VIDEO INFORMATION
Dark Matter is turning into a revolving door of who’s who, toss in a multiversal kidnapping operation, with a dash of Detective Mason hot on everyone’s trail. Episode 7 went way off the rails, with some WTF coo coo ca choo reveals. But no worries, because we’re going to set everything straight, having a pretty good idea of where Episode 8 will take things.
So ready yourself, grab protection if need be, as we step into episode 7 of Dark Matter.
I gotta start right at the end of the episode, where apparently two different, almost identical Jason’s are present in what looks to be Jason’s home universe. What led up to this was Jason and Amanda parting ways, don’t worry I’ll get into this later, with Jason hopelessly yet optimistically using the box with only a few vials left. On his very very last vial, Jason uses more of Amanda’s thoughts, feelings, hopes, and dreams approach, rather than multiple details of his home world, thinking about the very first night he met Daneila, and all of his feelings and memories associated with this.
This approach seems to work, as Jason crawls out of the box, through the smashed concrete, discovering an empty ampoule, knowing damn well this is his universe. Now I mentioned a few weeks ago, this what if, seeing your life IF different choices were made, reminded me of 1946’s It’s A Wonderful Life. Funny enough this ending sequence takes direct inspiration from that movie’s ending, with an ecstatic main character, joyfully running through the streets, as snow falls, running home to their family. Heck even the movie theater is playing It’s a Wonderful Life, not to make it too obvious what they were going for.
Jason spies on his family, soon seeing Jason 2, which leads him to the gun store. I gotta be honest, I watched this scene like 5 times because I couldn’t wrap my head around what I was seeing. So the first Jason that enters the store is our main Jason. The reason I say this is because he has the little rubber band ring around his ring finger, the symbol that’s been driving him back to Daniela and Charlie. The second Jason, wearing the exact same jacket, shirt, backpack, all of it, instead does not have the rubber band ring, but instead has a finger brace.

They seemed to hint that it might be the same futuristic Chicago, but that would also be way too coincidental - considering Amanda thought up the futuristic, empathetic Chicago she ended up in, butJason 2 thought up the futuristic Chicago on Ryan's behalf, that Ryan 1 ended up in.

Not sure if you noticed but as Jason 1 was leaving Amanda behind you could see that the box is also stationed in the same location as when Jason 2 left Ryan 1. As he looks back for one last time you can even see the same northern lights pop into view.

This concludes that Amanda and Ryan will use the ampules to get back to Ryan’s world AKA Jason’s original world, and where all 3 Jason’s are gonna be.. the Three Jason Problem are coming into full effect.

Yeah but there could be many worlds where the box was cemented then reopened. Original Jason should have stayed with Amanda and made a new life. The odds off picking the right universe seem ridiculously impossible unless your Jason 2 and can navigate them easily at will apparently.

The way that it breaks is key here. The fact that the cement breaks in the exact same way all but ensures the viewer that it is the same world. Quite genius actually… I’ve been worried about how I will even know if Jason makes it back to HIS world but, for me, this is a deliberate way to tell the viewer “Okay, we’re back.”

I think you missed one point - Holly is a girl that perished but donated her heart to Jason's son - he says something like "her heart continues living in me".

Right. Holly was the heart-donor. And, I assume Max received the heart when he was five or six years old--like in the photo in Jason1's world. It's possible that both children knew it other, but more than likely Max's family was told the name of the heart-donor, and as Max grew older, he suffered from guilt of living because another child ("Holly") died. A really Evil Thought is that Jason2 caused Holly's death--in order for Max to get her heart. It something Jason2 would do; and is in line with my current theory that Jason2 (who has traveled over 100 times) has been doing evil things in many different worlds. Is he responsible for Amanda's death in the world where Jason1 & Amanda visited her mother? What about the fact that a "Jason" in that same world is in prison. For what? But, as you point out: the real Mind-blower is presence of NUMEROUS Jasons'--all converging on Jason1's world. The final two episodes will be WILD.

"That girl is dead. I have her heart. I live and she doesn't" was the line. I assumed that was survivor's guilt. Maybe he didn't even know her and learned about her later. It would really be unfortunate if it was someone he actually knew, like a friend and she died in an accident. I figured that Max would have to show up alive in one of the worlds at some point. I can only imagine if both brothers came down at the same time. That was so sad and then he had to leave, knowing that he would probably never see him alive again if he made it back to his own world.

I'm gonna leave that here, but when Jason2/Evil Jason, whatever he's called, at the start of episode 06 (3 minutes mark) drives Charlie to the skate park, we have a HUGE sequence of "Jason", looking at Brooke. Whatever it is, that's a huge hint at something, story wise and it triggers something for that Jason2. If not, there would be no reason for them to show that scene. So either a memory from the past, or a future "plan" that he's cooking.

The movie theater markee has some other interesting revelations. Summer Frost is a novella about AI and Upgrade is a recent movie about moving one's mind/soul into a non-human form. Every movie playing dealing with life and the meaning thereof.

this show is the best of the year so fantastic. The world that Amanda stays is beautiful feel sorry for her she really loves Jason hope she gets the Jason from this world. I think her version from the uthopic world got in the box in run away because she was lonely no family is a huge possibility

And, the world Amanda is in "appears" to be the same world that Evil Jason marooned Ryan. Since Amanda has two capsules she & Ryan CAN travel back to Jason1's world--provided they figure out how to get their emotions in sync. Not sure these loose ends can be tied-up in two episodes.

Agreed. It was a beautiful moments yet a sad scene. How amanda realizes that she has to find for her world and happiness. Very thoughtful ❤ i hope amanda will stay at utopia world forever so she can find her happiness

I have a good theory, original Jason did not visit his family because he knew Jaye had taken over his life and was with Amanda. The scene where Jason watches his family is the 3rd Jason, whose Amanda died. He didn't suspect Jaye had taken over his life, which is why he went straight to his family, explaining the gap before the gun shop visit.

I think the “Jason #6” is because it’s the sixth Jason we’ve seen overall in the multiverse. Remember, it’s audio descriptions, so it would be calling out every Jason, in order, and would have to distinguish between each one. Along with the three universe-hopping Jasons, we have the one that never made it to the box with Amanda, the one that he watched in Episode 6, and the one we see in this episode in the universe where Max survived. That’s 6 Jasons.

When Ryan confronts Jason2 in episode 6 he shows him the vial Daniela gave him that she got from Jason 2 storage locker. One vial. Yet in episode 7 when Daniela confronts Jason2 she shows him the same vial. How is that possible if she gave that vial to Ryan to analyze????

so basically Ryan has 1 vial on him (if he has not handed over the 1 vial to imposter jason in the bar) while he was left stranded in the advanced world.....also remember Amanda decided to stay in a world which was also advanced. If they both are in the same world and they meet up... then they will have 3 vials in total, and maybe they both will come back to world 1 ("box starts to exist in the new world in the same coordinates as soon as the door is opened"). But the problem is .....if the worlds are manifestation of the traveler's imagination then ryan and amanda are in different advanced worlds. guess we just have to wait and watch lol

Jason 6 is the fourth Jason we've seen in this episode alone. I'm betting Sleeping Jason is Jason 5, Dancing Jason that we saw Jason creeping on in another episode while watching him dance with Danielle is Jason 4, etc. I think you're reading too much into the label Jason 6.

Ok, so Jason1 has the Psi logo on his bag (the Wave Function symbol), I noticed it when he’s running down the street after hugging Matt. Then I noticed it here in the video when he’s walking away from Amanda…Neither of the Jasons in the Gun Store have that logo on their bag. Neither of them is Jason1.

The second gun shop Jason is wearing both a finger brace AND the rubber band ring. As he’s entering and reveals from behind the merchandise rack, if you pause just right, you see both against his dark pants.

When I watched the whole episode with audio description on when we see Jason standing next to the bed with Jason and Daniela sleeping they mentioned that was Jason 5 and Daniela 7. I think that that is the number of different versions of them we have seen. I'm guessing Jason 3 is the one where Amanda was shot.

It was great to get a bit more world exploration this episode and I am happy Amanda2 found her ideal new home. Jason leaving her some ampoules shows the bond formed between them. Her hoping he would embark on this new life together with her and him choosing not to leave her without an option of possibly seeing him again. It is a pity she has to embark on her new life alone but I feel she will be alright. From the episode synopsis it felt like this could also be the world Jason2 abandoned Ryan on so there is a chance they might meet up and Ryan will sequence the drug from one of her ampoules. It would be nice if Blair2 could find another world to settle but I feel she would return to world2 when she recovers from her trauma. She might end up in charge of the project and try to track down Leighton2. Mason1 might know more about the warehouse than she is letting on. Jason2 knew she was onto him seeing he and Ryan were last seen together at the Village Tap. She could have just told him about knowing of Ryan heading to the industrial area to see how Jason2 reacts but she would surely suspect Ryan and Jason2 were there together and the police could be monitoring the area.

There's a 4th Jason that did what the 2nd Jason did(whom created his own box), that put Jason 3 on the same path as Jason 1, but he ended up with the damaged finger which caused the 20 sec gap..which would mean that Jason 3 is in the wrong world..🧐

It's kinda interesting how the series only slightly differs from the book. What the gun store scene only slightly hinted at is spelled out pretty explicit in the book. Also the whole storyline of what Jason 2 does in Jasons 1's world (including walling-in the box with concrete) is completely new but also the fate of Jason 2 colleagues that also went into the box wasn't part of the book.

What a great show. Every Wednesday it's a suspenseful ride. A third Jason ??? Me and my wife for sure thought that was Jason 2!!! SMH that's crazy. This season has been great!! Jason better burst into that house and kill evil Jason. Everyone pay attention to the finger snap sound effects. That means we are alternating between more than 3 Jason's. I’m convinced all these Jason Variants are like Kang 😂

One thing I noticed, is that in the scenes when Jason sees the burnt house & when he calls Daniela, they play the switch sound. But that was usually happening when we were going between Jason 1 & Jason 2. However, these scenes were right after each other and if we were following Jason 1, then we shoudlnt have heard the switch sound. This leads me to believe in those instances we were seeing other Jasons. Also what was with that scene when a Jason is about to go into this house and then hears people laughing. Was that maybe another Jason(5)?

I’m pretty sure there are three Jason present at the house when the mean one is talking with Jennifer Connelly about Ryan being back. One « backpack » Jason is listening at the front door and the other « backpack » Jason is listening at the back door. Then they both go to the guns store.

To conclude there's 6 Jason's from the descriptive audio, I think would be a mistake. You know how accurate those AI systems can be, right? Jason b looks a lot like Jason 6, so I'm thinking that's what happened... But...I guess we'll see? Awesome take though!

Amanda should have did a bit more research just to make sure that world didn't have any weird drawbacks. I kept thinking, people in that world seem happy, why is the world we live in so unhappy. I also can't believe he took the risk of being lost forever instead of starting again with Amanda who is not such a bad person to start over with.

*Jason 2 looked so surprised he needed a type of licence to buy guns, either he just wasnt aware or it's not his universe, it's Jason 3's universe, so our Jason 2 isn't home, he is in a very similar universe.* 🤟🏽🤙🏽🤟🏽 Sliders did similar stuff where they really think they are home, it's still season 1 of Dark Matter so it's likely he isn't quite home.

# SPOILER Jason 6?? I think I'm going to have to read the book for this one. There maybe other changes / switches i've missed, but ep5 has a couple of switches between Jason's. At about 7:40 into it, Jason (with a scar on his nose) and Amanda dry their clothes off in the box. This it switches to another Jason (without a scar on his nose) and Amanda, who then go to the wasp world where Blair is. Difficult to notice, mainly because the writers had Alice Braga take her jumper off Anywhoo, when they leave there, Jason has a scar again. Think there's more than one Jason and Amanda, and more than one Blair, maybe, possibly, perhaps?

Jason 3 is the Jason from the reality where Amanda got shot.. think about it.. that Jason also was trying to go home, and that Jason is also Jason 1 that got kidnapped by Jason 2. So like… now we have 3 Jasons… Jason 1 (the Jason that was with Amanda the whole time), Jason 2 (Evil Jason) and now Jason 3 (Jason 1 from the world where Amanda got killed). What’s gonna happen now?? Jason 1 and 3 will fight for that world? How many other possible worlds could have been created while Jason 1 was trying to go back to his? Meaning.. we could have many points where a new reality was created during Jason’s journey to go home.. meaning, we could have an infinite number of Jasons trying to go back to the same world.. causing and infinite paradox that will destroy all realities or something catastrophic like that 🤷🏻‍♂️. Just theories and more theories!

But we've already had the Jason who kidnapped him, i.e. 'Jason 2', the one who didn't make it to the box when Dawn killed Amanda, i.e. 'Jason 3', the one dancing with Daniela when he was watching from the street, i.e. 'Jason 4', and the one who was sleeping next to her in bed when 'Jason 1' came into their house, and met Max just afterwards, so 'Jason 5'. So this is 'Jason 6' only in that sense, not meaning that there are 3 other Jasons we've yet to meet (though there, of course, could well be 'Jason 7', and 'Jason 8' and so on and so on going forward). But this one, with the finger brace, which the Jason travelling in the 'corridor' with Amanda does not have at any point leading up to this scene, seems to be another Jason from that situation, perhaps one who in the kind of 'perfect Chicago' Amanda stayed in, hurt his finger somehow while there, though in fact more likely in the last universe he was in just before this one, i.e. the one where he was considering replacing 'Jason 5' and met Max; maybe he hurt his finger getting out of the house quick, maybe didn't even meet Max, or whatever, maybe just some trivial thing where he hurts his 'pinkie' and maybe loses the rubber band on his ring finger in the process. So this seems to be saying two Jasons have found their way back to their original world (and it is the original for both of them). There could be more, of course, potentially at least, but that could create a way too messy plot. I kind of imagine one of these is going to end up with Daniela again, and the other one is going to have to accept that he can't be, and maybe end up with Amanda. Maybe the one in this universe, or maybe even to go back to the 'perfect Chicago' and find the one he left behind; i.e. 'his Amanda', even though they're originally from different worlds. Of course in this scenario both 'Jason 1' and 'Jason 6' just left her behind. So it's interesting stuff. They both have found their home world, their Daniela and Charlie, and they both were with the same Amanda, and both had the same whole story, except whatever happened to Jason 6's finger to delay him a little and make them 'create two divergent universes' at that point, maybe before he got in the box after leaving the last world, or maybe in it, or in the corridor (though I would imagine that theoretically no such divergence can happen due to any choices made in the corridor; though I'd say probably the whole story would fall apart if you get deeply into the theory). Much comes down to how many possible divergences there can be which is kind of about how minor a difference can create that (to me the whole theory that this can happen at all is dubious, that people will always just make their 'world 1' decisions, and there could never be any divergences). If all sorts of little choices can make different Jason's and diverging paths, then there could be so many of him, but also so many only very slightly diffferent versions of his 'original world', meaning in a sense he can never get back to it, it is gone, there are only multiple paths away from it, though, at the same time, that makes them all 'his original world'. So then there are many homes for many Jasons to travel to, and many versions of 'both of his lives' since this story started, and the lives of others he knows, turning into a potential massive multitude and countless 'crossed wires'. Anyway, it seems there are 3 Jasons here, back in 'World 1' (or one of the multitude of divergent 'World 1s'): the 'usurper Jason' (Jason 2) and two very recently diverged versions of the 'original Jason', called for audio commentary reasons 'Jason 1' and 'Jason 6'.

Do you think the world where Amanda stayed at is the same world OG Ryan got left at from Jason 2?? It looks very similar with the northern lights and just how technological the worlds looked. Since Jason1 gave Amanda two doses, what if Amanda and OG Ryan run into each other somehow and since Amanda has two doses they go through the box again to get back to Jason1?? Idk just a theory

The first time Jaye used the box ,he opened the box of pandora,now with the ability to travel to your parallel universes,we will actually have them(other versions of Jason and Amanda,who took different decisions) manifest and appear all over different universes.Every decision Jaye made and later Jason 1 lead to a multitude of variations of universes

surly if there are infinate jasons trying to get home, by that point there are infinate worlds they are trying to get back to (very similar words where like someone somewhere dropped a coffee), but the bigger changes would be the world where evil jason leaves (when he was talking to Amanda about it - and Jason 1 could just have swooped back into his old life). I'm having a hard time with the multiple jasons, because theoretically we would have mutiple of these people literally showing up all over the multiverse, not just Jason but Ryans and that CEO guy, and Amandas. We did see this concept breifly in the wasp world, where it was caused by another version coming through the door months before we arrived there in the show...why are there not literally shit tons of evil jasons is the question? We should be seeing him everywhere by now because of all the offshoots of choses and universe hopping he's been doing. lol.

Why is this new Jayson called Jason 6?? And even more so why would he agree to be happy leaving "his wife" with Jayson 1. Because from what I understand this third Jayson is a direct offshoot of Jayson 1, that is, in his head he is the original Jayson from World 1, and in fact it is, because there is no world for the third Jayson that is not the World of Jayson 1.

show is full of plot holes but gets your mind wondering. I.e, once every possibility is possible literally anything can happen so the anythings we could understand would have to be so structured making them the most unlikely things to happen meaning that they should not be the things actually happening.

Jason 3 split off from our jason sometime during his time in the box/corridor. I think we will see multiple jasons coming to this world. In the audio commentary track they call the 2nd jason in the gun store jason 6. So theres at least 3 other jasons coming back home to get rid of science jason.

@robrahb5283 the only Jasons that have a chance of making it to his world, realistically, are Jasons that know where the box is and have access to the amp. Mind you these Jasons would all have to know about the existence of his world as well. Any random Jason just wouldnt pop up at his door. There is an obvious loop that was started from the Amanda scene. This is what they appear to be focusing on. But literally every major choice that Jason made since he came out of the box has created a new world.

For a moment I thought Jason 1 experienced a short term memory lose as a side effect of the drug that he’s been taking, until the brace was mentioned but also I dont think branching timeline is a thing since theyre not messing up with time. They are following 1 timeline only, theyre just visiting alternate realities. The fact that Jason 2 can revisit his own reality that means branches cant be created because theyre following 1 timeline. But why would there be two Jason’s wearing identical outfits thinking of the same thing, which was buying a gun, with almost the same sentences used. There can never be 2 identical Jasons because its called alternate reality for a reason. Well dang, I dont know anymore but that other Jason who bought the knife and pepper spray shouldnt have existed at all. This makes me want to read the whole book. They better explain this thoroughly next episode cuz this looks like a plot hole to me.

wrap your head around it better. Yes it is same timeline, this has nothing to do with timeline, there is 3 jasons now, and possible more. And there is no 2 indentical Jasons, you can spot differences in scene, but even if they looked same, it does not mean that they are same, expiriences and decisions make difference between them. i hope that helps. and sorry for bad english
