I was just watching “Children Underground” recently, I haven’t finished it yet. I was not surprised but still shocked at how eerily and tragically adult the children are in their behaviour, language and demeanour, especially the younger ones. For most of them their lives sadly don’t seem to have improved very much as adults. There’s also a similar exposé documentary from 2007 called “Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children”, I first saw it in 2015 and I was shocked at the conditions those kids were growing up in.

The last time I saw Troy Boner was at the 1999 renaissance faire in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I’m originally from Omaha, but I’d moved to Lincoln about 8 months before, and ended up working at Ren-faire with some SCA friends. Troy was friends with some of the same people, and he stayed at our camp that weekend. I knew I had met him before, but I couldn’t figure out where until that night when everyone was sitting around the campfire drinking. I overheard Troy say that he was hiding out from the cops “over that old boys town thing” and that’s when it all clicked, I met him at boys town when I was 12, I think he was like 16, and a bunch of us smoked out on the roof. That was the first time I ever got high, but damn sure wasn’t the last. I don’t blame him for all that shit though, he was just as naive as the rest of us.

It all comes from hypnosis recovered memories… was it real or a figment? Can’t tell.

I stumbled across the documentary a few years ago and was absolutely shocked from start to finish. There is one scene in the film that even now brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. It's this image of the little girl laying down on the lawn to sleep and her brother laying down next to her to comfort, reassure and protect her as always. Which at that moment only showed me a picture of 2 lost children, but 2 siblings, who give each other real trust and real love under such cruel conditions.. It was just this picture.. At the end of the documentary it just leaves you incredibly sad and with a boundless feeling of powerlessness, which I first need a few hours to do letting the whole thing sink in emotionally.. 😔

I started this video expecting to see the same documentaries everyone recycles in their ‘most disturbing’ lists. Once again, you’ve brought me content I’ve never even heard of. Which is something because I’m always looking for new ways to lose faith in humanity lol. I genuinely love this channel.

Never forget, these are only the things getting out. Now imagine what you don't know, never will hear about. If you think this stuff is shocking, you'd be in for a wild ride. There's a good reason why movies such as Sound of Freedom are being stigmatized, criticized and boycotted by certain groups, even the cinema owners themselves. They're all part of stuff like this.

As a Nebraskan I can confirm the Larry King/Trafficking ring story as at least being pretty common knowledge in the area. There is a good book on the matter called "The Franklin Cover Up". Lots of components of the story are exaggerations or outright myths, I think often from kids who were abused young and imagination crossed over with memory, but the crux of the story is undeniably true.

Good video. A couple comments on 'Til Death Do Us Part. 1. You note feeling a void at the end of the film. The final scene, of the two inmates (won't call them patients) sitting together at (I think) dawn, looking out at the courtyard. It has been established these two love each other. This scene shows a genuine love between these people. It left me with this a warmth from their spirit. That no matter how the surrounding system fails them, mistreats them, confines them, and then abandons them, the resilience from connection and love can carry at least some of them forward. I've rarely seen that spirit shown in such strength in any film. I found that beautiful. 2. The length. This is a common trait of Wang Bing films. Wang Bing focuses on subjects who were previously given no voice, no face. Be it through their work into an already decaying system (West of the Tracks, his new trilogy), interned to rotting asylums ('Til Death Do Us Part), or government punishment (Dead Souls). It's less about conforming to the idea of ideas for film length, but rather making sure that these subjects are observed and heard/seen. Wang Bing's "Dead Souls", and Peter Watkins "The War Game" would be potential good inclusions for future parts of this series. Thanks for reading!

Kinda shocked that I actually knew someone in that Boys Town footage "Troy"... I was 14 in 1993, and to think back, it's crazy all of us kids knew what was going on at Boys Town, yet I never knew of a single parent that ever believed any of us... As a dad now, I'm grateful my kids made it through their teen years without experiencing any of the madness we did here in the late 80's through mid 90's... I honestly wouldn't doubt that it never stopped...

I remember that children underground documentary. I was like in 4th grade when it was aired on tv. I watched it with my dad. I didnt understand exactly what was going on obviously. But I do remember the scenes of the kids huffing the paint. I always tried to remember what the documentary was as I got older but I could never find it. Good research. And it’s such a shame that humans can be so cruel towards eachother.

This is so heart crushing. These victims spoke out. All they got was punishment for doing so. This makes me wish that there were covert groups working directly against these sickos. Because working above ground so to speak, leaves people vulnerable. These sick people operate underground but are also people of power and privilege on the surface.

The mispronunciation of key words, names and places really takes away from the content. The horrific crimes committed in Eritrea and the victims truly deserve the respect of being in the least, pronounced properly. It takes very little research to learn how to pronounce a word.
