Maybe my least favorite pve but my favorite pvp mechanics. The animation cancels, super parries, left handed movesets, power stancing...so much depth. Can't roll spam or estus without punishment... Great fashion...interesting movesets. Favorite weapon was that half lance/hammer with poison. Didnt love soul memory and some other choices, but still miss the game.

Absolutely hype for this series, can't wait to learn new shit again. I'm 2 days behind on the streams due to life, so unfortunately won't be watching live until I catch up - but I'll leave these vods on in the background to support your dumbass regardless x

I've become numb to dark souls 2 over the years after putting thousands of hours into pvp but every once in a while that title screen theme hits in just the right way and makes me remember why I fell in love with the game way back in the day

A stat related to evasion could work in a game where there is a different stat that relates to static poise. Maybe the evasion stat is only active during movement, while the poise stat is active while standing your ground. Tbh probably better if it wasn't stat related at all, but gear related. Probably horribly unbalanced, but I'm not a video game dev, I'm just a guy with maybe an idea

with the whip durability, if youre going with it as main weapon, its best to have several copies alongside a shitload of repair powder. hopefully the crow's rng is helpful in gaining more

I think adaptability shouldn't be lower than 90 on any starting class , that would have fixed it . Also better explanation of the effect , although that can be said about plenty of mechanics in the dark souls series

30:40 AGI messes with Dark Souls formula of learning from mistakes. In all the other games, the roll timings don't change, they're fixed. That means you can learn from both your mistakes, and the mistakes you witness from others. When the i-frame window is mobile, it both interferes with that learning process, and makes the game less about your technical skill, and more about the stat choices you made (which, in this case, you have to do to get what many would consider the 'proper' Dark Souls experience) and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, tuning the focus to be more about the 'RPG' and less about the 'action' in Dark Souls, I don't think it was the right choice for this series. If we're asking whether or not it made the game better or worse, I'd have to say, overall, it was worse for the quality of the game than better. I wouldn't exactly call your take 'hot,' maybe like, warm, like, you just had the heater on full blast for an hour but it's been ten minutes and it's really cold out, so the heater has kind of cooled down since then.

This is my 2nd favorite dark souls game but after DS1 there is a huge drop off... unless we count cinders because that mod perfects DS3.

I don't understand the persistent spergoidal negative obsession with DS2. I played all of the Soulsborne games, and I personally really like SotFS. Honestly feels like it's DS1 fanboys being unable to cope with the fact DS2 was different from 1.

Dark Souls 2 does itself *zero* favors in the lore department. It takes olympic stretches to connect to dark souls, among other obnoxious problems, and whatever *NOT* souls game this game began development as, should have stayed that way. But. It has some PHENOMINAL. FASHION.
