Thank you so much for doing this video I just finished Date Me Bryson Keller (like minutes ago) and the goodread review scared me very conflicted on how/what I should rate the book……..

I loved your comparisons! And THANK YOU so much for your take on inspiration vs improvement! I completely agree with you. There aren’t many original ideas out there, but it’s how you tell the story and create characters that defines each books uniqueness. It’s not fair to anyone to say someone improved on their idea, when it could simply be the style of one is more attractive to some people.

I also loved Kai’s voice =)! great synopsis, and I LOVE that you read the 1 star reviews and compared with the manga it supposedly plagiarized from. Such a coincidence that you brought up it’s kind of a funny story, I’m reading that next! I think we have similar reading tastes xD new subscriber here! So own voices I think more-so means you share some identity aspect with the main character. So the author of DMBK is gay as is Kai. but I could be wrong! Thank you for the insightful video!

I’m so sorry not to have responded before! I’d love to know what you think of It’s Kind Of A Funny Story, there’s also a movie version on Netflix! And I hadn’t considered that for Own Voices, but that does make sense. Thank you so much for giving me that perspective x

You’re welcome! I loved Kai and Bryson too, they seemed like a real couple who could communicate well and it drives me crazy when miscommunication is the point of conflict in a book so the way this was done made me so happy. They had real issues they worked through together.
