I was honestly shocked by how much my thrift store had. I live in a small rural town too, so camo and random grandma/family reunion/school t-shirts flood the isles. Stick around the “professional” clothing section if your store has one!

Thank you so much! I still love and wear that dress! Sadly, the green one went back to the thrift store. I did everything I could to try to get the cigarette smoke smell out of it, but I couldn’t do it and therefore never wore it!

Fun and inspiring thrift hall. I'm in love with this aesthetic too, and you got so many great, versatile pieces. Both dresses are stunning on you. On camera, I can't tell that the lace isn't pure white. The pants look great with the alteration. The black prairie skirt is so cute with that top. The plaid skirt is perfect for an academia look. I feel like it could go dark or light, depending on what you pair it with. The plaid silk top and the jumpsuit is a cute creative combo. The jacket has a nice 1940s vibe. The belt, shoes, bag, and mug are cute too.

Hi Kayla. I love your style and adore everything you bought. I'm not sure where you're from but your prices are so cheap you must be in the States. Where I live in Canada the prices are so much more expensive and I never find the adorable stuff like you guys do. You're so lucky to find that white coat. I would love a close up of that cup. Just to let you know Lane Bryant has been around since 1904!!! The pair of pants you found could possibly be vintage nineties (depending on the tag). 🤓-good label to 🧐 about plus size vintage clothing did exist.

Sizing in thrift stores weirds me out. I’m normally a size 8-10 nowadays more of a 12 bc gyms are closed and I don’t really care, but I fit in a size 0 the other day at the thrift store ( a pair of pants), yet I couldn’t get a size 10 over my hips and butt in a similar style of pants. Both pants were different foreign brands but I checked what they said was US size on the tag.

Great question! It all depends on the store and where it’s located. But here in central Virginia I’ve only seen it go up to $6 at Goodwills and Salvation Armys. The small businesses that buy and resell, places like Plato’s Closet, are a bit more expensive. They can get up to Target and H&M prices. I hope this helps! 💕

Oh and also, every week at Goodwill, clothes with a certain color tag are 50% off! Definitely look out for that! There is usually a sign at the front of the store!

NO! Do Not use a dry cleaner- they use toxic chemicals!😖 If it’s rayon or silk it’ll wash fine in the washer and otherwise HANDWASH; if it’s leather or a tweed jacket I’d just hang them outside both inside out and the regular way to air out- you can also go over the leather portions with a well wrung out wet cloth 🙂.

Great tips! I will definitely keep these in mind in the future! Any ideas for how to get a cigarette smoke smell out of thrifted clothes?? That’s actually why I ended up bringing one of the pieces to the dry cleaner, but I hadn’t realized they use toxic chemicals!

Kayla Marie They Def do- I would never go to a dry cleaner and I’d rather risk my clothes in a washer than go to them. Regarding cigarette smoke- possible options: Hang to air out on cold windy day Place in covered box with baking soda or charcoal in containers so as to avoid directly touching items to, hopefully, draw the smell out...(any of these measures will take quite a while) Good Luck and HAPPY HALLOWEEN❗️🎃👻🎃❗️ P.S. I’ve actually washed leather or suede items to “sanitise” them and they’ve cone out fine but it’s a crap shoot😖.

If you want to tighten pants without darts in the back I'd take some fabric out of the side seam. That way you won't have that weird v shaped creased crotch situation
