I love Deep Sap Green’s color depth too! For others, if perhaps the artwork strictly follows museum conditions or the recommended lighting situations when displaying paintings, then there would be nothing to worry about.

Wow the Zoisite Genuine’s granulation is simply brilliant ! Perylene Green is fast becoming indispensable for me. Where is Undersea Green though? It is IMHO one of the most versatile greens by Daniel Smith. Would love to hear your take. 😊

Zoisite is strikingly beautiful! From the Daniel Smith line, I'd say that Sap Green and Perylene Green are my indispensable ones. As for Undersea Green, I agree with your observation when it comes to versatility. I used to have lots of this convenience watercolor and when I ran out, I simply made my own mix using PB29, PO48, and PY150. Having an Undersea Green tube though saves a lot of time. We can't talk about Undersea Green without bringing in Cascade Green into the mix, no pun intended. Currently, I just create my own mix until I run out of the constituent colors/pigments. Please allow me to mention that I am working on a Quinacridone by Daniel Smith video. I'll upload this one soon. Perhaps the Quinacridones will be of interest too?

I have several of these…I love green apatite, sap greens, but the fuchsite is just not useful for me…I might add serpentine and zoisite soon…

You will love Serpentine Zoisite! I can see why Fuchsite may not be useful for some. It has specific uses and in my case, I use it mainly as a glaze or to add depth and vibrancy when working on waterfront-themed projects.

Hello! Yes, PY129 is a constant on my palette and a video on this pigment will be published soon! I will be featuring Daniel Smith's Rich Green Gold (PY129) and their convenience mixture, Green Gold (PY150, PY3, PG36).

@@stiviwonders beautiful thanks :) i’m really curious how the green gold mix looks in comparison to these in this video :) as i’m trying to figure out if it’s a colour i should add along with the sap green :) i currently have the serpentine genuine, green apatite genuine and perylene and wasn’t sure if green gold and sap green would be welcome additions :)

Thank you for elaborating it further! You already have some of the best green pigments then. Those are some of my favorite green watercolors! Sometimes, to recreate a Sap Green, I would combine a little bit of Serpentine Genuine with Green Apatite, just to get that hint of yellow. I guess, I'll try to capture this in my next video. PY129 has a special place but when it is not within reach, I'd use Serpentine as alternative. The result with Serpentine Genuine may not be the same but it gets you somewhere closer, sort of, to what a genuine PY129 can deliver. You're inspiring me to publish the video sooner! I just have Genuine Lapis Lazuli, Caput Mortum and Payne's Gray lined up before the PY129 video. Please allow me to share. I love Daniel Smith's Sap Green and Michael Harding's as well. But currently, my most used Sap Green is from Della Magna Watercolors. You may view it here, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNOSdNVlx6rMpp8.html

@@stiviwonders i will try and play with it a bit more! it’s weird i LOVE serpentine genuine when i see it swatched but whenever i play with it personally it dries with more of the brown than green and i’m always sad with the end result lol. i need to play with the colour a bit more i think and maybe my little pour in my half pan wasn’t properly mixed so i’ll also try to mix up my tube a bit more and try some fresh to see if i’m having the same brown problem lol. i’m actually interested in the green gold mix py150, py3, pg36. i have the green gold traditional py129 in qor. but love the BRIGHT lively colour i see from the ds green gold mix vs the ds rich green gold 🤣. this is clearly why so many colours exist it’s funny how we each have our quirks and favs of what we think a colour “should” look like. i have a sap green from daler rowney aquafine which is breathtaking and my perfect sap green yet here i am pining of the daniel smith one anyway😂 wondering if it’s “better”. i’ll check out that favourite sap green you mention as well 😍. looking forward to the video :)) will keep an eye out 🥰

@lifeledbylove You're not alone there. I've encountered that similar issue a while back, with Serpentine Genuine too and other PrimaTek watercolors, especially with Lapis Lazuli Genuine. So I am guessing that sometimes, it is possible to win the lottery? Did we just receive tubes with uneven distribution of pigments and binders, etc? Just speculating. As a heritage calligrapher, I work with real pigments a lot and most of the time I concoct my own inks. My preference is always centered on artist-grade watercolors that deliver the same richness, clarity, and depth as how they were enjoyed before by the masters in the old days. It's interesting how some brands formulate their colors and how obtrusively bright they can be. Haha! It's always fun to explore though. There is always something to discover. What has helped me throughout this process is to just allow the colors to perform and shine. Each has a purpose.
