i find it funny when marto says "didn't know he could run more than 15m" - Cipriani has pace like an outside back... a serious outside back!

I think Lancaster does view him as a potential England 10, but wants to see him in action over here! He certainly has the X factor. When he played for wasps he was great to watch!

@rygipeldroed111 so true! thats why he flourished too during his stint with the wasps! he flourished when they allowed him to use his creativity. he was confined to such slow style rugby when he played for them. he was slowed down by the teams tactics.

As Stuart Barnes commented sometime ago.......do you want your 10 stuck at the bottom of a ruck or a maul or do you want him out there ready and waiting for the next play?? I don't think his defence is that bad, he wants to be setting up the next play

@Punnarniman yeah, except with more pace, doesnt help that his club doesnt really pick him anymore either. Hopefully he can pick up some form and the new england coach will pick him. Him and Manu Tuilagi would be insane!

@VReyland91 I hear what your saying but it's the same issue Australia & Queensland had with Quad Cooper 2-3 years ago, he couldn't tackle for toffee, but they stuck with him and made him learn to front up. Come the world cup he could handle it. I think if he'd been in England's 22 at the very least, covering fly half and full back over the same period he would have been more than up to the tasks. When management doubt you, you inevitably doubt yourself. Believe is a powerful ally.

@TheSpringbok23 well said, agree tindall should go, would like to see manu tuilagi in the centre though and maybe ugo monye for mark cueto?? But definately agree SA and England need to play different styles, neither is bad.

@SirBurgundy Even if he does improve I can't see him replacing Flood. Even if his defence does improve the fact that Flood plays week in week out with Ben Youngs and has developed a great partnership with him will put him ahead. Can't see him replacing Ol' Jonny as the No.2 Fly-half either because...well he's Jonny.

@Punnarniman completely agree with everything you said.

@SirBurgundy Problem is though he'll never replace Foden at full-back, Allen or Twelvetrees are England's future 12's and Tuilagi is the most likely candidate for 13 when they no longer need Tindall's experience & leadership (and let's face it he provides sod all in actual playing ability). Admittedly with Jonny signing a new contract with Toulon he'll be out of the England team but Johnson will just pick the less talented but more dependable Hodgson rather than running back to Cipriani.

I remember this guy playing for England, but I don't remember how good he was. But from what I heard, he was a good attacker, but his defensive play was shocking. Is this true? And is it the only reason he was dropped from the England squad?

@Punnarniman he turned up to his first england training session in a ferari, he was in the media limelight with his girlfriend and had a drinking problem. That is all his issues and something the RFU could do little to help.

How has Dan Cipriani been getting on in Australia, does anyone thinki he has improved or done well? PS you Aussies have an excellenty chance of winning the 2011 World Cup, your backs are the onlty backs who can trouble New Zealand.

@rygipeldroed111 Yeah, Melbourne Rebels - a good team who play multi-dimensional rugby. That's why they're 14th out of 15 teams, have a 75% loss rate, and a points difference of -72

He's a raw precocious talent that England should have nurtured better.... Quad Cooper, has failings all over the place but his attacking flair is beyond reproach, Australian rugby decided that 2-3yr from the world cup this was their fly-half and 10-15 tri-nations games of rugby would either make him or break him. he is now probably no.2 on the world list of fly-halfs. Matthew Tait was tackled ONCE on debut and has never been backed again, Cipriani barely got a sniff. ERFU are cowards to talent

@Punnarniman to be honest i wouldn't want him in my team (the blues), doesn't he have one of the worst tackling records in super15 last year? Defence isn't everything for a 1st 5, but you definately want the first man off the scrum to be able to tackle..

Learn to read properly and acknowledge punctuation. My post (of 12 months ago btw) claimed Quad Cooper to be the 2nd best fly half in the world (behind Carter). Winning the Super 15 title with the Reds showed him at his best...., My overall point was that HAD the English RFU handled his development better he would have been our Cooper! Point re-iterated!

he probably can but he's too inconsistent and his kicking isn't great, Farrell can kick and has some solid defence but can't release the backs , Flood is the best option for now: his kicking is fine, he's a decent play maker and most importantly he's consistent

England messed mathew tait around so much, it was disgraceful. They played him centre or wing never let him settle down in a particular position where he could have begun to hone his skills there. Instead they switch him around all the time where he can never get any momentum in his performances then all of a sudden they decide to drop him altogether, he was never past the beginning stage of knowing where he was going to play?! Its a shame his career has been hampered by injuries though...

@jc545staffy Conservative: button down, unimaginatively conventional (Princeton Wordnet). I think it can apply here, don't you? When you say not as rounded as other 10's, what do you mean? That his defence is his weakpoint? There are plenty of other fly halves with the same problem who have been playing test rugby for years. I do not have a problem with the selection of Flood, he is a very good player, however Wilkinson over the past 5 years has been average at best.

@rygipeldroed111 Has he improved as a player? His attack has never been suspect, just his crappy defence. Judging from the rest of the game he still isn't up to an international standard.
@jc545staffy

@smithyboy00 how is that conservative, do you even know what that means? picking Cipriani is not an option atm, its not playing safe its playing it correctly he is not as rounded as other 10's. As for safe over talented yeah you tell wilko and his point score and his numerous game turning dump tackles he pulls out the bag. And as for flood, he wasnt exactly the safe option, only recently has he started producing quality to keep the jersey.

@decoonsw6 Yes he is so shit he plays super 15 as starting 10. As commentator stuart barnes said, does he tackle and get buried in a pile or is he always there to control the game? I know where i would want my 10
@smithyboy00
@smithyboy00 13 жыл бұрын
@jc545staffy This is the kind of conservative attitude that England don't need. Do you think Australia would drop Quade Cooper because he makes more mistakes than someone like Berrick Barnes? Consistently picking the "safe" option over a talented one will never elevate a team to the top tier of test rugby.
@jc545staffy

Flood and Wilkinson are ten times better, ok they migh not produce that kind of try but they wouldnt have missed the tackle or thrown the pass that lead to two of the Sharks other scores they cipriani did
