With “Escape to Paradise - The Hollywood Album” Daniel Hope shines a new light on the Sound of Hollywood.
With this album, Daniel Hope takes a widescreen musical journey, seeking out the echoes of exiled European composers, such as John Waxman or Hanns Eisler, with the famous Violin concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold as the center piece.
It also contains contemporary soundtrack classics such as Schindler´s List, American Beauty and Cinema Paradiso to reflect on the strong musical influence the Exile composers had and still have on contemporary film composers.
Guest artists are no one less than Sting and German singer phenomenon Max Raabe .
“Escape to Paradise” is both a historical and musical concept, curated by Daniel Hope, to a theme that he has personal associations for: his maternal grandparents fled Hitler’s Germany for South Africa, and his parents then fled the apartheid regime for England

Beautiful version performed by Daniel Hope and the "Royal Stockholm Philarmonic". Rozsa has been the first film composer with a highly personal style to work in Hollywood. The music of "El Cid" is a masterpiece.

Diese Arrangements funktionieren ganz wunderbar. Ich kenne die Originale ziemlich gut, das hier ist fast noch besser. Filmmusik aus einer besseren Zeit. Als noch echte Könner am Werk waren. Nicht diese Elfmans und Zimmers von heute.

How often do you see the name of the arranger, like here? To be fair to Daniel Hope he mentions me at every opportunity and is very appreciative of my work but so often recordings appear on which my name is absent. I tried to make this glorious music sound as glorious as it deserves to be and I’m so pleased you recognised that. Thank you.

Es una pena que Rózsa no escribiera sendas sinfonías a partir del riquísimo material que compuso para las bandas sonoras de Quo Vadis, Ben-Hur, Rey de Reyes, El Cid y Sodoma y Gomorra. Qué compositor y qué partituras!!!!
