One of the most important things to me, is a good dashcam to ensure I have an insurance that my car is watched over. I've have had some of my past cars been hit in car parks, as well as rear ended. So to me, a dashcam is a must from my previous experiences (my insurance wanted to charge me an excess until I showed them the video).
This is my first Thinkware. I've always stuck with Blackvue, but I was keen to try something different this time around. It seems very similar to Blackvue, though, I do like the settings and customisations more in the Blackvue (especially the voice commands/talking - This Thinkware seems a bit annoying with it's voice status changes).
I have a custom on/off switch in all my cars. I don't need recordings while in my garage at home. I have security cameras. So I'd like to make sure my battery isn't being used while at home. I've shared the diagram of how I made the parked on/off switch. If you don't want the switch, ignore the diagram and wire straight from the dashcam wires straight to your fuse taps.
The most painful part of this install was the boot. Having the cables run from the roof lining, through to the rubber boot and up into the boot-lid was the most painful part of this whole install. Far out, I was getting frustrated with that. There isn't much room, but you can certainly make it happen. Do spend the extra time getting the wires behind/through, because the neatness makes it all worth it!
Please note, that I'm not a professional installer or auto-electrician. I'm just an at home, DIY guy. So there might be a better way to create this parking on/off switch, but you will want to speak to an auto-electrician.
