So few pianists are aware of the style of playing prominent in the latter part of the 1800's and early 1900's. Here is a pianist not only with unmatched skill, but a true feel for Liszt's music. A priceless recording. (No, I wasn't there in the late 1800's, but there are many avenues of research, and yes, I do play the piano, but absolutely NOWHERE near this standard).

I've heard so many versions of Liszt's studies, especially this one. I have to tell you ! It's a revelation for me, this artist is a Great one. Not only on the technical aspect but, the most important, his sense and approach of drama in Mazeppa leave me totally amazed and in owe. So much passion in this interpretation, you gave me strong emotions with a piece that I know by heart, yet. It's a discovery ! Sorry if my english is not perfect. Love, Julien from France.

THIS is a masterful performance by an excellent performer. The editing is also perfect, it lets his playing lead you through the performance. How hard is the arrangement he's playing? He's sweating and you can see his hands shaking at times! Bravo. Not many people on this planet could perform a piece to that level.
@bryangl1
@bryangl1 Жыл бұрын
2chrisward Thus isn't an "arrangement", this is Liszt's score,.although the playing is so damned fast, it's hard to keep up with it, reading the score. The challenge is to play the entire set of studies in the one sitting. Remarkable enough without adding any variants. By 'editing' I`guess you mean the vision directing - the cameras all being compact and remote controlled.

Phenomenal! I've not yet seen anyone use Liszt's 2-4 fingering (in the first section), and this proves it's really not necessary if you can do a good staccato.

It's way harder to do 2-4... That's why no one does it. It's simply not necessary. I playing with the rule "it's OK till someone heares the difference " :D

On n'a jamais rien entendu de plus prodigieux, de plus noir, de plus désespéré, de plus intelligent, de plus sensuel depuis Liszt lui-même, (oui oui, j'y étais) ... Merci Daniil
