This background remind me of the basilica of Carcassonne, it has a monumental gothic architecture like this. Once I visited it at dusk, it was empty, very dark and absolutely immense. Somehow you feel very calm but this was a bit frightening to be alone in such a huge, old and dark religious place... I enjoyed it though

Exactly, Carcassone is in Aude, a region of southern France, it is a very nice region if you like medieval stuff because there's a lot of castles and towns. As for other old Gothic places,look for Gothic Cathedrals in Europe there's quite a lot (Reims, Orléans, Paris, Chartres, Strasbourg, Narbonne just to name the few I've visited).

The tracks "Empty Chapel" and "Chalice of Eternity" make me think of a post-apocalyptic religion. A pantheism that expresses the sadness and trauma of an annihilated world, yet underneath the melancholy , still voices a sublime joy and cites humanity's survival of Armageddon as testament of its own godhood.

This picture actually reminds me of one of my dreams. The building I was in was some sort of clocktower rather than a cathedral, but the sense of scale with ceilings unbelievably high up and greyish walls was the same. Also that place felt a bit like non-euclidean labyrinth...

How on Earth does this lone mortal think he can defeat them all? The moment he steps inside the forsaken building, he would be out of God's protection, and he would be on his own. The priest pushed the cathedral's doors open, a soft yet hostile wind greeting him. They were ready for him. They all were. What he was about to do...has not been approved by the Vatican.

i love how gothic architecture is associated in dark thematics and horror - completely contradictory of what gothic architecture was made for. gothic architecture was designed to make buildings fill up with light in the interiors by implementing large stained glasses into the architecture's walls

My favourite thing is going into the big main hall of an old Cathedral and singing. Usually, I will sing something from the hobbit, LOTR or a piece by Mozart or Beethoven. Sometimes I sing Norwegian songs, too. It’s awesome!! I most definitely recommend trying it!!!!!

Reminds me of wonderful times when i first played Elder Scrolls Oblivion, with the Vile Lair DLC included. That beautiful underground base called Deepscorn Hollow is quite special.
