Clearly one of the highlights of the early Norwegian BM scene, so touching, beautiful, weird and bewitching at the same time. I’ve discovered them around 1995/1996 and it still makes it as yesterday, so profound and inspired. Hail Arcturus !

This is music for mind and soul! The early norwegian scene offers every atmospheric mood in different ways. This is like dirfting away in the universe and high quality musicianship, ofc when such talents where involved in the legendary Arcturus. For me they were far above Dimmu Borgir also as the Covenant and Old Mans Child was, Emperor were the creators of this style ofc

Personally think its their best work...they were never able to duplicate the atmosphere on this release..the .mighty Samoth guitar for added badassery

Personally i prefer this version of Rødt Og Svart compared to the one on Aspera... This is darker, more emotional, keys are better mixed even if guitars are buried, singing is just as good, and especially HH's drumming is a bit more reserved but groovier, just as fast, love his cymbals work here with hi-hat and ride... Drum's sound on Aspera was not as good in my opinion, here it sounds better...

Remember smoking some really good hasjis and listen to this back in the days. Oh, what gloriously mental journeys I had. Amazing... I really love this masterpiece. Edit. Some of the lyrics are directly translation from Tolkien. But no credits are given.

The first album is too melodic for me, some parts are ok but when it moves into a bright, happy sounding part I have to stop it. This EP is much more conservative.
