Darksiders 1: Got recked in the reviews, got called a edgy zelda clone. It was a bright, fun zelda clone with popping colors. Darksiders 2: Got recked in the review for being a boring Diablo 2. It was a bright, fun Diablo 2 rip off with fun platforming Darksiders 3: Here we go again. In two years these people will be writing about "We look back at a forgotten franchise, Darksiders was amazing" for the 3 time again.

I’m having a lot of fun with it, but all of the reviews made me think I have shitty taste in games lol This is the first time in a while I’ve been at such odds with most reviews. I don’t see what the problem is with just being a fun game. I play games to have fun. I hope they’re able to make a Darksiders 4. A game with no micro-transactions or filler shit is a god-send these days

Darksiders 3 - 1 out of 5 Fallout 76 - 2.5 out of 5 If you cant see an issue with the above then you seriously need to re-evaluate your view of video games.These so called reviewers will steer you wrong time and again if you choose to rely on their opinions. I chose NOT to do that and I'm thoroughly enjoying this game, having played the first two titles in the series its not perfect but no way is this game anywhere close to the trainwreck they will have you believe. Fallout 76 is a MT filled, bug riddled £49.99 / $60.00 clusterfuck of a live service game served up to gamers on a plate of complete lies and marketing nonsense, it probably sold more despite all this. DS3 lacks all of these industry trends bar the $200 collectors crap and (probably) cut content DLC packs scheduled post release. Gamers need to stop behaving like sheep.

I would love us to encourage the developers to keep the franchise alive, learn and make it better next time. For sure It needs work, but It brings Joy to see that they are trying to keep this amazing franchise alive.

oh man dude. I'm so glad that people like you exist who understand context and stuff. The Darksiders Franchise had a tough time the last years and even when DS3 isn't on the same level as 1&2 I'm just glad that it exists and I think it is a good start for gunfire to build on for further releases. It would really make me sad to see games like this flopp. We need more smaller B titles instead of major AAA Games full of microtransactions and shit.

I'd take this game over recent "AAA" game developers. Hell, this game is a masterpiece compared to Fallout 76, Battlefield 5 and Black Ops 4

I'll take Darksiders 3 for 60$ then 10 lazy, same-y "AAA" title full of MTs and agenda pushing for the same price. This game is a breath of fresh air as just a "Fun Game" in a market of Fallout 76s and Battlefield Vs that aren't worth the hard drive space.

The use of Legacy of Kain music at 1:26 caught me by surprise so much that I had to rewind a few times and almost made me forget what this review was about for a sec there. xD

Im really enjoying it, however my main issue is the constant load times. I could be just walking or mid combat and get a frozen screen, with a loading symbol. Its the most consistent thing about the game.

And having watched thousands of videos, having seen youtubers come and go, trends rise and fade into obscurity over the years, even with all that, you are the person whose opinion (at least when it comes to games) matters to me the most. But that's not all, I've also come to appreciate fully the sincerity and professionalism with which you approach your work and passion. Skill Up, I cannot recommended Darksiders 2 enough. It is amazing! The story is very Lord of the rings esc and had a prefect blend of puzzles and large scale boss fights.

This review is SPOT ON. As a long time Darksiders fan, this is not a bad game. It does not deserve the harsh criticism some have given it. It isn't really what I wanted out of a 3rd Darksiders, but that's just my preference. I personally like 1 the best, but others really like the build diversity of 2. Overall, it's a solid game for what it is. An action adventure game, made by a small studio, on a small budget. Yes it fells old school, AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. How anyone can say that's a negative is beyond me. I miss games like this. They're so few and far between. Darksiders 1 was so good to me, because it felt like a Zelda game but with a darker tone. I can honestly say it's the best Zelda type game not made by nintendo. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH about how important your point at 9:52 is. People need to temper expectations and leave room for games/devs like this. People need to stop expecting ridiculous things from a dev that obviously can't deliver something like the big AAA devs can. When nobody gives the underdog a chance, they die out. When the industry sees that games like this don't do well, they just stop making them, and then guess what happens? We get more shit bricks like Fallout 76. If you like action adventure games, give it a chance. If you're into souls like games, it will probably tickle your fancy a bit. If you're not into that kind of unforgiving difficulty, I recommend putting it on story difficulty. Ralph, if you enjoyed this you really should go back and play the others.

The balance and careful consideration employed in this review are worthy of praise. You clearly understand what the limitations were in this title (or even some that may have been apparent through gameplay previews), yet see the potential that this game has. As a potential customer myself I could already surmise that the environments alone would never WOW me, but I still remain one of those people that played the hell out of Nier;Automata multiple times (with its drab environments) on both Voice tracks as the only differentiator. Gunfire Games have shown something worthwhile here; the global gaming community should indeed give this team a fair shake to start with *then* really critique in a constructive fashion. Regarding your assessment regarding pricing.... You're correct; if this title had a locked in price of just slightly above $30 (maybe $32.99 - $35), with a hefty launch discount of $23.99ish; I do believe that people's opinions would have been tempered accordingly.

Pre-ordered cause I'm a big Darksiders fan and I like it very much so far. But I miss my horse and open areas. 👍

Hey fun fact at the 7:30 mark of this video I had to restart my game from the beginning because of a game breaking bug where the tornado above you keeps the rock from falling to the bottom of the belt when you step on the trigger for the puzzle.

Skill Up are there enemy executions in this game ? The first 2 Darksiders you had enemy executions like in God of War and it’s part of why I enjoyed the combat so much. I have yet to see any executions from all the gameplay I have seen.

OMG. The Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver music made me remember I want a remake of it so bad. Can you imagine a remake of Legacy Of Kain with the same quality of the remake they are doing of Resident Evil 2?

This review sums up the game perfectly. I’m so glad I found this channel and Layman Gaming this year. After so many amazing stories and big games like GoW, RDR2, Spider-Man and Assassins Creed Odyssey this game is what I needed. Just some good ole combat with some badass enemies. Also I’ve played Darksiders 1 and 2 to no end and the remasters. This game is better to me gameplay and map wise and the puzzles are perfectly placed and not annoying or repetitive like the previous titles. It just feels like a solid game which is what I wanted it to be. Nothing more nothing less.

I will buy this game simply because I want Darksiders to survive. And I know its background since I follow it from its inception when the first trailer was shown for the original darksiders. I remember Darksiders 1 getting meh reviews. I had a laugh with it and Darksiders 2 was a sick game.

Considering we weren't going to get another Darksiders I think we should be happy with what we got. Sure it's not the best of the series but they did the best with the budget they had. Considering what the budget was I actually think they did an amazing job! If the fans support this game while voicing the fact that it needs to be done better next time then it'll hopefully get the next sequel with a bigger budget and better gameplay. But if we don't support it because it's not the best game in the series (a series that was dead by the way) then we won't ever see another Darksiders and that would be a damn shame!

Having played both the first and second Darksiders back when they launched; I was immediately a fan of the apocalyptic scale, Biblical references, and Art of the universe. So I’m ALWAYS happy to see this IP continue. I remember playing the first Darksiders and thinking one day we’d be able to play Co-op online as ALL FOUR Horsemen! And there’d be the loot system from the Darksiders 2, and quests and puzzle to do with your friends. THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN THE NEXT(and most likely last) DARKSIDERS. 4 Horsemen, 4 GAMES! I have faith in you Gunfire Games!

As you said, the big problem is the price tag. I love B games myself (big consumer of eurojank RPGs), but if you charge full price, expect to be compared to full-price releases.

Darksiders 3 has mechanics similar to Dark Souls and because of that reviewers gave it a low score. Makes sense.

About camera. I was using target lock only on enemies, which is hard enough to kill 1v1(bosses,minibosses). In most cases it's unnecessary to use it. Also, indicators are pretty useful, if you LISTEN the sounds enemies make behind you.

If you're a fan of the previous games, get this game. Maybe on a sale if you're not a hardcore fan. Don't let the reviews put you off TOO much. Darksiders has never been huge. It's a smaller, contained franchise, but it's always been fun and epic and a breath of fresh air. These scores are due to the fact that many are comparing it to massive AAA titles that have come out in the last year. That being said, the game has its issues. It should have been a ~40$ game, but it's a good game.

Good fair review +Skill Up! I will definitely be picking up Darksiders III, despite its flaws. Smaller studios need the support, so that in the future they can grow and maybe even acquire a bigger budget and team for future games.

I don't normally comment but I respect you Skill Up for your constant in depth and fair reviews of games, so I shall. I just finished the game last night, played early Sunday and managed to make time since I love the series and the idea behind it. I've played all of them, 1, 2, and now 3 and all dlcs that came with them. They were one of the first games I learned how to mod on a console, so this series is important to me. For the most part I agree with your points, the world does remind me of Legacy of Kain in its art and environment. It lacks the narrative I'd hope but makes up for it in the overall lore and focus, and in that way this feels the most story driven of the series because of it. The bosses and fights alone made my year because of how unique and kinda badass the series is known for, my favorite being how you deal with the games final boss. I grew annoyed by the camera, but also how their lacked checkpoints and a real way to earn back lost items. I'm still annoyed I lost 80k souls because after defeating a certain Sin in their area it was followed by a cutscene, making me unable to retrieve the souls i could actually see in the background... I define this series by a simple title that few comprehend. It's one of the best B rated games on the market, the whole series is really. But that does not make it unplayable or awful by some biased, idiotic excuse. It's a game from a studio who isn't well trenched behind other ips, can't crank out blockbusters again and again. It's a series that flies under the radar because the big boys nowadays own the playground, hell a certain RDR update just popped out earlier this week. But I had fun, fun because it was a game I had been waiting since announced, not because I hoped for much I saw the footage and early clips and knew not to be too overjoyed. But because in a time of game changing a series like this has a chance to shine properly, because it shows that the industry as a whole has you pulled one way or another to keep your attention. As you said their are so many game by studios that demand your constant following, and as a gamer and developer it's quite shameful. I love a game that never gets old, I enjoy the time in one that is always being worked on, but I remember the ones that gave me chance to play and finish because their tale is over, and I can never forget it. That's what Darksiders 3 is, a game to play to have fun, sometimes grueling fun, but when over its always going to be in your mind. Maybe bad, I prefer good, but it's there because you know it's done right by its makers, and that makes it a winner.

Darksiders fuking rocks buy it

I forgot this game was coming out and when i saw the advertisement for it this week my first thought was im going to buy this regardless if its shit because i support this series and want to see it completed. I played the game last night and i truly appreciate the old school feel it gives. Still love the art work. I know im gonna have a good time with the game and was surprised with the dark souls route they took.

I feel the same way. It's why I had so much fun playing Knack 2 last Christmas. It felt so refreshing after playing games attempting to be as big as possible.

I like to think of this as a game on a tight budget but still delivered, besides telling a compelling story that is. people are exaggerating when calling this trash. I've seen and played trash games, darksiders 3 might have its faults but it is not one of them. this is average at worst.

Darksiders was considered by most of us to be a spiritual successor to the Soul Reaver games, and part of that was due to the oldschool inclusion of puzzles and environmental challenges.... also the story and VO
