Im a more mature skater (42) thats just started about 7 weeks ago, love watching these clips as they really do help. I try and skate every day even if its just a 15 min skate to work and back. I skate parks when i can as much as i can and i even got myself another deck just for carpet. I'm totally hooked

Yo, I hear that….. I’m also 42 and just today I pulled my board out of storage and skated for the first time in over 20 years. Felt crazy to be skating again but I got 2 or 3 tricks haha - gotta relearn everything else and we have no ramps here just flat land

3 and 6 really resonate with me, and I'll tell you why. I fell in love with skateboarding as a child in the 90s. Growing up, my heroes were Rodney Mullen and Bam Margera. Over time, I discovered Ritchie Jackson, Andy Anderson, Ishod Wair, Rob Roskopp and Mike V. So, as you can imagine, my style was a weird hybrid of street and freestyle, with bonelesses and wallplants thrown in for good measure. Throughout my entire skating life, people would ridicule me for the freestyle and 'circus' tricks, which forced me to work harder on my flatland, and learning various things such as Fakie Sex Change flips and so on. People would make fun of me a lot, probably because I'd practically whitewash them in games of SKATE. These days, I'm a bit too fat and ill to skate, which is why I took up fingerboarding. Hopefully one day, I will make a full recovery so I am able to ride again, despite my age.

I'm 17, I started skating like 3 months ago, i have hydrocephalus, so trying to convince my parents to let me skate was very difficult, but now i have a helmet that doesn't fit, and it's the largest size that S1 owns. But i love skating hope to get better and gain enough confidence and persuasion skills so i can go to the skatepark sometime.

Well dam You were lucky at £30 for a complete When I was a kid and started in the early to mid 90s You could only buy a complete built deck and they started at £100. I was in the same boat and grew up poor so I had zero chance of ever getting one bought for me so I got a paper round and a weekend job on the local market saved my money and bought a santa cruise complete. Great vid as usual

Love your attitude... I'm 52 and just built my childhood cruiser powell ripper. I didn't like you talking about injuries but I needed to hear it. I don't wakeboard anymore cause I can't resist throwing flips and body can't take it anymore but I still throw a few different flips behind the boat on my sitdown hydrofoil. I'm hoping to learn basic skateboard tricks before getting hurt lol

I want to start again. Will definitely try out a video diary for my tricks. So glad we've got all these people to help us out today. I didn't have this back then. Thanks for the video Dan.

Picking up on the pebble and landing right , I was cruising on my skateboard a month ago just chilling , In my complex theirs this really busted up side walk so the cracks are as big as the wheels but you can go over them if your going fast , So I decided to go on the side walk and when I got to the busted sidewalk I was just speeding up but my wheel got caught in a pebble and since the busted up side walk is broken and stuff it stabbed me right in my hip bone and started to bleed everywhere , And now I have a pretty knarly scar from it but thing is , know how to fall and don’t trust pebbles

Ngl, I don’t agree with the setup one, having a good board that has good pop and grip tape helps with actually doing tricks, having good bearings makes it so much easier to skate around and not get tired and to be able to have more time to set up, and then proper wheels are also important, super small wheels are gonna have the same problem as shit bearings, plus having really soft wheels or the improper wheels(like longboard wheels tryna do tricks) make it hard to learn, bc one of those beginner tricks I feel like is reverts and Altho not impossible with soft wheels I think are definitely easier with hard wheels
@markvickery5894

Trucks don’t matter tho, at least not to the point of hindering you unless the bushings are bad in some way shape or form that makes it harder for you to learn

Super nice tipps! One of them kind of got me a bit irritated. I know there is such as a rivalry going on btween skaters and scooter or bmx riders and such. But honestly, if you got a park nearby, try out everything you want. Eventhough my heart sticks to the skateboarding I learned a lot from trying other disciplines. It helps a lot getting into another perspective, helps you coexist in the park, appreciating tricks of others getting hyped and most importent: having fun accomplishing things and make friends not foes at your favourite spots (at least appreciating being respectfull). 😊🛹🛴🚲🛼
