This morning, with a belly full of grass and surrounded by the people that love him, my Dan was put to rest. Words are not enough to say how much this pony means to me, he has been my best friend for over half of my life and I can hardly remember a time without him. He watched me grow up and made so many of my hopes and dreams a reality. Over the last few years his Cushing’s and EMS has worsened, and with our best efforts at keeping him comfortable no longer working, we knew that the time had come for him to gain his wings and be pain free forevermore. He spent the whole morning eating whatever his heart desired (and as much as his belly would allow!) and went peacefully in my arms with the birds chirping around him. He is the best pony I ever knew, and I will spend the rest of my life missing him and telling people of all our stories. I know he touched so many of your hearts as well, and I want to say thank you for all of the love you gave him - I promise that he went knowing just how loved he is.
