Hip Hop was extremely popular in the early 2000s as well. Commercialization of our music isn’t the same as cultural exchange, respect or LOVE for black people. Seeing people make the same assumptions we made 20yrs ago is painfully eye opening. NEVER let a woman fetishize you your skin color or your 🍆 without realizing she has no love for your people.

lol beside the off-spring of Black American military men in Korea, the majority of Korean/Black people who were born and raised in Korea are Nigerian/Korean. Koreans actually admire Nigerian work ethic as they are similar to Koreans in that way, just as Nigerians who immigrate to the states are among the highest income brackets.. because they apply themselves and it shows. . and like what was mentioned, if you speak Korean or at least put in effort to speak Korean, then Koreans are so much more comfortable and appreciate it 100 fold. It's not much a matter of where you're from but how culturally aware you are of Korea.. It shows you are genuine and respect Korean culture, not just out there to fk around. Positive vibes will be reciprocated with positive reactions. It's always the people who've never been to Korea who have the most negative things to say. I'm speaking in general. So many haters , who just parrot all these misconceptions. Of course there are bad apples in every country, but trust me , if you come with positive vibes and put in effort to assimilate in Korean culture, Koreans would show you love. 99% of the time if they seem distant is because they don't speak English or not confident in their English abilities.. and that's to any non-Korean who doesn't speak Korean who approaches them. If you ever want to come to Korea, pm me. I'm always down to provide hospitality and show you Korea to give you a better perspective.

As a South Korean, I feel bad for the Nigerian guy. Black people definitely considered 'cool' in South Korea, but I think it is only limited to Americans. Korean people love African American cultures such as Hiphop, Jazz, R&B etc but the reason is because Korean people admire American Culture and African American culture is also part of it. Afrobeats are kind a hot in S. Korea but Korean people has a stereotype that African countries are extremely poor and undeveloped. I'd say with the speed of Korean dating culture (having lived in Korea previously), considering that fact that Korea was devasted by a war just under 70 years ago, and has rebuilt their country so fast into a mega economy, it makes sense that they would apply that same speed to the dating experience. Whoa! "The speed" is not referring to sex. "The speed" is referring to establishing "boyfriend-girlfriend" which usually doesn't involve sex. South Koreans are conservative when it comes to sex. That part will take a very long time and courting before you get any action, especially from Korean girls. The foreign girls who are out there are different though. Usually they are out there for a short time and so they are looking to have someone to hang out with for their duration. This type of thing is normal when young people travel to a foreign country.

Everything plays a role, nationality, race, gender, looks, occupation, so on. On average, you are correct, but your comparison is not universal. Individuals do have the power to overcome stereotypes, nobody said it's easy, but it is far from impossible.
