. Dude was a journeyman with 50/50 record before Tillman win last year

The ufc makes a boat load of money off of their fighters. The ufc can easily pay their fighters more. Daniel Cormier was asking for something very reasonable. He was the strike force tournament champion at the time. It's not like he was asking for a million. Ufc are very cheap with their fighters, that's all.

UFC fighters should definitely get paid more BUT if you divide the amount of “matches” wwe wrestlers have to do a year by their yearly salary, most UFC fighters actually make more per fight/match. And since UFC is really fighting they can’t fight as frequently as WWE wrestlers.

One thing DC never mentioned between his contract negotiations in 2013 and after. UFC rarely lets a fighter fight out his/her contract anymore, especially after Rory MacDonald, Gregard Mousasi, Phill Davis fought out there deals and went elsewhere. They now offer new deals with extended fight contracts while fighters are still in the middle of there current deal. Then they strongarm fighters by withholding fights or put fighters on the shelf until a new deal has been reached. Thats why you hardly see fighters testing out free agency anymore from the UFC unless they get cut that is or they are getting up in age and it makes sense to part ways.

Dana has never been paying fighters fairly. The amount of revenue earns compared to the fighters revenue is quiet disgusting. Now that top fighters are refusing business, hopefully dana wont be as greedy and give these people what the deserve.

I want to see all the fighters get paid more but its tough for guys like Masvidal because he doesnt have a title as leverage and the ufc has shown they will just move onto the next guy in line who will fight for less unfortunately

the difference is that negotiating behind closed doors might help you get the money, But Masvidal wants EVERY FIGHTER to get what they all deserve, not just the top draws.

UFC should give more fight bonus 20,000 submission win in first round 40,000 for first round KO 50,000 for first round submission and KO in under 20 seconds and 35,000 for at the buzzer KO in any round plus what the fighter is making for the fight . Just my thoughts

Translation is don't let Daniel Cormier or his manager negotiate anything for you. Instead of high balling the offer he wanted, he asked for what he wanted. You will always get less if you just ask for exactly your fair market value. Let this be a lesson in negotiations for all of you ask for the moon and stars and settle for the house and land. If you ask for the house and land all you'll get is a shack.
