It'll retract a bit. Prices on Evolutions and Generations probably wont change. But because everyone has been mass opening packs the values could stay. I'm seeing recent sets climb in price since there's nothing left sealed. So Instead of just opening up all the packs I get in collector tins and boxes on my KZfaq I'll be saving a few just in case. Always a good investment to save half of what you buy and open the rest to have fun!

Apreciate all the info. Just started selling some of our extra collection with my 11yr old. We have been doing about 6 orders a day and it is so much fun. Had to do my first refund today because a card was received mangled .the bubble mailer looked like it had road rash on it lol. Thankfully was only a $30 card . Still stinks. Did everything correct had a top loader with team bag the whole 9yrds . The customer did write a nice review for the customer service so I guess that's worth the $30. Love the content please keep up the hard work. It's very appreciated from the guys just getting started out.

Cosmis eclipse is getting a reprint next year (hooray!) and unbroken bonds are getting another reprint next month.

Appreciate this content regarding the increasing sources of bubble videos circulating YT. I def agree with you on the point you made about not relying on hype and actually developing a proper business model to go long in this game if that is your goal, or if not...what direction to take for a little bit of supplemental income. Hype has a quick expiration date on it unlike a well, calculated plan.

It's a massive bubble I used to collect when I was a kid and when I seen all these influencers opening base set packs it gave me so much memories so what did I do like so many others was start buying pokemon and enjoyed the memories of opening packs and now I'm satisfied and bunch of other people are aswell.

I got a base zard when it was 1800 before it rose to 2500 but now down to 1200. But idc I kinda just wanted one to keep for a long time. I’m glad things are going down for base to cuz I’m saving up to get a psa 8 shadowless zard. I hope it doesn’t go up on me or goes down from 4k where it’s currently at

I agree with you. In my honest opinion it’s always good to invest in sets that have good art work and good cards in them. Vivid Voltage might be a great modern set with the amazing rares and rainbow pikachu vmax, there are centering flaws with the set which means a less high graded population in the future. These Vmax cards have fantastic artwork as well. Sword and shield set is going to be highly sought after in the future in my honest opinion.

Curious on your investment thoughts on WOTC singles vs WOTC sealed vs Non-WOTC singles vs Non-WOTC sealed! Love the idea of an investment series. The pokemon bubble is about to burst, with all the modern reprints. What separated vintage and modern, is the 1st edition stamp. The modern sets with no 1st ed stamp won't hold their value, but only devalue the cards for every reprint. A bubble needs to happen, so everyone can come back to reality.

Can't say I agree that there is not a bubble for WoTC cards just because there is currently high demand and limited supply. If anything, those conditions are more conducive to a bubble since you reach a point where you have bidding wars and eventually people either can't or won't pay that much. Housing is one of the most in-demand things out there and there was still a crash once it reached a breaking point. You can see these huge spikes and already a correction if you look at individual cards on PSA's site. Not including outliers, an unlimited PSA 9 Charizard cost less than $300 dollars one year ago. Last month there was a point in time where the average one was selling for around $5000. Right now, the average one is selling in the $2500-2800 range less than a month later.

Dont think its a bubble, the problem with Beanie babies was that it was artificially inflated by the manufacture from what i read. They were making exclusives/variants just to drive up the prices and demand. That being said, when the manufacture notices that kids arent the ones buying their product it can get dangerous by starting to cater to that market. Iam sure the pokemon company is watching this madness and seeing a cardboard box sell for a quarter of a mill XD. Covid has played a huge role in collectibles in general, look at retro games, same story. Prices shot up. Stuff will go back to "normal" once people get back to whatever they were doing pre covid. It's a bubble but not one that is going to crash. Its going to get a major market correction. I agree the vintage boxes are the safes thing to be invested in because so many have been opened. The supply has taken a major hit the past few months

At my local Walmart some guy goes in there and opens sealed boxes and I'm guessing he weighs the packs and then buys the box

Investing in pokemon as a new investor right now is not a great idea. It is so hard to find product in general, the scammers are using this time to take advantage of inexperienced investors, prices are all over the place, scalpers are scalping stores etc.If you already have a big holding like Danny then you are already along for the ride. How do I know this? I have tried to get my foot in the door during this pokemon craze and its just not happening. Personally im waiting for after Christmas when everything will calm down. The initial Logan Paul video was what started a lot of this. If he decides to do this again the hype will never be as high as when everyone found out about Logan Pauls 1st ed booster box. The second quarter of 2021 is really where things are going to be mint for investing!

If you really care about particular cards and are willing to take losses short term investing totally makes sense. Because Pokemon is mostly collectible without practical usability I think the ups and downs are particularly nerve wrecking.

lets call the boxes, that are from the beginning of nintendo era, Classic Boxes. Or refer it to as the Classic Era.

I'm too lazy for flipping XD I buy to enjoy and hold! But people buying commons raw and/or graded for stupid amounts of money... That right there is most likely panic-buying!! You're either gonna have to find someone who's as impulsive and who'll buy it off you for even nearly the same price, or you're gonna have to keep a hold of it for a very, very long time! I've heard Cosmic Eclipse is bound a reprint though. Maybe not Evolutions, but I'd see Cosmic getting another print run :)

I just sold a Base Set Unlimited Common Pikachu card for $81. I found about about 8 of them in an old drawer, along with hundreds of other cards. Sold a Base Squirtle for $51 last week and a set of 3 Base Set Starters for $80... I'm just slowly working through them listing them on Ebay. I have my original full sets in binders and these are just forgotten extras.. Not first edition, in reasonably good condition. I was hoping to just recoup some dollars I'd spent on CP, so I don't quite understand why these vintage cards are in such high demand. On another note, I have 2 complete Master Sets of Champion's Path (pending the addition of the last couple of promo cards from the Marnie Box once its released here in Australia). I'm keeping one, but wondering whether to hold off on selling the second? Will value increase over time?

In my opinion this is just a market correction and prices will continue higher over the next few years, aswell as the hobby market as a whole. There is a lotttt of money that can come into this market! Just between myself and 10 friends we’ve spent around 250k (not as much me lol) and were not selling our stuff ever but accumulating. And we’re small fish lol. I don’t agree with some of the bubble sentiment.

As someone who dislikes the new full art/ gx/ etc format for rares, I was SO disappointed in EX Evolutions. I opened so many packs and never got a regular holographic cards. Just a bunch of Mega Slobro and rares that were commons like Starme. Anyone else?

I do not think we are in a bubble, however, I think Base Set/Evolutions/Charizard's are in a little bubble. Not a large one, but I think they'll go down slightly (or Plateau) for a year or two and then start rising again.
