Only daru Jones could go to New York with 12 inch cymbals and still have a career.

I've seen a few vids of Daru playing these cymbals but this video showcasing the cymbal set is awesome! Super clever idea to be able to swap out all the cymbals to make new hi-hat combo's, flipping brilliant & they sound super dope. Those hi-hats really are some analog lo-fi 8 bit sound but with the master touch of sound from Paiste since everything they touch they make sound better! I'd love to have to set to experiment & whatnot. 💯🙌👌

I always thought this line was really hip, but when D started switching up the hats configuration I was blown away.

Am I crazy or did he not even hit the crash? He talks about it, picks it up, and then swaps out the hi hats?!

Trying to figure out what 18" ride would work well with this, because they're damn near perfect for both ska-punk on a regular kit, and rockabillyon my cocktail kit, once the ride gets moved to the top hat position... Maybe the 2002 Psychoctopus? Rude 18 Crash Ride? Thoughts?

Both are great bright-sounding cymbals. For a couple more options, check these out as well! memphisdrumshop.com/paiste-18-2002-big-beat-cymbal-1068518-1030919k memphisdrumshop.com/paiste-18-fomula-602-heavy-crash-cymbal-1041818-1052020k

@@memphisdrumshop Those 602's sound amazing, but I really don't want to have to mortgage my house for a cymbal. Haha! I was going for a sorta punk-ish trashy sound with the crashes, the ability to play a great bell on the hats (a reggae/ska standard), and a small ride that will contrast big deep drum sounds. I'm honestly afraid that the Big Beat and/or the 602 will sound too "good", if you know what I mean. Thats why I was leaning toward the Giga Bell (plus its two different bells to work with, which is fun). I was also, honestly, looking at the PST5 18 Crash/Ride. I know its not a great cymbal, but from what I hear it has a level of (for lack of a better word) "shittiness" that might actually sound match better with the DJ45's in a live setting. But I can't find a vid of the PST5 thats not mic'd up to death, so its hard to get an idea of what it actually sounds like, and my closest shop would never have it outside a box set.

It’s not meant to be used like a normal ride just to have a different sound, if you hear videos with the bass players or with music then you can hear how good they can be used
