The narrative that Coach Ham is unfairly fired is one of the most ridiculous things in sports this year. Rotations made no sense, benching players after they hit a hot streak made no sense, refusing to call timeouts made no sense, offense with no apparent game plan made no sense. I can keep going. Yes, he isn’t the only one to blame but this narrative is absurd. No way they watched Lakers games.

There's also the fact that Darvin Ham is the most replaceable of the people who failed this season. You're not getting better players than AD and LeBron in a short amount of time. And replacing Pelinka would cause immediate dysfunction.

Darvin Ham did not get fired because they lost to the Nuggets in the playoffs for the second time in a row. Although losing 12 out of 13 times to the Nuggets is also very glaring too as they have never beaten any time 11 straight time in their history. Ham was already in the hot seat after they won the In Season Tournament. If anybody remember, the Lakers had many losing streaks, never won more than 5 games in a row, went from the 4th seed to the 13th seed, and lost many easy games they should have won. I remember there was one game they had it was against the Memphis Grizzilies where Marcus Smart made 8 3 pointers. They never guarded him they were just letting him shoot because Darvin Ham said they should leave a guy that is not so great at the 3 point line. Looks like that backfire quickly. They lost to a team that was missing nearly their whole starters. Ham was already in the hot seat before the playoffs started.

What I’m about to say about Darvin Ham being fired is most liked comment worthy, straight facts! Those who want to say it’s not his fault the lakers lost and that the blame should be on the players did not watch any regular season/playoffs games in the last 2 years. This man did not know what he was doing whether it was his adjustments which were non-existent or the worst of it is all, the lines ups he would run, how much of a low IQ could you have in basketball to think running 3 guards lineups would work in todays nba? Those who want to say that they made it to the western conference finals last season (as if that means anything for the lakers organization because they only look for rings and rings only) so what if they did? They got swept, Mike Malone (Nuggets head coach) out coached him, how do you not win 1 game? But alright first season you made it to the WCF firing you after 1 season wouldn’t make sense, so on to year 2 Lebron and AD play 70+ games and we’re in the play-in, alarming but alright again most fans wanted the Denver matchup because our guys would be fresh and would have the most rest between games in the first round, we proceed to have the lead 75% of the games and only win once? Clearly a coaching issue here how do you lose every game you lead going into half time? Come 2nd half and Mike Malone just knows how to beat you 2nd year in a row you get out coached, I have a question for you Darvin ham what were you doing in the off season?? How do you allow this to repeat it self twice? Anyways it happened lakers lost, now with it happening twice and the nuggets aren’t going any where since their core is so young, why would we bring a guy that’s being out matched for a 3rd year? This is LA either you get results or you get fired, Lebron ain’t got much time left if he was young maybe we’d have another conversation

Of course he was, look at the draft pick choices since 2020, they have passed on so many good players to draft guys who have made absolutely no impact. They have made no impact free agent signings all of their free agent guys are like Dinwiddie taurine prince cam redish ext... guys who can barley get on the court for other teams. Rob Pelinka and Jeanie buss are to busy trying to life the Hollywood life they forgot they are running a basketball team. Sure Darvin Ham had some faults but the bottom line is in a league filled with so much talent the lakers have managed to aquire almost none of that. They literally gave Jaden McDaniels to the wolves for almost nothing.

Players control the game- until they don't. Coaching is important because there are 3 or 4 moments in every game ever played where the coach has to coach, usually in the last 2mins of the 1st half and the last 4mins of the 4th qtr. And the Lakers have not had that in a long time.

A lot of the stuff on the court was a result of the coach though. You saw the bench give you nothing for the first two games straight but he refused to give minutes to Reddish who he was perfectly fine benching Austin to get him playing time or even Max who was the teams best 3 and D defender this year especially later in the season who for some reason Ham refuses to play. Also we saw him refuse to call timeouts when it was clear his team was tired and the nuggets were going on a run. I’m not saying this changes the series but Ham had no idea what he was doing honestly and it’s clear he’s a stubborn guy.

Coaching team and the coach is not just 25%. Coach is more than 80%. The difference between a player hitting a shot and missing ,most times had to do with how confident , motivated and inspired by a coach. When morale is down in the locker room , everything is down. 75% of the pizza is Rob Pelinka, Jeannie needs to get rid of him #hirebobmyers. This is probably one of the few people outside of insiders, beat writers, and fans that actually recognize that Ham wasn't good. He regressed by a lot this year. Yes players had a piece of the blame but Ham never recognized that he himself needed to work to improve as well. Not once did he say "I need to be better", his players said it when they had a bad game. Pelinka should've made it a point to have a former head coach as an assistant to guide and mentor Ham. Common thread in all this is Rob Pelinka #hirebobmyers

Why doesn't more people in hoops media call LeBron exactly what he is? A coach killer. Think about it. He's had 9 head coaches, and the ONLY one he didn't get fired was Spoelstra because Pat Riley was not about to let LeBron run the team. LeBron has got 8 of his 9 head coaches. Maybe, HE is the problem.
