Well the Ultra has much more new features and here in Holland the S23+ is just way too expensive for what you get. For me it would normally be the compact s23 but I couldn't resist a crazy T-mobile deal for S23 Ultra 1tb (just 60,- more than 512gb after cashback). With carrier discount, a 240,- cashback and a Watch5 lte I'm paying only 850,- for the 1tb Ultra while the S23 256gb (with only 60,- cashback) is still 800,-. So I went for the ultimate big boy 👊🏻

I'm loving my S23+, fits in the hand nicely, excellent battery life, camera is good enough if you don't need zoom, and gaming is sooooo goooooood. God I hated Exynos on my S21!

The ultra is definitely fantastic but the plus isn't far behind at all. I mean even in zoom, it holds up quite well provided there is enough light. Glad that Samsung isn't putting huge gaps among their flagship models. But, ultra is definitely ahead.

Very impressed by the plus. The difference is only noticeable in low light but it's not even big at all and I surely won't be using 8k at night so I'm pretty happy that I went with the standard S23, really loving this form factor and the value.

Quite impressed that the 200MP sensor is able to capture ever so slightly more light, especially in low light video. Double Quad debayering certainly helps as does the bigger sensor size. But apart from that the regular S23 performs pretty much the same.

200 MP 4×4 and 50 MP 2×2 means pretty much identical chroma resolution and I guess that's the main reason they don't seem too different when it comes to perceived detail. I wish no sensors ever went beyond 2×2 Bayer.

Thanks. I'm trying to decide between the 23plus and 23 ultra. It looks like the ultras main advantages are in zoom detail, night time modes and video stabilzation in low light. I was hoping that the plus may do a little better in dynamic range and white balance to make it more similar to the pixel, but these seem to show the regular Samsung effect.

Oh no nothing will compare the Pixel shots. After using the pixel and the s23 ultra and Plus, I noticed the pixel always took nicer, sharper, and clearer shots, but that's Pixel, they're always took good pictures.

@@hobbitpsiThey do take great photos for sure. Their video is improving with updates also. It is just a shame the rest of the devices are second rate in so many ways and not up to their camera system level. Second rate chips and battery life issues and charging speed limitations and thermal problems under heavy load and too many glitches in daily use. All this makes them cheap for a reason (excluding the ludicrously priced Pixel Fold).

@@neilmcguinness4422 See, I never had any of those issues with my Pixel 7 pro. My battery would always be at 40-50% by the time I went to bed and it never once got hot on me. The chipset, while yes is an old exynos chip, ran everything quick and fast for me including games. Charging speed is never a big thing to me especially for the Pixel, because the only time it was on the charger was when I went to sleep at night. Far as glitches, the only glitch I've ever experienced on the pixel was the modem issue, where connections would drop or I wouldn't get texts or calls sometimes. And I agree about the fold, however, it must be a good device because if it wasn't the facebook marketplace would be flooded with them, but they aren't.

My wife has the plus I have the ultra. The new sensor on the ultra has less noise and a slightly sharper image while pixel peeping. I tested both cameras side by side in the default 12mp mode. These tests in the videos are not apples to apples. You can't compare 200mp mode to 12. As of Feb 23 the 50mp and 200mp modes dynamic range is blown out and smooths the images too much. These two modes do reduce noise greatly though. Hopefully these two modes changes with updates. If they can fix the smoothening and dynamic range these two modes will be amazing.

Mp does not matter. Distance of viewing is what matters. Giant billboards are usualy put up with only a few mp ranging from 5-16mp. All the 200mp allows you to do is crop more. I can say for sure my 24mp full frame cinema camera has sharper images then any 200mp shot I've seen.

Okay so which one is better in water resistant area. I heard few reviews where due to S pen , water got in and Samsung don't cover water damage. Camera is the only downside but the changes are not that huge. Please help.

The biggest advantage of S23U is telephoto camera. But photos from main camera seem little bit flat (too light) and lacks wider dynamic range. It needs some tweaking, hope Samsung will do something about it

Did you face HDR issues with S23 (regular)? I noticed a LOT of color banding when taking pictures of the sky (sunrise/sunset). It seems the issue is Samsung's HDR since this issue does not happen if I take pictures with another camera app. When there are clouds it is not so noticeable but if there is a blue sky, the pictures are terrible! I can send some examples if needed. Thanks.

Hi Danny, do you have a selfie comparison, showing how ih focus the background is? I travel solo and often take selfies with monuments, buildings, landscapes etc. in the background and it's often either unfocused or washed out (I'm on S10 still and want to upgrade to S23!)

I've compared the macro of the S23+ (3x option) and the macro of the S23 ultra. The ultra goes a little bit closer but the 23+ is way sharper

Great comparative video. My wife and I both upgraded our S21 ultras to S23 ultra and we're very pleased with the camera performance. As someone who shoots both night and day I'd say the additional price is worth it - and I'm very fussy and picky with my photography.

I really like less sharpening on Ultra, because you can get more sharpening after in edit, but you cannot never take it away. And photos with less sharpening look more like from DLSR than a phone.

I may be a bit late so you won't read it, but just in case you are: in 6:45 there is a pretty big mistake. You say that you can get a different look with more dof out of the ultra, but the woodpole your were trying to photograph was not in focus on the +, the focus was on the tree behind it. So this makes that comparison kind of unreliable

Do you see any options to record videos on qhd ? I mean 1440p. I only see options for 8K 30 fps, uhd - 4k, fullHD and HD. I see qhd as an option ONLY if I activate super steady mode... and it is reducing the brightness for this... for me qhd on video is a sweet spot for high resolution videos and less size for the video as the 4k uses a lot of storage.

Danny you should check out the night mode shadow details of the S23 ultra, they are worse than the S22, the noise suppression smoothed out the details in the shadow areas.

I went with the Ultra for the S Pen and the screen resolution and increased RAM. Both the Plus and the Ultra have superb camera systems that will delight anybody. Any photo and video advantages that the Ultra has over the Plus are minimal and subjective. In some cases the Plus does deliver better results. I actually think both devices are good value for what they offer. Own either device and you should consider yourself lucky.

Very small differences between the 2 but Ultra definitely still seems worth the difference for the S-Pen, bigger battery, bigger screen, more RAM options, better zoom and night performance and of course ... alpha omega supreme galactus status

Thank you for the comparison. My takeaway is: if you didn't need the 10x zoom and high resolution pictures, it would be fair to say both camera systems are almost on the same level, provided the Expert raw features including Astro-Photography and Multi-exposur shots were also available on s23 Plus. I would still go for Ultra because of the 10x zoom.

I saw them side by side and i use them! S23u is a real flagship and s23 plus feels like a midrange flagship! I saw thme side by side in 1080 and the pixels were obvious on s23 plus and s23u is more vivid screen! I will go for s23u now because and the curves are minimal now

S23+ in hand here. Fantastic phone. Easy to hold in hand, premium feel, great battery life, great performance, great camera (sometimes I miss my Pixel though). Ultra is just too big for a daily use in my opinion.

My BIGGEST complaint to the S23 (regular Not Plus or Ultra), I just switched to it from the Z Flip 4. The Speaker is MUCH lower (Quieter) than the Flip 4. I tried using on Speaker phone when driving yesterday, barely hear the person. I then picked up phone, used it normally and fine.

Actually no, I've compared my OnePlus 6 with gcam app to the s23 and it beats it most of the shots. It's just slower to process the pictures since it is more than 5 years old now.

I have a massive problem with the fingerprint sensor! Most of the times I have to do it 3 or 4 times and many of the times it blocks me for 30 sec! And I just put an ultra tin screen protector and I had this problem even before installing this protector! Does any one else have this problem?

More MPX does not mean "more better". This has been proven a moltitude of times. At the end of the day a good 12 MPX or 50 MPX has nothing to envy to a sensor with more MPX, lots of MPX are there only for marketing purposes and what gives the real performance is not the amount of MPX but the quality of the sensor substrate itself (in both smartphones and pro cameras) and the image processing behind (in the case of smartphone cameras). I would love to get an S23 Plus because I like the classical S design more instead of the Note lines of the Ultra, however the high price, the lack of microSD card slot and headphone jack make me stick to my S10+ for another year or more since the value is not there at all.

I traded-in my flip 4 to the s23 plus and I am so happy. I got it for around USD480+ after the trade-in value and the additional credit of USD200 from Samsung Philippines. Also, I was able to buy it during the "Pre-order" and since I was in the Physical shop, I was able to get it immediately and got a free upgrade in storage. I actually love using the S23 plus given its size. Although I was surprised that the ultra-wide lens is only 0.6x. I'm very much tempted to switch from my iphone 14 pro max to s23 plus but a lot of my friends and family members are using imessage. But I'm very much happy with my s23 plus as my work phone. :)
