Since the beginning of time, the Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell have waged war, with neither side ever being able to gain an advantage over the other. Thus, in time, a mediator group named "The Charred Council" arose to maintain order and balance; to this end, they created a warrior brotherhood, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (War, Death, Strife, and Fury) to intervene and enforce their laws where and when necessary. Amidst the conflict, humanity emerged. Foreseeing that humans would be integral and contribute to the balance's stability, the council declared them a third Kingdom, the "Kingdom of Man." The Council brokered a truce between Heaven and Hell: the Seven Seals were created to be broken when the Kingdom of Man was ready for the Endwar.
In the present day, War arrives on earth where the final battle appears to have begun; armies of angels and demons wage war with mankind caught in the middle. Confronting Abaddon , the general of Heaven's army, War discovers that the other Horsemen have not arrived and the Seventh seal has not been broken. Surprised by War's presence, Abaddon is killed by the demon Straga. War battles Straga and is defeated, but is saved from death by the Charred Council. The council accuses War of destroying the balance by bringing about the Apocalypse prematurely, aiding in the destruction of Mankind, and siding with the forces of Hell. War protests his innocence and demands a chance to find the real culprits. The Council agrees on two conditions: he lose his former power and be bound to one of their servants, The Watcher, who has the power to kill him if he strays from his mission.

@@adelbechtoula Indeed. Samael was almost as strong as Lucifer himself? Which is probably the reason why Lucifer conjured up the scheme of having Abbadon take the fall and make HIM the Destroyer? If he had bestowed that Power onto Samael, the Blood Prince would surely would become more powerful then Lucifer: Powerful enough to overthrow him! Thats why Lucifer chose Abbadon, and his 5 Chosen to subdue and imprison Samael instead? War being on a quest for vengeance to not only wipte out the Chosen, but end the Destroyer as well, provided a pérfect opportunity for Samael to let War do his dirty work fór him; Slay the 4 Chosen that guarded the 5th, by wielding a portion of Samael's stolen power? With Samael's power restored, and War eliminating Straga, ánd the Destroyer, Lucifer's masterplan was failing, granting Samael the full opportunity to plot and scheme against Lucifer; Attempt to gáin more power to overthrow the Prince of Lies? Perhaps alone, Perhaps the Horsemen would do it fór him. Either way, Samael was next in line in terms of Power. Besides Lucifer, there wasnt a Demon in Hell that'd actually be able to stand against Samael! And Lucifer's corrupted plot to trigger the Endwar was to be found out sooner or later; Samael nééded to regain his stolen Power, if he was to CLAIM his spot 'next in line'!

Everyone always miss one of ulthane's cutscenes. After you are told to gather the fragments of the blade you can talk to Ulthane and it is there where War tells him Abaddon is the Destroyer, Ulthane loses his shit and War says he will get the Armageddon blade reforged.

I love Darksiders! But the combat just feels kinda boring and repetitive compared to other franchises like DMC for example. I'm enjoying these games more by just watching them on KZfaq. Feels like I'm watching a badass movie series instead lmao.

Dude definitely. I usually hate when people say "When are we going to get (thing) the movie?" Cause not everything has to be that, but Darksiders is definitely the one that deserves a cinematic outing. The art is so beautiful but limited by system limitations and clunky and unpolished game feel. I know it's a huge ask, but the trailer for Genesis is what I wish the game looked like in engine.

Thank you for putting this together...I love this game, for the characters, for the story, for the biblical tie ins...but I suck at it while playing. It is perfect seeing and understanding how War was setup and played. War's final response was epic and completely understandable. The Character's face from Arthas (Warcraft3) and the visuals are very inspired by WoW, the puzzles & Dungeon-Crawling from Zelda and so on and so forth.. ;-) The mixture and the originality in the use of the mechanics has always been great in this series

The 2 main problems i have with the game is 1. There's not much attack other than the basic attack, no combos or anything, even in his wrath form. But then again, it was made quite a long time ago 2. The health bars ain't visible

Ok not sure if I’m late to the party here but I didn’t know this till yesterday, there’s another cutscene with Ulthane if you talk to him after completing eden(before you get all the shards). Is that also in the og version? Because if so I completely missed it the 5 times I replayed it, just found it when I was playing this version

Cutscenes are pretty good for what they are and considering this game's release date. Only thing that feels almost buggy is the environment sound during the cutscenes. Take the one with the black hammer for example where he smashes away a car... Sounds way to quiet and far away 🤷‍♂️

I'm a bit late, but it's likely because of his settings. Granted D1 didn't have the greatest cinematic sound effects in general, not like the sequel, but they were a lot better for me than this. The music also was very soft here, noticeable in 1:34:00 especially around the time the soundtrack 'Eden' plays.

After 7th final seal has been broken, its duty of horsemen to come for the call to fight apocalypse (without choosing any sides), apparently even from death itself. Death dies in Darksiders 2. He is in one meteor out of 3.

Ok so the Council guys know that Abaddon is conspiring with someone (they dont know he conspired with Azrael) to break just enough seals to have Hell's leader to gather to declare battle rights so they can ambush them (but not all of them, so the horsemen arent called, hence why Abaddon keeps the seventh seal intact and also to himself). The plan is to reforge the seals so they can claim the truce was never broken and that the demons were killed because they invaded the angels or something

Watched this to confirm issues with sound and video when you meet Ulthane. Playing through the games before I open Darksiders 3 and it skips all over the place I didn't know what has happening. Hope they fix it.
