Don’t worry, they included a couple of totally unbelievable lesbians. So it’s all good on the unrealistic, revised portrayal of history front. Here’s hoping for a gender neutral Fuhrer in the next season 🤞

@@yoelv.o.krisstiawan5838 it's based on more than the one book. And most of the show is dedicated to the submarine and the men there - in fact the only reason we see what's happening in La Rochelle is because of the impact left by the men who boarded the submarine.

@@agenttheater5 Das Boot is barely about the book. The movie, isn't and shouldn't be looked at as just some War-Movie "based on real events". It's a cinematic masterpiece that accomplished what few movies can /real immersion/. To take a movie that's so accomplished and about a singular experience: War In the Atlantic and rebrand it as something else. Is 1. Disrespectful 2. A gross exploitation

Truth but the uboot parts especially were good. I like that it is similar but new material and conflicts/power struggles. It really is worth it to watch the uboot parts; there is a lot of it! Really good characters on uboot. The original cant be remade or surpassed but this is a nice addition.

It's not a remake, it's an extremely poorly written spy drama that has no connection to either the books or previous film/tv series. It literally only uses the Das Boot name to increase it's own publicity, they literally put the U-Boat scenes in as an afterthought it's so unbelievably crap.

This show will also broadcast in the US too soon and the Americans don't speak french...You sound like one of those french nationalists that get disappointed that the whole world treats the English language as a universal language and not the French one...

Well, with all that being said (in these comments), I think the implement of the main female character was amazing! A very fitting way to make it somewhat historically accurate, by taking a Kriegsmarine secretary. But on the other hand, after having seen both seasons - the only TERRIBLE character was that Spanish resistance woman (and of course she had to be lesbian as well)...

The trailer is deceptive. You really see uboot 70% of time. I don't know why they went this direction at all showing these pieces. Perhaps to attract non uboot potentials(?).

The original Bas Boot was epic. Masterpiece of film making. The best submarine movie ever made. I just finished watching Season 1 of this series and found it very entertaining. I would have liked to see a bit more focus on the u-boats at sea, but then wouldn’t that be simply trying to “remake” Das Boot, & nothing could compare to that movie. This show is not attempting to do that. It’s focus is more broad, including facets of the war at sea, along with one base of the subs at La Rochelle. It’s a tv series & so this focus makes more sense. The storylines are broader in focus & by including the land stories this is an appeal to a broader audience base, which tv needs in order to survive. Comparing it to the movie is unfair, because it isn’t the movie, nor does it claim to be in-spite of the title. Instead it’s a sequel to the movie, with a broader perspective. After watching season 1 I look forward to Season 2 when it’s available on DVD. I hope they make the subtitling a wee bit larger for Season 2 it was a tad hard to read at times, good thing for the converter. I prefer no dubbing just the subtitling I like to have the actors speak the language appropriate to the character.

On your tv you can switch from your menu from letter box to point and scan, screen fill or zoom fill. I dont need subtitles except french at times. Ugh im watching it now and it is on monroe character. Ugh this too shall pass. Lol

Season 2 was excellent. Really enjoying this series. Look forward to Season 3. Just love the unpredictability of this series. Look forward to see how the storylines of the central characters continues to evolve and what new plot twists will be added.

For anyone who hasn’t seen this yet and does not care for revised, censored, offence culture versions of history, then simply watch the parts of this show that take place on the Uboat. Skip all of the parts that take place on land once the Uboat leaves port. They are completely unnecessary and have little to no bearing on what takes place on the actual Uboat itself. Leave out what happens on shore and you have a very entertaining show about Kriegsmarine.

I agree. I almost stopped watching this altogether because I wasn't interested much on the French resistance, but the story and scenes about the U-boat kept me hooked and I actually finished the 1st season.

It really is. You'll see. Deaths, injuries, battles and torpedoes launched and all kinds of power struggles and challenges on board..is very good. Is not as good as original but is still damn good.

They play the oeiginal uboot theme throughout. It is a good show. You really.can fast forward anything on land however ot does give some crew background and also some aspects govern what orders are given to uboot and why

This is a fantastic series, one of the best I’ve seen with the sopranos and game of thrones. It has so many more facets than the movie, I wouldn’t want a series just set on a uboat - the espionage thriller and other storylines make it so much more, and the fact they’ve done it in the original languages makes it even better. They’ve announced a series 4 I think so glad to see some people recognise great television👌 Appreciate it for what it is, don’t expect a simple remake of the movie

@@Uio3eva the "movie" you're talking about is actually a condensed version of the original das boot series. It didn't start as a movie but a short series something along the lines of Band of brothers. They had to cut most of the facets in order to make it into a movie, that doesn't mean they weren't there.

I will watch it, saw just a minute, the first impression: the U-boot and the bomber is just too... CGI. Just as 'Jurassic Park' was great, so was the oringinal Das Boot (it seemed to me to be bad at first "cuz that time they had really bad camera tricks only", but then as it progressed, I was unable to stop watching :D), because they had real, existing ship models, thus the shading and movements could not be too unrealistic - it already did obey the laws of physics - which CGI doesn't do by default... Now, I will give it a chance, just as I did to U-Boot s1. Really hope it will actually be nearly as good at least as season 1...

It really is good..the trailer doesnt show enough of the uboot..really the uboot parts are great..original is best but this is entertaining. Lot of action on board, power struggles, calamity, scares, injury, death, torpedoes-- captain will grow on you and some of the crew also.

because a crew member on the u-boat was willing to give the resistance vital information in exchange for fake passport so that he, his French-jewish girlfriend and their baby daughter could get out of France and as far way from the German navy, German army, and Vichy government as possible but some idiot caused a fire in the radio room so he had to go instead otherwise they'd start asking 'why don't you want to go' which would only lead to the three of them being sent to the camps so he asked his sister to take it to them instead and then they wouldn't leave her alone. Turns out though that the only reason they picked him was because another member of the crew had squealed about a guy forging passports though so that he'd be able to go without facing jail time for cheating at cards and getting into fights. Believe me, it all links back to the submarine. But don't worry, we spend most of our time with the crew in the u-boat both above and below surface. I'll admit, it's not as good as the original film but it's as close as any submarine movie or tv series is ever going to get, no submarine story will ever reach the same level.

I hated the mutiny on the U-Boat which seems just made for pure drama, you don't like the orders command gave you, we will just do as we please. I also didn't like the French plot line especially the lesbian relationship with the resistance fighter and German-French woman.

I am watching this and will finish it. But major breaks with reality as it proceeds, I highly doubt that the U-Boats would run on the surface during the day to re-charge batteries. This would be done at night.

@@thomasneal9291 The Fly (1986). Oceans 11 (2001), True Grit (2010), Scarface (1983), The Thing (1982), Wizard of Oz (1939) are as good as or better than the original Films. Then there's the repeatedly Filmed stuff like Batman, Robin Hood, King Arthur, & Sherlock Holmes which gets an update and strives to be better than earlier ones. Chances are you can think of a few yourself.

The series is really good from the perspective of the U-Boat/crew, however, why they decided to include half the series as a French resistance plot that doesn't really have anything to do with the U-boat side is beyond me. It's almost 2 completely separate series merged together - whenever the resistance parts came up I would find myself wanting to skip nearly every second (which you technically could as they have almost nothing to do with each other as far as I can tell from season 1) - it's a shame they didn't just commit to the U-boat story/crew; and for some reason, instead, decided to force dull lesbian resistance fighter's in your face that you couldn't care less about

The only issue I have with this series is that it’s filled with too much mutiny. It goes over the top! The original Das Boot (and fair enough to make something different. This series should not be compared to the original masterpiece). However, it gets to a good bit and then suddenly somebody’s not who they seem. It happens almost every time, particularly series 1 and 2. I hope series 3 and 4 get a bit better. But I would watch it, it is a good series.

First time I notice there's a series inspired by Das Boot. I have to say based on my gut feeling and what this trailer shows that it looks like a one sided and very dull show.

Dont let the trailer deceive. I wasnt fan of some of the resistance side plot, but most show is on board.. The uboot stuff could never compare to original but it is compelling and great characters

@@Jeweliedear I really want to watch Season 2 when it becomes available in the US. I would hope that another season could clean up the French Resistance plot pretty well, and the idea of an American espionage subplot is literally never in WWII media, at least not for decades. For me the show is just alright but it gets major points for trying something different.

@@iantakaoka8664 if you can get the dvd off amazon and all region player i recommend it highly. Ive watched it a dozen times already. Generation war/Unsere Mütter Unsere Väter, 1944, names engraved in marble, tangerine(an estonian in georgian war times)are also compelling war movies🙏 Into Darkness(polish jews who survived in sewers) also amazing Movie. Most those require all Region player. Babylon Berlin deserves a pre ww2 mention for capturing some of mindsets from different backgrounds.

Nein-- quatsch. Its actually pretty good..the residence parts are not my favorite but thr gestapo gentleman is guy from GOT Jaquen Hgar..so he was.excellent, and his translated is good. French characters also..is only 1 resistence fighter who sucks in my opinion. Moat takes place on uboot..REALLY is entertaining and suspenseful on board quite often.
