Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky has been busy over the last few years producing movies and TV series. If that wasn't enough, he's also co-written a novel mirroring the adventures of his youth. Michelle Miller caught up with Aronofsky.

I know Americans don't like being criticised but for me personally, Brendan proved himself long time ago as a serious actor in the movie "The Quiet American" alongside Michael Cane- the movie sheds light on America's influence in the world and the birth of the CIA!

The Quiet American, the novel, I think came out in the late 1950s. It was an important document that helped the public discuss the government's Cold War foreign policy.

Sir Ian McKellan complimented Brendan Frazier’s acting, watching his face for his “thought process” as Boone. I see Fraser as a “reactor”. I am a singer who studied acting first. Sir Ian is so right. Director Aronovsky caught some magic.

I think that he makes it crystal clear where he's from in his films and I love that. unlike most people I have watched Requiem for a Dream and Pi a bunch of times because I was fascinated by the setting, music, story, the book, the lack of budget, and the filmmaking techniques. The author of requiem for a dream was also from New York, he actually makes an appearance at the end of requiem for a dream but most people have no idea because it's such an intense scene that it's pretty much the last thing people are gonna notice if you just watch it once. Love Aaronofsky, I am a bit obsessed with him because he's one of the directors that really shaped my fundamental understanding of film

its beyond words what aronofsky has created & inspired me.. idk if I Would dig so much into the depts of reality without Pi & the fountain. its a shame that the Budget for it got cut in half.. i just can imagine how much the dying Star Scene Would be even More mindblowing.. the amount of metaphors you get to discover while watching mother, is intense. without any attempt of trying to be edgy, im deeply thankful for your work Mr. aronofsky. im definetly gonna make a dope track about you! god Bless you.

The premise of Darren's book sounds very similar to the episode in Powerpuff Girls where chalk drawings come to life.

I laughed when she said his movie made her uncomfortable. Lol you know who you're talking to? I saw Requiem at 14; one of the most powerful and disturbing movies every. Brilliant but not something conducive to a rewatch. I've seen most of his films since. The Fountain should have gotten more acclaim because he moved in positive direction (trying to make something more Zen because his other work is so heavy emotionally). Black Swan is his masterpiece imo. So far he's been a master of conveying horror. I do think he could lean into that more. Would love to see more thriller from him but within the context of drama. He and the British director Steve McQueen might work well together. McQueen is so good with character, story, and nuance. Aronofsky is brilliant at understanding feel and pushing emotional buttons. If I ran a studio I'd commission both with the challenge of 'one upping' the movie Se7en. Maybe we haven't seen his best yet. Directors like Hitchcock didn't make their best til years in. I'll have to check out the new one.
