I remember waking up early in the morning before school as a kid in the 90's to watch the Sportsdesk highlights with Dutch. Every single morning I would watch. Didn't care if it was Hockey, baseball, or what, he captivated me with the highlights with his epic calls and hilarious one-liners. Thanks for the memories and getting me to love sports, Dutchy.

Tim Horton’s should bring back the Dutchie permanently and donate a portion of sales to cancer research/prostate cancer research. The Man, The Myth, The Legend. The Pride of Porcupine Plain, Darren Dutchyshen. Rest in Peace

As a kid in Saskatchewan watching sports with Dutchy and Jennifer Hedger was the only way I would watch highlights and interviews. What a great pair, great representative of our province and great man.

Goodbye to a master. Western Canada born and bred powerhouse. An absolute must watch and listen every night to wrap the days' highlights. Tonight, Canadians everywhere salute TSN's 'showstopper'. A fan from the beginning, Jimmy Cauchon and horserace lovers everywhere, say thank you. r.i.p. Dutch.

There are certain onscreen personalities that you could see they loved their job. It was never a job for them. I pray for his family and friends, even the people that met him throughout his life. He will remain in our hearts for a long time. My absolute favourite promo? Of course it is "Rodsky & Dutch"! I get a good laugh & now a tear coming to my eye.

When I was a kid in Nova Scotia in the early 80s, I only had access to tv stations that were accessible via antenna. CBC Halifax, CTV Halifax, and because I was somewhat close to New Brunswick, we could sometimes get a channel from there (usually with snow). THEN, my father brought home a device that allowed us to get maybe six extra channels. It was via antenna because some guy set up a company with satellite dishes that pulled in channels from far away and he rebroadcasted them locally. It gave us a couple of the main US networks from the upper east USA, one from Hamilton (CHCH - Jim Hughson did regional Leafs games then!), and some from western Canada. One was ITV (Edmonton), which had The Dutch doing sports. He was pretty young but he definitely belonged. He was great then and especially great on TSN! RIP The Dutch!
