Apocalyptic difficulty is unlocked only after you beat the game once. I also got all upgrades and creature cores before recording the bosses. The final difficulty doesn't change the game drastically, but all enemies have like 10x health and it takes forever to kill major bosses, unless you maximize your attack power.
I played as Strife exclusively, without using War. He has a good arsenal of different bullets and abilities, but most of them are kinda useless. Normal shots, Static shots, Shadow clones and Anarchy Form is all I needed. Anything else I used was just for a little variety.
The game has an insane amount of bugs and glitches, some of which are extremely annoying. I never used Gravity shots because they ALWAYS glitch Strife and make him unable to do double jump and executions. Beam shots break World Ender (huge laser) ability. Some enemies (and sometimes even bosses) don't respawn after a retry. Another thing I'd like to mention, is how I sometimes get stuck on visibly nothing while doing a dodge. I could continue for a while, but you get the point.
Despite all that, I still like this game much more than Darksiders 3. Though I wasn't very enthusiastic about recording the bosses, especially since I did a long break to play the new Shovel Knight campaign. Either way, I hope the next Darksiders game will feature Strife again, and will be closer to Darksiders 2.
