That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t think he necessarily cares about what is gonna happen unless it drains his powers, makes him a basic slave like kikimora basically is, strips him of his rank, etc. I mean the first time we meet him, he never necessarily mentions them being traitors or seeming to really care. He only cared when he got covered in muck and such, and just seemed to be doing his job begrudgingly. He didn’t necessarily harm them, he just sent them to jail, which isn’t the worst compared to below or even some of the things Eda herself has done, which is hilarious. He seems more in the gray area for now then good or bad.

He seems to operate according to convenience and benefits, with some consideration towards not wanting to risk himself by going against belos, rather than due to beliefs or a cause. Either a connection will be needed before making an appeal to sentiment, or being subordinate to Belos will have to become more inconvenient than stepping out of the fight or joining our protagonists in order for him to firmly move out of antagonist territory.

@@an1m8r Honestly, that's probably why Darius hates Alador if we really think about it. Alador never improved beyond basic abomination control, and has chosen to implement a bunch of mechanical weapons to his creations instead of perfecting the damage an abomination can already do on their own. Alador is also under Odalia's thumb, his wife, making him ultimately what Darius hates the most, complacent in servitude. Either way, it's very clear Darius has a lot of feelings about free will.

Consider Raine, who "can't stand an audience," yet was chosen as head of the bard coven. I wonder if more of the coven leaders are contradictions. Would be an interesting theme

Alador is Amity's dad, and presumably where she picked up her affinity for abomination magic The odd thing is, it's low-key implied that he's not truly passionate about his abomination work. He builds the abomitons because he's good at it and it's good business, but when we actually see him, he seems more interested in magical creatures. Maybe he got pushed to the abomination track as a kid, like Willow. And Darius calls him a hack because his work is half machine. He probably takes offense, especially if Alador is receiving praise or pay for his work, because they're not *proper* abominations, the things had to be beefed up with metal and such. He probably thinks it's a disgrace to his "art"

The protagonist fights him and they clash like rabid wolves, he gets his throat bit and arm mauled, but survives because of his nature. A friend tries to help out and she nearly loses an eye, but gets clawed in the process. Like, these guys took a beating. But their bond is stronger in the end, them promising to protect one another. *And there was the vampire god that was found buried deep in a mountain by a cult, but that's just lore I threw in.* 👁👄👁

I mean, he's specifically trying to sound convincingly loyal in that episode. Any later episodes where he appears has hint of him not being loyal to belos, like how he treats hunter, the fact he was close to the previous golden guard and the fact that when hunter sees the memory of himself becoming golden guard he mentions that darius looks sad there. Also the message raine receives about the day of unity is sent by an abomination that looks like darius. It's not a lot to go with but considering the time constraint of the show being cancelled they did a lot with a few scenes here.
