Australia has reciprocal agreements with certain countries. Their country’s licenses are valid here and ours are valid there. It’s ridiculous. If you want to drive in a foreign country, you should at least have to sit a test. Not "give way to the vehicle on your right." The Rule is give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout. They will usually be on your right but they could be straight ahead or even on your left. (Also, no such thing as "right of way" in Australia's Road Rules)

It is not attempted Murder as defined by the law. It would be attempted manslaughter. Murder, as defined by Australian Law, is the deliberate premeditated killing of a particular person. Any call to introduce murder charges with regards to road incidents deaths will always fail in Australia. Manslaughter charges should be introduced and alcohol poisoning, sorry consumption, be removed as an excuse. Alcohol does not remove one's ability to tell right from wrong, just one's ability to react to things like the road moving to the left.

After some reading and looking through various legal sites it seems there is provision for the prosecution of this dangerous drivers even when there was no accident. It is called "Careless Driving" Section 83 Road Use Act and is regardless of whether you think you were careful or not. Interestingly in QLD you can drive with an expired, but not suspended, license for almost 5 years.

Well that's incorrect, even a 1st year apprentice may know safety better than a 20yr veteran. Whilst experience is an excellent learning tool, the problem is you need to learn from it! I have asked some drivers how long have they driven for? And they inform me since 12 in some 3rd world country. This doesn't make them an excellent driver here.

I tend to cut cement trucks some slack. They have a delivery that could turn to concrete in the truck if they don't get it delivered on time. If you're keeping an eye on the road it doesn't cost anything to let one go ahead if they're close to an intersection.

So, you didn't notice that the cam car sped up to prevent the truck from getting across & then slowed down once the truck came in behind the car? Cam car was doing 77km/h at the start of the clip - the bit where Russ can be heard acknowledging that the truck is trying to get across and we can see the truck is already moving faster than the camera car. Russ then speeds up to a maximum displayed 93km/h, and drops off to 86km/h when the truck comes in behind. So, we've learned a few things here today - Russ would rather frighten the crap out of his wife than to act like an adult and simply allow another vehicle that was already travelling faster than him to merge safely in front. And that you and Russ should go hand your licenses in.

I have one about 1/2 mile from my house - in the US. We have the same issue, as expected. During the morning commute, one route has "control," and the evening commute the opposite route has "control." Town of 3,400 that sees 20k-25k cars travel through it daily. It replaced a 4-way traffic-light-controlled intersection with protected lefts for all, under the false promise that "traffic will never stop, and you'll never have to wait." Works fantastically when traffic is light, I will admit that, but once the commuters roll through all bets are off. Sometimes even 50+ bikers will maintain control of the entire roundabout, in the middle of commuting summer beach traffic, by blocking all directions so the poor guys don't get separated en route to the highway 0.9 miles away. They might get lost out in the boonies without ever experiencing the joys of terrorizing traffic at 100+ mph! If they miss the crucial on-ramp, it's all woods beyond that...

The only Toyota SUV I know of is the RAV4, and I didn’t see one in this video. That would be a Landcruiser wagon…a 4WD or 4x4.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but if you are saying to break the onlookers observation by moving about within your lane, I see how this could help. As direct line of sight is how dots (motorbikes) are generally not seen. So good idea. I didn't like the 'swerving slightly in their lane' words though, I couldn't see such a thing written in any safety books.
