Darklord Despia Ghostrick Purrely | Theory Crafting Experiment | Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

A fun little experiment I finally decided to try out using the Ghostrick engine that was popular a while back and being teched in to Purrely, but of course, I put an additional twist to it on trying to find a way to pull of Ghostrick Angel of Mischief alternate win condition of winning the duel by having 10 materials (Spoiler Alert: I managed to pull it off once so far but was not as impressive since it was against a Self Burn Deck). In order to do this, I teched in Strike of the Monarchs and Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force which are technically bricks in the hand but can still be useful to discard for their respective graveyard effects of changing all monster to any declared attribute (also useful for summoning The First Darklord) and being able to grab astral force back to the hand when the alternate wincon is achievable. It is a gimmick strategy but wanted to see if it was possible lol
Other than that, the decklist is mostly XYZ focused as the Ghostrick engine along with the optional Utopic Future extra deck monsters take up a lot of space. The Utopic Future are not necessary but having them as an option to set up protection with a monster negate and then stealing it alone would sometimes win games. The main reason or focus I was going for using the Ghostrick engine is due to its awesome resource/follow-up loop while also being able to bring out more dark fairies, if needed to achieve the materials required to fusion summon The First Darklord as priority, through summoning multiple Angel of Mischief. For example, turning 2 Light Purrely into 2 Angel of Mischief and it would sometimes come up where they would help put lethal on board.
I may do a follow-up on this idea with some adjustments and potentially attempting to pull off the alternate win condition some more lol
Replays are not all necessarily top tier highlights but just my own showcase and experience of wins using this decklist and what decks I've encountered/faced-off against during the current meta season in ranked ladder duels and events

I love your videos... I also think darklord desperately needs an engine one card combo that can summon the first darklord, I don't care, with the game nowadays this idea is not even broken, it's just decent

Thank you and I agree! I think we at least need a card that special summons from the deck while also being able to mill our spells and traps to the graveyard or anything that helps us brick less and extend plays. Also, a searchable in-archetype fusion spell probably something like Branded Fusion would be nice🤔

There will be a day we get that spell and Darklord will terrorize the meta TFD is game whenever it gets summoned locals WCS regionals I've been sharpening the strategy for the last 4 years

@@edgarsuarezvega6540 yes, I agree TFD, is a strange card, sometimes I feel he's weak, but I remember beating a snake eyes because they literally couldn't do anything to him because of his effect and how high his stats are

@@avengedchaos7 look, this idea is balanced if you think about the format, a continuous spell card that can summon once per turn using cards from hand, field and only 1 from your deck, also, this continue spell card can negate any card that activates its effect vanishing 3 darklords from your grave, once per chain, honestly, darklords can't negate shit. And this is not even broken, this will more likely give you 2 negations, and if you can't summon but dark fairies it's not broken at all, just a quick idea

I really liked and enjoyed the idea of using Ghostrick Angel of Mischief which synergizes very well, I'm always just thinking of ways to get more dark fairy monsters on board or in the graveyard 😅

Yes of course, it always does, I just don't use it much unless I'm trying to be competitive or trying to rank up which I rarely do since I'm always just testing/experimenting lol

Is this deck viable for the ladder towards master 1? If not, then what changes can be made to make it more competitive while maintaining the darklord essence without relying on branded ?

It's hard to tell since it is hard to get to there with Darklord but pure Purrely is able to make it to Master so it might be viable, but I feel it could at least be good for Diamond Rank The changes I'll have to get back to you on that since I still have one more version I need to test out that involves Super Poly and trying to minimize the number of Purrely cards. I'm not sure if you are referring to the Despia cards as relying on Branded, but it would be difficult taking them out since they help out a lot, but I can try seeing if I could come up with a more pure-ish Darklord Purrely version that might be viable, probably a hybrid between the Super Poly and Ghostrick versions.

With Branded I Mainly meant the Branded fusion package. I know a lot of people reach master with branded fusion + darklords but that’s just essentially a low level branded Despia deck instead of being a darklord focused deck.

Ok, wasn't sure since a lot of people consider Despia as Branded but I feel like they are still their own archetype (which I hope they expand more into their lore plus more Dark Fairy monsters) and I agree, which is why I've been trying to focus more on Darklord as much as possible
