The unique thing about this game for me is the narrator never becomes annoying, even when I've heard the same lines many times.

3:47 I love the fact that the Arbalest was on siren's side when the narrator said "Self preservation is paramount, at any cost!" It's almost like she knew the expedition was doomed and decided that joining the monsters was the only chance for her survival.

I bought this game because of the artwork and the narrator voice in the trailer. Now, 160h+ later, his voice still gives me the goosebumps. "Grievous injury, palpable fear" perfectly defines my feelings when my heroes get critted!

The narrator is actively using demoralization, that's why the game will break your will to even play, excellent athmosphere.

Lots of well-deserved praise for the narrator, but let's not forget to give credit to whoever wrote all the dialogue!! Incidentally, I have no clue who that was as the official website doesn't single out anybody as the writer. Perhaps it was the creative director himself???

It is only now that I realize that "remember that overconfidence is a slow and insidikus killer" is a literal warning against the narrator HIMSELF, fanning the flames of your confidence and vanity whenever you get a crit.

As a huge fan of lovecraft's work I absolutely love how the narrator really sells the delivery of his lines, hell,, they sound like they're straight from one of his stories themselves. Nice job putting a bunch of them together

Wouldn't it be cool to learn all of these phrases and just use them on daily basis instead of regular speech... Like, when somebody whines about not liking a party, you say "Those without stomach for this place must move on". Or, when meeting a Karen: "Towering. Fierce. Terrible. Nightmare made material". When you fuck up: "More dust… more ashes… more disappointment" When lights in the house go out: "And now… the darkness holds dominion - black as death". All of it, of course, said in the deepest voice you can muster.

Ever since Darkest Dungeon's release I come back here and elsewhere every now and again to be reminded of the best god damn narrator there ever was.

I'm so glad i started playing this game without any spoilers and just being delighted by how the narrator adds to this and how it makes you fear death while also making you feel like a powerful hero but also reminds you that your mortality is a curse that you'll always be tied to, specially against bosses

Remember to praise the writer as well as the voice actor my fellow Dankers!!

A friend linked me this video, and I'm really grateful, not just because it's awexome, but specifically for the thrill I got starting at 0:30... Let's just say I really want to talk to whoever wrote & directed that dialogue, because I would swear the similarity between those lines (not only the words but the intonations too) are uncannily similar to the attack quotes of the Protoss Archon from Starcraft! Even if it was a total coincidence, I loved it & I'm interested in this game now, so thanks.

The line if they stun you "Ringing ears, blurred vision... the end approaches" really paints the picture about being stunned. just love it! Also I will never forget the first time my torch went out after camping: "and now darkness holds dominion... Black as death". just wow

Darkest Dungeon is really good at making you feel despair. Especially when you got 2 heroes at death's door, one of them being one of your oldest recruits

I love the triumph and malevolent glee in his voice when he says "Eradicated !". The narrator is such a key part of what makes Darkest Dungeon feel so special.

And this is why, decent trinkets on your characters and a Jester is a must on most of the expeditions

The only way to get a good night's sleep is to listen to this.
