This one reminds me a great deal of the record players available for use in my school in the 70’s. I’m glad Crossley is considering bringing them back at some later date.

I actually bought mine because I saw and loved the original video you made! I’ve had it about a year and, unfortunately, the tan vinyl wrap is starting to peel on the front lip. But I still love it, it sounds amazing!

Loved the video. Can I just point out that the Dansette, in 50,60s UK was nothing like this apart from superficial looks. Dansette ( Pronounced Dan's-set like set belonging to Dan, there is no z sound). They were the every man record player, they sold on sound quality and robustness. For stereo they introduced speakers that looked in keeping and plugged in the back. They were not a cheap thing. The Dansette were well respected in the same way as any middle priced product. Almost every home had one. The upgrade was to go for a Radiogram which is a large piece of furniture. These had mostly the same internals plus a radio:- Long wave, Medium Wave and often Sort wave. VHF was not common. The UK was way way behind USA with Multi functional units. we only have small rooms. (see "Call the midwife " on PBS to see what I mean. Cheers

Point of order, while Dansette may now be used as a model name by Crosley the original Dansette brand had no connection to Crosley.

Crosley's Cruiser is carry-on luggage size. The Dansette Jr.? Well, you might just want to check it in.

I have one of Crosley's earlier 'upscale' units - a Keepsake. Quite a bit bigger and heavier than a Cruiser, full-size platter, auto-return, and fitted with larger/better speakers than the Cruiser (side-firing, tho). It has an actual magnetic cartridge as well. Luggage-size is a fair assessment for both the Dansette and the Keepsake.

Hi Record-ology, hope you and the family had a great Easter. I'm intrigued by the Crosley Dansette. Our first record player was a Dansette bought in 1966 by my dad. It was nothing like the Crosley though.... It had an auto-changer and could play 78's. The sound was loud and warm. This was because it was valve driven. The Crosley doesn't have the character, or the sound that I remember....Mind I'd not play my record collection on anything but my trio KD1033 turntable. The original Dansette's tone arm was far too heavy and - no stereo. Four years after we got the Dansette they went out of business and Hi Fi for the masses came in.

Very interesting! I agree, this is styled to look like a Dansette but in terms of build quality / sound....its the same as the others. Someday I would love to play with an original Dansette. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I love your channel and I'm learning so much. I want to buy this Dansette Jr. but the color doesn't match the color scheme of my room. Do people ever successfully repaint these? Just wondering. Thank you for all your videos and outstanding content.

It’s definitely the speakers that are producing that tinny sound. Would it be possible to replace those speakers with better ones? If you try that, let’s hear it again!!!

Based on the shadow of the grill cover, it looks like the speakers are about 1" to 1 1/2" apart. Definitely no room for stereo separation. And judging by the sound, I doubt if they are more than 3 watts apiece (or a total of 6).

This looks like a bmw compared to my 1969 K-Mart speacial. I put speakers from the interior ones and it actually worked. 1960 my Dad purchased a Zenith with 78s,and 33 1/3. I loved it. I'm totally hooked. So enjoyed this & thx for the Memories

ALL portable record players and turntables should have a tone control; bass and treble.🙂 The speakers in Hi-Fi Stereo should be space out. Have a good day Mr. Record-Ology my friend!👍

I had the Crosley Danette Bermuda. Same as this but with the removable legs. First one, the right speaker went out in the first 20 minutes. Replacement worked fine but the speakers are just awful and the RCA out is at quite a low volume. Sent it back, got an AT LPX60 which sounds and functions way better and it was $100 cheaper. I do still have my Crosley CT-201 boombox though, which I love.

Record ology said it sounded harsh. I agree. Crosley can't seem to make a decent player like this without it being a squeak box. Always some cheap speakers like the Voyager. That's trash too. Just gutted my case and put it in the trash.

Would you believe that this LP is available for streaming on Spotify and KZfaq Music? Volumes I and II are combined. I like the opening track. It sounds the an old style news broadcast theme.

Looks a bit silly w/ all the open real estate & dinky platter. Think the latter should've been sized accordingly.

Hi Recordology, I'm a new subscriber, In your opinion what is the best portable battery operated rechargeable complete record player I don't need too many bells and whistles, just the basics?. I want to sell my used record collection outdoors, I need something that tracks well and sounds good and will last 6 to 8 hours before recharging?

Radio station records-mine came from a -----radio station. You find them during transmitter site cleanups.Transmitter sites were besides housing the AM or FM transmitter-or both at one site were also used for storage. One station I visited in Baltimore had a collection of 50's-60's,70's oldies that would be worth a fortune-they converted to talk radio---BORING-they used to be one of the few AM stations that still played music.Me and a friend repaired the stations Onan genset. The station used a four tower directional with two 10Kw RCA 10U transmitters-those were treasures in themselves!

I really think 🤔 that record player would be hard on your records without a dampening system, especially with bass intensive records. It would be a shame to have the tone arm skate clear across your favorite 😻 record. Not to say that this is a bad record player, but it would benefit by having a dampening system, especially during bass intensive portions of the record. I also like 👍 the strobe disc, I could stare at it for hours. Your friend, Jeff.
