From a certain perspective this is the case. In Shin's case, it's likely the only healthy outcome is to part with Sou, unless he himself can find his own way to redefine it. Personally I believe the ultimate outcome of the Logic Route will be an end to Sou; where the Emotion Route Shin dies and Sou lives, instead Sou will die and Shin will live. But Sou is also defined by the people who knew him. Kanna, who saw his kindness and love, didn't know Sou to be that at all. Even after everything she still calls him Sou, because to her Sou was a good person.
