Darkstalkers, known in Japan as Vampire (ヴァンパイア), is a fighting game series and media franchise created by Capcom.
The first game, Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, was released in arcades in 1994. The series is set in a pastiche gothic horror universe with characters based on monsters from international folklore, and features a stylized 2D graphic style. Darkstalkers introduced gameplay concepts used in later Capcom fighting games, including the Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel vs. Capcom series.
Besides video games, the Darkstalkers media franchise also includes an anime miniseries, an American cartoon TV series, a Canadian comic book series, and many books of various kinds and other media released only in Japan. Some individual characters, such as Morrigan and Felicia, appeared in later Capcom games, as well as in a few crossover games released by other companies.

You know. The more I look at those sprites the more I realize why there probably won't be any new Darkstalkers game. A 3D sequel will never have so much soul and passion put into the animations and reactions the characters convey when hitting or being hit. Unless that is, they will make the game very cel-shaded, look like a manga that came to life and translate the artstyle and everything the older games had perfectly. Edit: Not to mention making the engine physics do all the plastic-esque stuff the older games had with the sprite animations.

2D fighters should only have 2D graphics otherwise it makes no sense. MvC series used to be the only fighter I enjoyed and once 3 came out the graphics ruined it for me enough that I returned it to the store the next day

It's said that Demitri Maximoff is one of the greatest vampire characters in video game history. And I would also like to say that if Darkstalkers were to be made into an EPIC live-action miniseries, then I say that Demitri and Morrigan would be antagonistic to one another in the beginning, then an attraction would develop between them.

It’s not a filter, I upscaled the image during editing, so you can not play the game with that screen

Many old arcade games, such as DARKSTALKERS, always give me some inspirations for drawing my own comic fan arts - mostly the furry comic arts 😺🐰🦊. In fact, i get the inspirations mostly from the Commodore 64 and Amiga games 😺👍🕹️.
