People have this fantasy about Vidic, it's so laughable! Was he a great CB yes, one of the best yes but he was never as good as people go on about, which is mainly United supporters surprise surprise. Vidic was nowhere close to a Prime Nesta or Maldini, not to mention Canavaro(ballon d'or winner) not to mention Van dijk was voted 2nd best player in the world, Vidic never came close to that.
