The fact you can open any DankPods video without ever having watched any other, and understand what he is speaking about is insane. We always get an explanation of the terms, yet it only takes a few seconds to not annoy people who does know. My only confusion when first watching DankPods was the 1 grit - but never anything about the audio related topics, because he explains it so well (and yet so fast)

I just got the Samson SR850s recently, and they sound fantastic! Truly incredible for the price. I was a little worried when I first held them due to them feeling so light, but they truly spoke to me. Sound is comparable to headphones 6-8 times their price. Earl Sweatshirt and John Coltrane have never sounded so amazing. This is the beginning of my headphone journey. It only goes up from here. Thank you, DankPods.

I got the same ones and was disappointed to see that the rtings consensus states that the superlux 681s are better in every way, and that the samsons have bad treble accuracy, which I agree with. I also don't really like the feel that much. To each his own though. Good luck on your journey!

A little tip from an HD 58x owner: take out the foam on the outward-facing side of the drivers. This mod improves the cans by literal miles. To get the foam out, you take off the pads and the foam its resting against, take a long, thin implement like a screwdriver and put it through one of the holes on the cups, and then carefully push the metal mesh out from the earcup. Just take the foam out of the mesh, put the mesh back in, and re-install the pads. When I first got the 58x's, it sounded like I was listening to music with socks over my ears. Then I did this mod and the detail just picked right up, it's great.
@MegaPhill932 жыл бұрын
a hero pop out of nowhere
@taimurjamil47902 жыл бұрын
I would argue otherwise. While taking the foam out might improve the sound (subjective), it would be at the cost of exposing your headphone drivers to dust and what not. Worse case scenario, you accidentally knock off your drink and some of it enters the driver. The foam is there for a reason. Now, you could argue then why the HD600 doesn't have a foam as well? my answer is that the exposed driver is well protected by its inner plastic housing.
@doritos65482 жыл бұрын
Nah, sound wise it doesn't do anything. Sennheiser confirmed this, in their massdrop forum they mentioned how the foam is acoustically invisible. The foam makes no difference to the sound, it is only there to protect against dust and other yucky stuff.

My first set of pro cans were the K92s (pre-samsung) and I must say the focus is deffo on the sound! However, they are fragile and after only 3 months, the cable had cut out. I fixed them myself, they lasted for another year and then I upgraded to the Beyerbabes DT-880 Pro. All in all, both have bomb-ass sound, but the Beyers won't fall apart so easily.

The metal parts on the K52s (and K72s!) Are part of why I own a pair of K72s! There always the question of how do you get the music from one side to the other? Premium options tend to have two cables but if you're saving a buck and only want one you run the wire up through the headband somehow. K240s (and clones) had the idea of the rubber coating the wires and making them nice and stiff and that is the headband! K52/72 room it one step further and that almost sprung steel band IS THE WIRE. It may not be the "best" sounding headphone but I love it for the ingenuity and creativity that went into the design (even if it's a but flawed)
