For me it dependes in which perioid of malgus's life they would battle: Untill after the sacking of Coruscant I have to agree with you that Vader would win simply because he was way more intelligent than Malgus But after the sacking of Coruscant in final perioid of his life Malgus became a lot more cunning, for example he alone orchestrated a plan which fooled both the Sith Empire and Old Republic and let hin become an Emperor it took the most powerful jedi and Sith in the Galaxy to overthrow him. So i think in the last perioid of his life Malgus would defeat Vader. I am not including the perioid when Malgus got implanted with cybernetics by Empress Acina because we don't yet know his full potencial at that time

Vader. He’s more powerful in the force and his fighting still was relentless. He toyed with his opponents and when he saw an opportunity he took it viciously. Malgus was rough tough and nasty. But Vader would use that against him.

Vader trained with specially made robots in light saber combat, five or six at a time, and was described as one of the best ever with a saber. I think he and Malgus are close, though Vader gets the win in thus one.

This is a very interesting comparison because they are kind of alike and Vader studied Malgus and sort of learned from him and the fact that Sidious/Palpatine wanted an apprentice like Malgus. This all kind of ties together, which is neat.

As duelists, I say Malgus and Vader are evenly matched. Both employ dynamic fighting styles and have experience against the best swordsmen in their respective eras. In regards to Force powers, Malgus does have an advantage because of Force lightning, but Vader isn’t completely defenseless against it

In my case Darth Vader is the pinnacle of a Sith Juggernaut, he has faced faster foes, he has taken more beatings, and B O I he is still STRONG even in his damaged state and despite his cybernetics he is still able to beat almost anyone who comes across him.

Vader for me. Partly because a video about this match-up was already made some years ago with Vader being the more likely winner. That and I believe Vader would in fact win due to being a bit more tactical and less impulsive, unlike his younger and more fleshy self. I can see Vader winning if Malgus doesn't change his tactics. Vader is more machine than man. If Malgus finds himself in a continuous Djem So offensive, Vader could easily just pick that apart and wait out Malgus's offensive like Obi-Wan once did to him on Mustafar.

Malgus indirectly destroyed a massive stone pillar when he attacked the Jedi Temple. As shown is SWtoR, Malgus can also go INVISIBLE and summon CLONES OF HIMSELF. The victor is obvious. Malgus wins against 50 Vaders at the same time.

Great video! This was more exciting than the release of episode 9 in my opinion. I do believe that Darth Vader would win too but one thing that gives Darth Malgus The Edge every time is his commitment to the dark side. Darth Malgus did something that Darth Vader could never do, and that's sever the ties with the woman that he loved. If Darth Vader could do that I think it would be more of a landslide victory verses of Victory by inches.

I'm surprised neither of you mentioned the fact that Darth Malgus needs a respirator. Also that Darth Vader did have a connection to the Light Side that is how he was able to be redeemed in the end.

I personally believe that Malgus would win due to force maelstrom, as its creator. The mix of a defensive shield, telekinesis and force lightning is a combination I believe Vader couldn't do much about, I'm open to suggestions on how vader could beat it though

Great analysis overall, I especially want to thank you for the point on Vader's supposed weakness to force lightning because I've been saying that for a long time: The only occasion where it has severely damaged him is from Darth Sidious, who is said to be the greatest ever master of force lightning, and that was when Vader was wounded and disarmed. Saying he's weak to force lightning is like saying a boxer is weak to fists because Mohammed Ali knocked him out when he had a bad day.

Look at Vader in Scene 38 Reimagined! That is a decent modern reimagining of Vader's power.

Only way I see Malgus winning is if he hits Vader with some solid lightning, if not Vader stomps. Good match though.

In Darth Vaders state, I think Darth Malgus is more powerful especially when he becomes one with The Force and he can use Force Lightning and Force Maelstrom.

But Malgus far more brute force with his style and force powers. The fight could go either way. Can we get a Malgus VS Maul vid?

Malgus has lightning, this makes the whole difference, he also has faster moves, Vader at best can do a kamikaze attack, Malgus cybernetics didn't weaken him, however Vader is fully nerfed, or else he would have overthrown the Emperor as soon as he had the political security to do it (like finding an opportunity to frame a Jedi for the murder)

Sorry, but post Ep III Vader doesn’t lose. To anyone. Except his own son, whom he had no intention of killing anyway. His own hatred for himself made him exponentially strong, despite any limitations from his suit or missing limbs.

I think you guys did a great job. Something a lot of people forget talking about these older Jedi/sith (old republic) is that they lived dueling with others all the time. Darth Traya commented on how Jedi/sith of the modern era (which was shortly after revan’s sith empire fell) paled in comparison to fighters of the jedi civil war. And they were far better duelists than clone wars Jedi (who practiced mostly form 1 and 3). So, my rant basically is that while Vader is a master of multiple forms and facing many Jedi masters. I believe that Jedi masters of his era may not be as good of duelists of Malgus’ time because they lived and breathed Makashi-based forms and fighting. I think Vader still may have one and would lean with what you said on 6/10 not showing how close they are. But again, old republic fighters were likely the best duelists to ever grace Star Wars universe, especially during the Jedi civil war/Mandalorian Wars since many of the duelists died during those engagements

I feel Darth Malgus would lose to Anakin Skywalker from ROTS so I'd give it to Darth Vader but I've given my own take on Malgus vs Skywalker Physicality = Anakin, Malgus is about 60 by the sacking of the Jedi temple and has a respirator which Anakin can easily exploit, they have comparable strength but Anakin is faster, they both have very high pain thresh holds as well so that is moot. Use of the force = Equals, Anakin has more raw power yes and their variety with their power is comparable. Malgus is a very well rounded force user, male storm, push, pull, choke, lightning, saber throw, cheating death and I wouldn't put it past him that he can use basic mind tricks and all that, Anakin has comparable variety in his powers having all of that minus male storm and lightning, but he makes up for it with force scream, being able to override the will of the force itself, he could subdue both entities of the light AND dark sides of the force and he's able to move really heavy objects with ease(using this to also rag doll certain individuals namely Assaj Ventress and Barris Offee)like the separatist dreadnought in the comics he was able to redirect with no issue so they're equals in my eyes. Duelling skills = Anakin, I feel that his showings are more impressive than Malgus as a pure lightsaber duelist as he bested THE master of makashi for his time in Count Dooku, his mentors hold him as only below Yoda and Mace Windu, he was duelling said makashi master as a fucking padawan and held out for longer than his master, bested the infamous Assaj Ventress as a bloody padawan although she was talented with killing Jedi masters and held her own against Mace bloody Windu and he was credited as being a natural warrior. Malgus isn't particularly bad but I feel his kills come from outlasting his adversaries or having them piss him off just before he engaged them increasing his strength, Satele and Cao Sen Darach = Vindican and Darach dying(the former gave Malgus a power boost as he wanted vengeance for his master), Satele Shan = Malgus won the fight, but he didn't kill her and he only won the duel when he used his force abilities on her when she was off guard and his most famous kill Ven Sallow = he did kill the Jedi, but moments prior he did witness his wife get harmed which fuelled his passion to kill the Jedi that did the deed and nearly killed both of them as Sallow almost stabbed him near the end of their duel so Malgus's victories in said duels is considerable, but for the reasons I have given his skills as a duelist have been largely over-exaggerated I feel. Weaponry = Anakin, though this doesn't really matter all too much tbh but the extra blades on Malgus's lightsaber are cool looking but have no real purpose in battle, Anakin's weapon of choice is standard but because he has given it a different option for length of the blade, it could be helpful in pushing Malgus back. The verdict: Let's say this is more comparable to Malgus's duel with Sallow, but with Anakin in place of Sallow, I feel it would start with Malgus on the attack but Anakin would be able to hold off his assault and when Malgus attempts to kick Anakin in the face, Anakin grabs his foot with his right hand pushing him back into a pillar with the force, Malgus would be staggered momentarily as the 2 engage in a blade lock with Anakin on the offensive, Malgus would try taunting Anakin however this effort would backfire as Anakin broke off the lock and sent him flying backwards into a whole group of Sith with him in the temple and he was met with a huge pillar coming his way. This kills his whole group but not him as he evaded the pillar and immediately got back up to engage Skywalker, but the duel would swiftly end while they are charging one another as Malgus would have his blade above his head, but Anakin would be running low with his blue blade at his side while sliding underneath Malgus and splitting him in half, vertically. And thus, I declare Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one of the force the victor.

Malgus would win by a mile, he lived in a time where he was constantly fighting powerful jedi.

As far as I know, Sith lore shows Sith such as Malgus being proficient in forms 1, 3, 5 and 7 so it wouldn't surprise me to see him having a similar understanding of those forms and using them in combat over just purely form 5. Him defeating Darach is a good example of form 1 and his fight against Ven Zallow shows some form 7

Stopped watching when they said vader can beat malgus. This is the most uneven fight just do to the difference in eras. Vader was the malgus of his time because his only other competition was his master. Malgus was rediculusly more seasoned in battle and fought jedi that were way more skilled than the ones vader fought. i truly wish people would stop using the tunnel vision crutch as their grand reason for why he loses. Malgus stomps vader in everyway. I like vader as much as the next guy. But im not playing favoritism just because hes darth vader.

I'd like to see Yoda vs Sidious. I know it seems redundant since we've already seen it in ROTS but I honestly feel like that fight ended out of circumstance/positioning rather than one of them being definitively superior to the other. I think it would be really interesting to discuss/debate who you think would end up winning had their fight been able to continue/begin and stay on even ground.

Vader prosthetics give him a physical advantage as well. Especially if he can crush a lightsaber hilt , so malgus also has to worry about simply being grabbed by vader. He could easily crush bone and tear flesh like tissue paper.

I think Malgus is able to hang with saber and then puts him down with his lightning maelstrom or whatever that power is called. I think malgus has the experience fighting saber wielding force users. I also feel people forget malgus evolved past where he was on the fight at alderon, there's a reason we dont see him getting caught by anyone else's force powers after that.
