Triple monitors won’t reduce lap times during practice with only one car on the track. But they will reduce your average lap times in races by reducing incidents. Trust me, wheel to wheel racing is MUCH easier when you can see the guy beside you!

triple 27inch 1440p here, and i absolute agree with you! There is one more big point that is not sad yet. Triples also give you a way way better immersion factor!!! The experiece is way cooler and all. Only quastion i have, alot of people say that VR is more easy to drive because of of the 3D vision you can really look into corners. And i totally agree and understand this. But still all the great e-sport drivers, als Daniel himself or Max Verstappen. They all go for triples over VR. Why is this? If VR is more easy and you can look into corners better.

I think it comes down to personal preference and what a given driver is used to. Then there is the long term comfort of most vr headsets like during a 45 min race and the lack of ability to interact with the real world if needs be with a vr headset on. Triples are just easier imho.

@@MrJoppashoppaAs someone who has had both VR & now on triples, 1: its easier to run (hardware-wise) 2: visually looks better, without having to compromise graphics to maintain fps in vr. 3: much easier for people who stream / record 4: you can see way more around you without having to take your eyes off of apexes or in front of you. 5: you don't have to struggle to find buttons / shifter / handbrake, or your keyboard. also VR was very fiddly when i was using one, it would almost always randomly stop working properly & i'd have to redo settings or some other bs. triples i just have to press a button & it switches to my 3 sim monitors.

Triples yes, but note your graphics card must be very high-end to handle the fps load. Take a look at application, INI Sidekick to optimize your current card settings.

100% agree with everything and the order at which you rank the upgrades! Everyone thinks the brake is the most important thing (which it is to actually get faster) but with a good load cell brake pedal, you need a solid chassis to put it on, otherwise you negate the benefits of it. You can't use a good load cell brake pedal without a proper chassis but you can use a chassis with a lower end pedal set and it'll be better overall!

Another very helpful and in depth tips for simracers! Good to see Morad always being kind and patient to simracing enthusiasts❤❤. From my piont of view, considering laptime or to begin with the training, I think Pedals are always THE FIRST THING to consider about, that definitely gives more confidence to focus on my braking rather than hesitating whether its me misjudging the braking point or my terrible braking, that sounds like a small one but I have to say it bothers me for a very long time............when I couldn't find out the exact problem I have, it is literally wearing myself out, cuz if the pedals got wrong on braking pressure or the stiffness setting, I just can't get faster, and I have to stop and do the recheck all over again, it's painful! I mean throughout those mid-low end pedals, either they are tricky to hold braking pressure & less adjustable. But once got a nice pedal, set it properly, it just delivers all of my trail braking smoothly, and that leaves me more attention on getting quicker

I agree with all of this, but I went with the wheelbase as one of my first upgrades. The increase in force feedback is what kept me addicted to the hobby and ended up buying way more expensive gear than I would have had I'd gone with the pedals first 💀 When someone first tries this hobby they want to have fun, not necessarily the best hot lap, might not even know the tracks. So as a beginner I would definitely consider upgrading the wheelbase first.

Very good point you make. Either way, you can’t go wrong when you upgrade your equipment. I think that it’s very important though to start with the chassis and then you can pick and choose after that.

Totally, a triple monitor/VR headset must come with a PC that can handle it. Which can be VERY expensive depending what you starting on. Those kind of recommendations depend on what you are starting on I guess. His recommendations make a lot of sense if you factor in lap time and racecraft alone.

Great video! A lot of extremely useful information I, along with many I know wish we had going into this. I'll be on my third rig swap when I pull the trigger in the coming months, and also changing up the wheelbase ecosystem for the third time with it. Logitech/Playseat Challenge is an excellent space saving entry-level setup since it folds up and has good software support and is plug and play. Moved to a Fanatech CSL Elite with V3 pedals and a NextLevelRacing F-GT. Not a perfect combo but it was a notable upgrade. The seat that comes with that chassis is basically two pieces of a weight lifting bench stuck together to make a seat. Ergonomics are challenging to put it lightly. Next step is ASR chassis and Simucube. Maybe even that cube controls Mercedes wheel. 🤔

I have a few content ideas for you, no charge lol. rF2 because I'm super interested to see your thoughts on it. AMS2, also very curious especially after their recent physics/ffb updates. I'd also be really interested to hear your thoughts on sim FFB not being 100% realistic in order to convey enough information to the user to be able to drive the car properly. You're lucky enough to have a motion rig, but if you didn't have that, or you turned it off, would it actually be harder to drive the sim car with a realistic steering feel vs a sim steering feel that most likely has more feedback input to tell you what the car is doing due to lack of body input and feeling.

I bought a used Thrustrmaster T300RS with T3PA-Pro pedals. About 5 months later, my girlfriend and I reconfigured our collector's room to make enough space for his and hers desks, so I have a wheel stand, bought new Th8A shifter, new TSS handbrake and Sparco P310 wheel. That all cost about what a lower Fanatec wheel, base and 2 pedal set would have cost me because I live in Canada, and exchange, especially shipping, and customs charges. But I had a single 24" monitor, then got 2 of our son's 24" monitors, plus had an old 17" flat screen, so I had triples plus the 4th for SimHub, until I picked up a used Acer VR headset. My setup works great for the limited amount of time I get to drive, but also for the space we have - until one of our kids eventually move out! Lol.

I think the biggest mistake I made was not focussing on my PC’s ability to run iRacing or ACC smoothly in the first place. I went from a G27 to DD wheel + load cell pedals and didn’t really go much faster. Later down the line (a year or so) I upgraded my pc because I wanted to run a single 49” ultrawide monitor that my old pc couldn’t handle. Turns out this made the biggest difference to my 1 lap ability (the pc not the monitor).

I feel like the chassis upgrade for a lot of people seems unnecessary to upgrade or even consider before upgrading to a DD, but from my own experience i would say he's definitely right about it. Where i live we have really limited options regarding sim racing stuff, you can't find a single DD wheel base in the whole country (believe me i tried) so i had to buy a g920 even g923 wasn't an option. For my chassis I've designed and build an aluminum profile one and I'm really happy that i did that because you can literally add anything you want to it or modify it however it suits you. If you are tight on budget or it's hard for you to find sim racing products like where i live don't hesitate to go down the DIY route it's really fun and not that hard, I've managed to add a linear E-break and a sequential shifter to my rig even though i play on a Xbox, even designed a quick release for my after market wheels so if i can do it you can do it too.

Then got triple monitors. Then bought an expensive Rig - the rig is such a big ticket item, in terms of price, and space, you want to know you're in the right place (living situation) before committing to it.

That’s awesome. You’ve done so much in your life. In terms of motion, I’d focus more on vibration and very quick motion. DBOX gen 5 is perfect for me. It does it right. Advanced SimRacing sells it and if you used MORADNESSFIVE, you get 5% off the system as well! It’s honestly the best motion platform. In terms of pedals, depends on the budget but VRS or Heusinkveld Sprints are nice. Simucube ActivePedal is the ultimate pedal. Again, discount of 5% off with code morad5 on simucubes site. All depends on budget and how deep you want to get into it.

Just being a bit curious. You talked about catching some corners due to your direct drive wheel motor having a very good response. With your immense real world experience, Do you feel that at times if faced with the same situation in real world you would not be able to catch the vehicle maybe due to some physical limitations i.e(It's just not physically possible to give input that fast to the vehicle with steering wheel) that you would in the sim racing environment? Really curious about it :) and very informative video !!!

Solid reasoning. I assumed you would put pedals (especially brake) at the top of the list, but I suppose you do need something solid to mount them to if they're going to be useful. ,,,and this is just from a hobbyist aiming for a sports car sim, but if it weren't for the cost, I'd put motion higher on the list, as it can give you what feels like an extra quarter second of warning about what the rear of the car is doing. Also in rally, it communicates a lot about the driving surface.

I didn't want to spend the money on motion, so I went the bass shaker route. If you get that setup and tuned properly, then it can give you a lot of the same info as motion, but for a fraction of the cost. And when it comes to tuning the settings, less is more.

How much would I need from my, in that case new PC, if Id ask of it to show two screens extra in 4K each with moving graphics? My current one forces me to dial down som graphics to keep over 60fps on one screen. I really hope I could build a dream rig in the future. The screens them self have gone down so much in price that I think theyd be the least expensive of it all. Recently bought a Moza r5. Absolutely thrilled about it still. But yesterday I went through checking ffb clipping in various cars and realized I needed to lower ffb strength to about 70-80% total. Now Id like some more strength, but Im quicker when its not clipping. So maybe something around 13nm would suffice. Thanks for the brilliant video!

From what i understand they have a kind of refresh rate on them aka How much information you get per second Sent to the wheel makes a big difference, so you can feel the road better. I've seen that refresh rate tested by a few SIM racing KZfaqrs. I'm hoping they make something for the PlayStation to help it get a better refresh rate from the wheel.. From my understanding, moza is currently the best for PS5 but if you want the ultimate experience, play iRacing on PC. Best sim currently. Others are pushing to close the gap but for now, it’s the best all around. Then you use a simucube base with that. It’s insane to feel the difference.

At what juncture should one get a rig? Recreational sim drivers? I dont race but i do practice car control in the sim, just for fun, is a seat and rig the right choice for me? I got a load cell and wheel im happpy with. Still necessary? By the way by rig I meant cockpit 🙂
@danielmorad

If you have a wheel and pedals already, getting a cockpit is a no-brainer. It will transform the feeling of what you have completely. If you don’t want to spend a lot, you can look at something like an ASR3 perhaps and bolt the kit you have now onto it.

VR has come a long way. You can get a very steady 90 fps with a decent computer now. I don't think you need more than 90 fps for sim racing. But it seems like you're commited and happy with triples and like you said, it makes more sense for streaming and engaging with your viewers. But I just want it to get it out there for people who are contemplating VR vs triples.

With all due respect, I agree with Koi. I run a Reverb G2 using an RTX4090 and a Ryzen 5800x. I am able to run the graphics at a very high level with self shadowing even in VR without dipping below 90 fps at any track. Occasionally I am CPU limited for replays but if you take the time, one can dial in lovely smoothness. OpenXR and the OpenXR toolkit helps a bunch.

@@danielmorad That's iRacing and it's miserable optimizations. Looks like you get FPS-drops with Triples as well. In so many videos I saw a graphics-delay with triples means, that the graphical wheel is lagging behind the physical. I never had that with my 49"-displays and with TrackIR I can looks around even more than with triples...

@@richardhodge3310 completely agree with you mate. I also run VR exclusively on iRacing. Specs include i7 12700KF with an RTX 3080 Ti, along with the help of OpenXR and OpenXR Toolkit you will be able to achieve a consistent 90fps. When I switched from WMR to OpenXR that was the game changer. To help with comfort, having a Wind/Speed simulator to add that bit of tactile feedback to give your brain that sense of movement but also keeps you comfortable and cool for extended racing. Buttkickers also help add to that comfort and immersion. VR has definitely come along way even in regards to clarity. Thanks for the list @danielmorad.

@SimRacingExchange
@SimRacingExchange 8 ай бұрын
Load cell pedals don't necessarily make you faster in itself, but they help you maintain better consistency, which then leads you to becoming faster through muscle memory. The thing about them though is you need a solid platform to put them on, like a chassis. Otherwise, you're not going to be able to press with the pressure you need for braking accuracy.

@danielmorad The only problem is that I don't have the space for a full rig. Even if it is on caster wheels. Curved monitors are here, and I know seamless composite LCD screens are available.. I just haven't seen it yet. Curved and seamless appears to be what you have. I see the bezel on the outside, but there doesn't appear to be one at all to the right. What kind of monitors are you using? And, do you think an old play seat like you started with will handle a DD wheel upgrade? I haven't touched the DD yet, so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I'd rather not have to weld it solid LOL

Constructive feedback, Think you seem like a great guy, hope the channel continues to grow. As someone who is not new to the scene but likes this style of content YT, your studio is sweet and you have the IrL position to help sell your online racing channel. That being said hope this all helps: -More b role and real cut scenes with audio continued over top, less straight on face. your a handsome guy and all haha but long camera holds on basic topics that dont need inflection are getting lil drawn out in the same setting on the same topics after watching your catalogue. (Plug away and get that coin but it comes off repetitive when its your branded stuff and just keeps leading to that) - use stock, meme, copyright free, and real world clips more to break up content. Show examples of what ur talking about beyond your own room essentially, i want to see your beast setup after showing a bunch of other less adequate ones haha. Not just always urs. Definitely other ppls stuff and clips used in urs is a great way to add variety. -The music transitions. Ive seen other comments too, you know brother keep that volume down or matched. -use more styles\games in the background to ur audience to hook more, show clips of you driving other games and get people wanting your gear because they relate to you and say ye ill buy his stuff i like him and want that shiii i play that game. Those are the quick ones that come to mind to make it seem less standard youtube in the sea if competition right!. (Great content, great attitude, wish you all the growth on and off the net!) Cheers,

This is a misconception about loadcells. Forst loadcells or hall sensors have no change over how the brake feels like you say my P1000i prove this as ive always used Loadcell but using Hall sensor ive found to be just as accurate when it comes to this application and i cant feel any difference between using loadcell or when i switch it to hall sensor my feet cant tell the difference but if i use loadcell with a lot of travel i find i have to press to hard or mess with the software to make up for this but switching to hall sensor this all goes away and feels much better. I think this miff comes from old school Potentiometer pedals and the reason loadcell was better then was due to how the feel. Normally loadcell had the ability to make them a lot stiffer than their Potentiometer counterparts but if you use hall sensors on pedals with the same rubbers you have on a loadcell set i promise you theres no difference in feel or any difference in my laptimes. For me loadcell is key for drivers who use a stuff brake with little travel but for the driver who wants 2 to 3cm or tracel are better off switching to hall sensor as 4095 on a 100kg loadcell is easy to hit maybe 200kg would be better but the issue is to my knowledge only Simagic offer the option of both loadcell and hall effect sensor on their p1000/i pedals. Just my opinions of corse ❤
