Create Your Own Containers (like Netbox) for EVE-NG with Docker-in-Docker

Some docker containers require a little extra work to get them up and running. The simple docker run or docker pull doesn't quite do the trick. Whenever you have a situation where you need to use docker build or docker-compose, here is how you can leverage the D-in-D features of EVE-NG Pro to build your own container!

Such a great walk through. I especially like the quick tip to create bespoke images based on your eve-gui-server docker. I think that's what I'll do for learning docker & NGINX this month.

great walkthrough Knox! i am going through all your eve content and learning a lot. When you commit the image for the container does the mac address stick with the interface? I am wondering if there would be conflict when adding multiple versions of the same container.

Watch out for black November sale for eve. They give quite a big discount on licence.

Hi Knox, I'm unable to reach the ngnix server using firefox on port 8000, even though I can ping the server from my GUI-Server container. Running dc ps shows me that the ngnix and some other components keep restarting over and over, which could be why. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I have Installed EVE from ISO in my Exsi but after adding Router and click on start router doesnt start... Tried with switch etc but nothing works in Evng. Any solution?

Sounds like you need to look into enabling virtualization on the processor

@@DataKnox I am not sure since we dont enable Virtualisation in a EXSI when we install Evng in VM... should I insfall it as bare of Vm

Hey Knox, it was able to run netbox container once but after removing i m getting this below error, it seems like nginx keepe restarting......i m unable to access netbox gui.. xnginx:1.19-alpine "/docker-entrypoint.…" 2 minutes ago Restarting (1) 15 seconds ago netbox-docker-nginx-1

i noticed kernel log thrown by EVE NG as shown below eachtime i try to start NetBox docker, it stucks at nginx restarting all the time . "overlayfs: filesystem on 'var/lib/docker/check-overlayfs-support157663434upper not supported in upperdir"
