Danzo Is a realistic character in an unrealistic world. . He is selfish and scared of death. That is exactly what a normal human is like. Not everyone is ready to lay down their lives on the line or sacrifice for others sake.

Danzo was obsessed with power, because you need power to protect. He was willing to do terrible things as long as he felt that it would help the village. Hiruzen and Danzo share a lot of similarities with Naruto and Sasuke.

Danzo was the one who was burdened with having to do the villages dirty work... It's a shitty job, that comes with a lot of guilt but somebody had to do it. It's easy to criticize him during the times of relative peace the ninja world is currently enjoying but who knows where the village would even be if it wasn't for Danzo being the ruthless man he was during the wars. Maybe it would have been better without danzo... or maybe it could've been a lot worse, who knows. Ultimately he did everything for the sake of the village.

I'm not sure if english language use the same proverb, but the way to Hell is paved with good intentions. That is Danzo. Danzo was someone who, plagued by his cowardice (That he was self aware of) was afraid of losing everyone and everything he loved. He wanted to be the hero, yet he knew he was never going to be it. So he chose darkness. He wanted to be in the Shadows of Hiruzen and do whatever had to be done. He thought he knew what should be done, and was willing to get dirty fort it. Danzo was not "evil" but he was doing evil things willingly because he was certain it was the only way to succeed. I never hated Danzo. He is the product of times. Every village had Danzo. He was just more efficient at his work. Danzo is an a-hole and someone I pity a lot.

Danzo, in my opinion, is one of the best written characters in the whole Narutoverse. Everything from his actions to his dialogue makes you really hate and despise him. He stayed consistent from the moment we were introduced to him in Shippuden. He had a backstory which was explained perfectly, and in the end you almost have to sympathize with him because whether you like him or not, he's still human. We may not agree with the decisions he made or the actions he took, but all of it was for the sake of the Hidden Leaf Village. He was the perfect balance to Hiruzen's soft and gentle nature, as described in his final monologue. Oh and if Madara was able to take Shisui's eye from Danzo, it would have been game over. So he ended up saving the Shinobi world in a sense from that calamity.

At the end, when they showed them as kids running, Danzo was trying to catch up with Hiruzen.. from childhood to death, Danzo always felt left behind by Hiruzen.

Danzo respected Hiruzen until the end, when his friend became Hokage he was eager to support his friend and dedicate himself in protecting the village from the shadows. Just what Danzo said Konoha is a tree, Hiruzen is the leaf gaze by the sun, warm. While Danzo is the root , the foundation, in the darkness, cold. That's why his organization is called "the Foundation" aka Root Anbu. ;)

Danzo and Itachi are the most realistic characters, but in case of Danzo, he is a person who can go to extreme and evil ways for the future and protection of hidden leaf(one of the reasons he is hated in the community). Such a great villain and character he is✨

Danzo is a real character. All he cares about is the best for his people. No matter the cost.

danzo did a lot of bad things but you cannot call him evil.. because real people are like danzo. this is how country's are run...there are always men like danzo that protect the country from inside, people that we dont even know about.. every country has done something bad at some point of time to protect their own and danzo is the prime example of someone who is willing to do bad to for their own good.

Danzo is an example of real life people. Greedy, afraid to sacrifice, hesitant, power-hungry, selfish, but all of that are for the whole community's benefits or for their beloved ones (not completely true because Danzo did want power for himself as well, not just for the village's peace, power, and stability).

I think that Danzo's love for the village is sinscere. It's just that he's ready to dirty his hands to protect the village. He just doesn't care if his method is twisted and dirty.

I love Danzo as a villain,he isnt good but he isnt bad,he is real,that is how people in our world operate,they do bad things for a good cause.Yes Danzo was a bad person but he thought that everything he did was for the sake of the village.He thought that people like Hiruzen and Tsunade are at fault for everything happening now and thats why he didnt stop Orochimaru and stopped Naruto from returning during Pain Arc,he wanted to be more militaristic and agressive because he thought the last 2 kage were too soft

It might be the bitter pill for most people to swallow but Danzo was a NECESSARY existence for Konoha. His methods may have been crude but they guaranteed the outcome almost most of the time. To name one of his crude actions; Funding and helping Orochimaru's experiment on children for the Hashirama cells, its because of that that Yamato exists today, its because of Yamato that Naruto was able to learn rasen shuriken without the risk of losing control of Kurama, It was because of Yamato that Konoha was restructured after the Pain attack fairly at a quick pace. Naruto and others may not owe Danzo directly but they do owe him indirectly because he cared about the village's safety as much as anyone if not even more. Danzo's only flaw was he was a lone wolf and sought to solve problems only HIS WAY. To me Danzo is the successor of Tobirama even if in that moment Tobirama chose Hirzuen to be the hokage Danzo's action in later years IMO would have been the same as Tobirama if he was alive. I have met countless fans who completely despise Danzo and I have no problem with that, But they are also the same people who are willing to ignore Tobirama's past actions which contradicts their hate for Danzo. Danzo also carried the WILL OF FIRE.....one that burned most passionately people just turned a blind eye to it.

Shisui’s Mangekyo genjutsu was considered on par or even stronger than Itachi’s Tsukuyomi, which is considered unmatched in the current world of Naruto. Danzo considering using it to control Madara was actually the smartest idea to occur in that fight. The jutsu would have worked if he had the chance to pull it off.

The problem in Danzo’s character is that he’s too obsessed with self sacrifice for the good of the Leaf village, but since he finds himself unable to do it, he forces it upon others. So it makes him a relatively slimy leader. At least at the end he finally found his courage to give his life to prevent Shisui’s eye from falling into Madara’s hands instead of trying Izanagi again.

I love this version of Sasuke, so complex, turbulent and he makes THINGS HAPPEN. Might be a biased opinion bc Sasuke is my favorite character, but I really love Taka - Kage Summit Sasuke.

the beauty of this anime is that you realise that no one is actually a "bad guy". all they want is just PEACE and how they try to achieve it is how you see them as a "bad guy" like danzo, you can tell that he's really want to protect konoha but in wrong way. thats what makes him look like a bad guy. in the end. he just sacrifice himself just for the sake of konoha.

Danzo's main intention of protecting the village is good and legitimate. The problem is instead of recognizing and accepting the flaws of his own character, he projects onto others and overcompensates for his weaknesses. Notice how he's constantly commenting on how "weak" the other characters are. It's because he can't accept the weakness within himself. Instead, he resorts to extreme and ruthless tactics to overcompensate for his insecurities. This is ultimately what led him astray. He's a well designed character, very realistic and believable.

Danzo was not "bad" he only chose the "dark" path to protect the village, he did so because he thought he was not "strong" enough to protect others with wisdom and kindness. 'In a cruel world and at war there are no good and bad, there are only people looking for a common or their own good, in order to achieve their dreams you have to crush the dreams of others either directly or indirectly, but nevertheless in a world like this someone with a "good" heart is incapable of bringing change, because in difficult situations a firm and cold will is required. In the end, light and darkness are the complement that this world needs'. This applies to Hiruzen and Danzo, Hiruzen could not bring peace or solve internal problems because his soft heart was unable to make difficult decisions, that happened with his disciple Orochimaru and with the Uchihas, on the other hand Danzo was wrong when trying to solve things alone and by his own means, I walk so much in the dark that in the end he lost his way. I sorry for my bad english XD

Soo here’s a thing. Danzo was ambitious for himself. But we cant say that he didn’t care for village. Zanzo wanted to run the village like the 2nd Hokage. (Tobirama senju) which is run it practically and not involving emotions just thinking straight from head. Where as Sarutobi wanted to Run village like the 1st hokage (Hashirama Senju, Also known as the God Of Shinobi) he wanted to run fhe village with love and not want any darkness in it. But tbh everything needs to be balanced. The dark and the light side. It was just conflict of ideas from both. Which they had inherited from their previous Hokages!

He was never really evil everything he did in his view was to try to save the village even if he did bad things it was to save the village.He would have beat Sasuke if he used for energy but in the beginning he even said himself he needs to save energy for Madara. Danzo definitely had the best interest for the village, unlike hiruzen who was too soft, danzo was willing to do anything for the village even if his actions were dark. hiruzen was the light and danzo was the dark but he always tried to do his best to protect the village.

It really was Danzo vs Sasuke, Karin and Madara. He had planned to assassinate Madara as well. Otherwise, without Madara's presence, Danzo would have fought differently.

I despise Danzo as a person, but he is one of the most memorable and interesting characters for me in Naruto and in manga overall. He’s flawed and he’s a coward, yet at the same time he has a twisted sense of patriotism and he is willing to go to great lengths to achieve his version of peace for the Leaf Village. And he’s crazy strong. This cane of his was such a trolling to all of us. Danzo is definitely high-Kage level. This fight was amazing.

Shisui's sharigan contains the most powerful genjutsu in history; it's called Kotoamatsukami. This genjutsu, is so strong, that you never realize you are under genjutsu. Danzo already demonstrated it's power in the summit, where Mifune told the Kage's that Danzo should be the general of the Allied Forces, Mifune at that point was already under Danzo's genjutsu. Kotoamatsukami let's the user control the target, literally control the actions and everything the target can do. That's why Danzo was so desperate to finish off Sasuke, because he wanted to use it against Madara, and not Sasuke, or wasting it with Izanami.

Hiruzen and Danzo inherited two sides of the second Hokage, but Danzo forgot the "necessary cruelty/being cold-blooded" is only means to an end. He was more fixated on being the opposing party in the village than what's actually good for the village (similar to some politicians nowadays). Only when he was about to die he realized Hiruzen and his original ideals and goals of protecting the village.

Danzo was Hiruzen's scapegoat. Hiruzen doesn't need to fear the risk of looking like an A$$hole or a heartless leader to his villagers because Danzo is vocal about his ideas. Ideas that have the same goal as Hiruzen: Protect the Leaf Village. Hiruzen knows this, which is why he allows Danzo to speak his mind and to "push him over". He's actually not getting pushed over he's allowing Danzo to voice cutthroat solutions thay he knows he can't voice himself in fear of losing the Trust of his Subordinates/villagers. Villagers might not feel Their Leader has their best Interest at heart if their leader starts to act in an extreme pragmatic way like Danzo. Which is why Danzo was always kept around by Hiruzen because he needs someone like him and the best part I he doesn't even need to ask Danzo to comeup with extreme solutions to protect the leaf, Danzo will do that himself. We've always known that Danzo's motives are pretty much for the prosperity of the village, it's just that he himself has problematic qualities. Protecting one's own home and family isn't necessarily a sign of good moral fiber, as even villains protect the things they love. But even for someone with lesser honor, steeped in darkness, the positive relationships they share is always a beautiful thing to see.

putting madara under genjutsu would work. this is shisui's ultimte jutsu, you adopt whatever ideas and thoughts the user wants you to. madara would become a genuine konoha ally
