@@qrwsecwell tsunamis start from somewhere which means the waves start from somewhere. There is no such thing as coming from nowhere when experiencing an event that is part of a chain of events. There’s simply being aware of something coming or being caught off guard by something coming, kiddo.

@@qrwsec The ocean wasn't clean. What we're seeing in the video are swells breaking near the shore. If they get past the breaking area, they'll be fine riding the swells. Their boat is in no way fit for the ocean, as you can tell by the video that their boat has a very low freeboard. They were in the wrong boat and, for some reason, stayed right in the breaking area instead of advancing to try to get over the waves before they came crashing down onto their deck.

A lot of people debating this in the comments. I haven’t seen the full video but I can tell you that this is NOT a bass boat. It’s a flats boat. While they are in a particularly bad spot (break zone), it is common to take flats boats near beaches in search of Tarpon.

And, if I'm not mistaken those boats are usually positively boyant...meaning it can take on basically as much water as it can hold and it won't "sink." So in that case as long as the captain keeps a cool head and the engine stays running they will be fine.

The only thing the Cap did right was to keep the bow pointed towards the wave. He just needed to apply some power (maybe trim, if available) to keep the bow tip above the wave so that he boat goes over the wave instead of torpedoing through it. Of course the best course of action is to not put yourself there in the first place.

@@OCVariation You are seeing things that aren't there. I've watched it frame by frame. You can briefly see a regular-size wave when they go down from the break point of third wave and it's about 0,5m in height. After that she films the horizon again and it's only smooth water.

On this episode of fuq around and find out we have a qualified captain in a small fishing boat taking on 4foot waves. But experts say the boat did have something called a engine and a propeller. Investigators ruled out common sense. Experts say the cause was lack of brain cells and experience.

At that point that’s the best option. If you take it from the side you capsize and if hits from the stern you are definitely sinking.

Yea he took them correctly, his mistake was not taking a few mins to time the waves and make a safe bar crossing. You don’t just run out the inlet when you have a bar at the mouth to navigate.

Lol this is one of the main tenets of surfing: wait for the set to roll through before paddling out. Otherwise, you'll probably get smashed. And if you have a motor, should be relatively easy to get past the impact zone in-between sets. This was just a poor read of the ocean.

Still tackled it correctly. Saw that there was no time to turn, and hit it straight on.

He put himself in a bad spot when the series came rolling in. But did a great job getting himself out. And honestly she kept her composure pretty well considering (unlike what others are saying). A lot can go wrong real quick even in a more capable boat in the surf.

Not sure how this boat is designed, but in my actual bass boat, I can trim my motor up and throttle into it to lift that bow up as to not nose dive into the wave
