Daniel's original comments were made decades ago. He has admitted now that he's an adult, he does watch the films. He stated in the 20th anniversary special that he & his father watch them together. And at the time of filming that special he stated that he looks forward to one day watching them with his own kids. He's now a father himself to a baby boy born last summer.

Small correction: I’m pretty sure in the 20th anniversary special what he was commenting on was how grateful he was to have played a part in the movies that played such a huge part in people’s lives, and then brought up how fans have for example said to him that the Harry Potter movies are the only thing they and their father can connect over. So it wasn’t actually his experience, but the experience a fan had shared with him. Not meaning to discredit your point at all, I just wanted to add that 😅

What people might not understand is it’s more so the nostalgia and missing the people and experiences daniel has had on set, A LOT of the cast have died such as snape and hagrid, and that would hurt to see them again. Also daniel radcliffe has stated he was a bad alcoholic and if he sees scenes, it reminds him of how drunk he was

As someone who's performed leading/main roles in high school theater, I can absolutely attest to how Dan is feeling here. I have DVD recordings from 10 years ago of plays we put on where I was the lead role, and to this day I STILL can't bring myself to watch them. I know I did a good job... but it's just too cringe to re-experience that part of my life again.

I don't think that these actors and actresses realize.... Just how much they impacted me with these movies. The music in these movies especially the first one, really gets to my soul. And makes me cry. I wish they could see these movies as i did. I always deal with mental or physical health issues daily, but these movies made me feel like their really is magic and it exists. We sometimes have to create our own magic in this world. By being kind and understanding to everyone you meet. At least the ones that deserve it ❤️🥹

I have a special place in my heart for the Harry Potter books. I read the first book all the way through three times. I did that mostly for therapy because I was going through some very rough times in my life. Reading those books was therapy since I would not think about my situation. So thank you, everyone associated with Harry Potter. It might have saved my life.😊

This type of comment amongst actors is a common occurrence I’ve noticed. Hayden Christianson-Anakin, Ryan Gosling. Both these actors in my opinion are spectacular. People are used to highly expressive actors so when they see one who isn’t they say it’s bad acting. far from the truth. In real life Ryan gosling is a monotone guy. His not very expressive. Acting is not about being expressive. Acting is the ability to be completely present and AUTHENTIC in that moment. when this is achieved you feel it. It’s like music. It almost vibrates. Ensnaring your connect with their performance emotionally.

Imagine people constantly call you by a characters name and play you a song over and over because of a role you did! Lots of actors get tired of their most popular role! And Dan has said the early movies are hard because he doesn't think he's good in them and the later ones are hard to watch because he was drinking a lot and he knows which scenes he was super drunk in and that is painful to watch! Just because they made him rich doesn't mean he has to watch them. I kinda assume most actors don't watch their own movies or shows I know much of the friends cast don't!

Tom Felton is such an unbelievably wholesome man. Daniel's not a bad guy either mind you, and some of his edge earlier in life is pretty understandable and never became outright malicious or aggressive towards fans of the series, but Tom's always just been such a cool and humble guy.

I think Tom's idea of watching the entirety with his children would be really, really powerful. If I was part of something like Harry Potter, I'd be so honoured and excited to watch my babies watch it with me. As it is, just reliving the memories of being a little third grader and going with my school on a field trip to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in theatres the week it came out is amazing. My daughter is barely old enough to care 😂 (almost 6) and she really, really wants to watch it. We watched star wars with her lately and she LOVED it. Complained it was super long hahah (watched a New Hope with her) but she said she loved it.
