I’ve never really had Guinness, but stumbled onto your channel and decided to try a pint in my local, now I’m hooked!…just bought some cans for home, Sláinte 👍🏻

The glass won’t smash in the freezer no matter how long you leave it in for. It would only smash if you added a hot liquid to it immediately after bringing it out. Thermal shock.

During the lockdown I was gasping for a pint of Guinness and previous experience had taught me that cans of Guinness are shite. Well, after a year and a half of drinking exclusively cans of Guinness I can honestly say I love them. Even though I do to the pub for a few scoops every now and again (which are obviously superior), the lockdown has made me appreciate the simple joy of a can of Guinness.. And you're spot on when you said that 24 hours standing up in the fridge is the way to go. I'm no authority on how Guinness works but the fridge with the cold glass makes a notable difference..

I find the 90 degree straight up and down pour makes for the best head. I experimented with an 8 pack of cans and the 90 degree pour was best. The method Guinness printed on the box literally created no head at all (open, let rest for 30 seconds, pour at a 45 in one smooth pour). It didn’t even surge. The 90 degree pour surged and had the creamiest head. That’s what you’re looking for as everyone knows the best sip of Guinness is the first. So I try and take down about a 3rd of the pint in the first sip and it is sweet.

You’re actually not supposed to do the 2 part pour with Guinness draught in a can. The 2 part pour is only for Nitrosurge or on tap. With draught you’re supposed to do one smooth motion of slowly tilting the glass upright after being at a 45 degree angle until it’s full.

Had a half pint of Guinness just to test and see how it was, idk if other beers have it or not but that creamy top of the Guinness just make the drink amazing, gives it a thick nice taste over any other beers I’ve drank, real delight!

Fair play. Being drinking Guinness for many years and have had to do with the can since the pubs closed. Well recently I picked up some cans of O'Hara's Nitro stout and I am totally converted. Incredible texture and tons of flavour. The best stout that has ever gone past my lips. Beats Guinness in every department. A big plus is that it is a craft stout, so all natural ingredients. The downside is that it is much more expensive. Ye pay your money and ye take your choice. My money is on O' Hara's.

Gave this a go and it definitely makes a difference for me anyway. I was starting to give up on the cans a bit too, cheers pal!

I work in a bar and got asked to pour Guinness for the first time. Never got trained on how to do it so I poured it like a regular beer. The customer was not happy so I came here.

Shake the can before u open to activate the widget. That is the secret. Then lob the can into the glass

The widget inside the can is designed to make this a single pour. You would get a double pour from the keg.

Pint glass, pour it like a lager till about 3 quarters of the way to the top then lift the can up straighten the glass and do a circular motion, fills the head to maybe a few ml off the top.

Thanks for this wonderful video. Ive managed to get some of their coffee flavoured guiness today. So I wanted to know the best way to pour it before I started to enjoy it and your video has helped a lot thanks. It definitely has a nice coffee smell to it when the can is opened and it's pouring into the glass but tasting it it seems like normal Guinness with just a hint of coffee flavour but maybe I was expecting too much. But all in all it's a very good drink. Thanks

the sherlock holmes inn here in Melbourne Australia has it on tap and they have their glasses in the fridge, they then pour 80%, leave it for a minute before topping it up. So I think you are into something.

Also, what do pubs have to do when they open up again after a shutdown? Do they clean the pipes? New kegs or what happens. Good content!

Good video but as a long time Guinness drinker I would never have a can of draught Guinness in any glass other than a official Guinness Gravity pint glass, the one with the angels inside it. The glass is designed to push the Nitrogen back down into the bottom of the glass bringing the beer with it. That's why Guinness bubbles go down while settling and beer or lager bubbles go straight up. 👍

I always pour the entire can in one go. I’ve tried your method but it tends to make little to no difference to the overall “head” effect

Why do the bubbles go down rather than up? I've heard loads of reasons...shape of the glass...nitrogen rather than CO2.....friction with the glass.... Anybody know the real reason?

Training myself. 3rd pour upside down way works best for me but the freezer trick might have to try it. Only just got find of it my self. Is the clover thing a thing and what's the history behind it apart from good luck and prosperity. If I remember that rightly.

I made a pisstake calm start then scream and shout and neck a pint of plain for St Paddy's day video, for my mates and at the switch I did it a big break into Thin Lizzy too. Great mind lad ;)

Just tip the can and leave the can in the glass to empty...then lift the can out slowly

I prefer my can at room temperature. Gives an incredible thick head as well.

In the states, and I can only speak for the mid-east portion, the date code on most Guinness stout products is last summer. This is annoying especially because you don't know how it was handled since last summer.

Mine always reaches the rim of the glass, only got the domed head twice in all my time pouring from the cans (I think!). I don't know how to get rid of the bubbles appearing in the head either. Can anyone help? (I use the gravity glass as I can't get the non-branded tulip ones online that don't come with more than 4 glass within €30 budget)

I like stout and all, but I just can't like a Guinness from the can, it's always weak and watery.

Everytime I open the can with the widget I get bigger or smaller mess. What is the trick to open it and not get half of the kitchen covered in Guinness? Do I just have to open it quickly?
