I've seen a few videos of her, I think she's trying to hard to fit in a culture that is not hers. She's Vietnamese and Black, born in France partially raised in Africa (don't remember which part). Many Koreans that marry outside their race usually end up being ostracized and disowned by their families, so the children do not get to know that half, and it's sad and to me, not worth the trouble.

I see these validation as a form of inferiority. You don’t expect others to respect and want to be what you are not proud of! I heard from one commenter that she is French black Vietnamese, so I asked which country or tribe made her black. That’s already an inferior mindset. People should be proud of their African heritage be it anywhere in the world. Flaunt it till they love you for it. Look at how the world flock around hip hop culture with pride and look at what Nigerians have done globally with Afro music. That’s how you do it.

Yea you right man but I think world cruelty or should I say white cruelty to black people has resulted us hating ourselves and we want to throw ourselves to these people to feel accepted. But in case if her being in Korea, she's full flash and blood and needs to date and have and experience being loved but if the homogenous Koreans are prejudiced, its really a painful experience.

@@solomonblack6344agree with you but there are other real factors. Let's say you are black guy and you went to Korea which is a kind of a homogeneous country. What happens when all the girls you feel attracted to has a prejudice to black people and you are flash and blood being far away from you own home country or anywhere where people are heterogenous. So, it can be difficult for other people and I believed that will even exacerbate or aggravate you r validation or even your confidence.

As an asian I 100% agree she looks cute and gorgeous, like daamn. But I have a preference to asian. I hope she finds an asian/korean that will like her for who she is. Edit/Respond: Apparently her mother is half black and half vietnamese while her father is black(not half-korean). Explains why she looks a bit cute to me. But just a reminder that many women goes to South Korea to find a partner due to their preference. So why can't korean and other asians have their preference too? And maybe.. just maybe... she might be indeed a tall black foreigner, I mean... it's among her characteristics also as being asian too. I think she didn't find right person yet.

Since she already embraces the culture & language, you'd think Korean guys would be open to a relationship from there, but they'd rather reduce her to a tall black foreigner. Sad

@@isaiah3872ok I get why people get frustrated by this, but doesn’t this happen everywhere? Like literally before the K-pop boom, Asian men like me weren’t wanted/fetishized in the west because of our cultural differences and looks. Now things have changed and I feel like I’ve been given way more interest from western females. The west grew up with their ideal image of a partner, and the east has the exact same situation. It’s not that deep. If foreigners really want to appeal themselves to locals, then they need to exploit some kind of pop culture to make the locals like them. This is what happened with east Asians (Chinese martial arts, Japanese anime, Korean music, etc.) instead of trying to guilt trip locals into liking foreigners, why not just do what we did? It’s way more effective.

@@akujin8689 I think at the end of the day it has a lot to do with personal preferences. I grew up in Canada so there's lot of different ethnic group here. I personally had many girls from different ethnicity (who were mostly white locals) asking me to date them, but I still prefer east /south east asian looks even though I grew up in a western society and mostly consumed western media. Another reason why asian men were seen as non desireable/appealing to the western world previous our generation could be due to the media representing asian males as non ideal male partner. But kpop, anime and kdrama kind of challenge those ideas in modern days. It's kind of the same effect as a famous musician playing on the street, no one will stop to listen or recognise him/her, but if they perform on scene, people will pay lot to spectate. That's why I base my taste on the things I personally like, not the popular stuff. But I think you're right that different media introduced in other country could help spark up some interest, by showing them more on screen.

They even sent a team of animal rescuer's from AMERICA to rescue the dogs which they brought back to the U.S. This was shown on the news. I'm sure that it can also be googled.

Somebody once said “Koreans even hate themselves. They aren’t satisfied with how they look even. So never take their judgement personally.” It’s very true. When we love ourselves exactly the way we are, they’re shocked. Edit: in case this hurts anyone, I don’t mean all Koreans and def not Koreans who were raised abroad. This is a general statement considering the plastic surgery culture in Korea and also the obsession with being pale white, super skinny and looking “perfect” all the time. The last thing I want is hurt someone reading this.

Its honestly has a lot more to do with nationality. Korean people arent even too that open about dating other eastern asians either, even if they're light skinned. I'm Korean american and I never cared about this, but my parents were so livid when I brought in my light skinned hispanic boyfriend. Korean people culture is that they dont even wanna marry or date people who is not korean. Korea's culture is strict and they wanna find someone of that culture.. It's sad. Korean parents give so much problem to their kids when they bring poeple outside of their nationality. I knew someone who had a Chinese boyfriend and they were super angry and threatened to disown her

Not all korean parents are conservative we live in 2023 and there are many mixed couple in korea than you can imagine!!

I saw an interview with her when she was trying to get Korean’s opinions about her new song and those kids made me cry they were so open minded, honest and supportive! It was really cool to witness how they were encouraged and embraced her! I’m so happy those kids were the ones interviewed because some of these commenters are absolutely trash as fuk! She’s so pretty. As a black girl leaving my country for a completely different one from mine, I really experienced this. It’s weird, that people judged me based on my look and skin color before I even opened my mouth. I truly had to learn to accept myself wholly and fully and just block out the negatives and move on fr. Not everyone is for us, and I understood that real quick.

Yeah. Dating in Korea is a bit of a mess if you’re black or if you’re dark skinned. When I lived there, I tried the dating route and at some point, you’re gonna bump into a Korean or two in the dating scene because they’re the majority. When I realized I wasn’t viewed as a human being but a sexual object? I just decided to do the same. I never viewed them in a romantic/relationship sense because I knew they would never view me as such. Most of them are very superficial when it comes to relationships. It’s all about aesthetics, appearances, Instagram and being seen which could arguably be every couple out there but when you live in Korea and see how it is in real time, it’s a little weird. You’ll even ask some people, “okay, what do you like about this person or why are you dating them?”, the first mention would be their bodily features 😂🥴 You’ll go on some dates and people will literally tell you they love you when they just met you 5 minutes ago, like?? How?? 😂. But anyways, people would message me wanting to live their “pornstar” dreams because I’m black and only wanted to be FWB. Many of them, not all, view black people like this. When you ask them what they like about us, it’s always bodily features. “Oh they’re so strong, they have big 🍆 and big 🍑”, it’s never about the personality or how we are as human beings 😂 so I just decided to stop dating and just have a hoe phase cause finding a partner was never gonna materialise. The only foreigner that’s mostly viewed as suitable to be a life partner is a white person. I could write a book about dating in Korea. It’s unreal 😂And please, before you attack me, I know not all Koreans have this viewpoint. Also: this is one of the many reasons why I left Korea. Korea is a good place to visit, not to LIVE in. Take it in for a few days and then leave. Living there as a foreigner, ESPECIALLY as a black person, you will suffer and you will pay the price with your mental health.

As a beautiful black woman I wouldn’t change my F’n skin color for nothing! I think it’s a damn blessing to be this skin color and melanin is a commodity and a blessing. Everyday I wake up I’m thankful I’m this color. I would not want to be light skin no offense. Beauty comes in all colors but for me I want my melanin! My family had beautiful shiny dark skin with long black thick, coarse ,shiny hair. I was so envious and sad. In my playtime, I stayed outside and swung my towel on my head around my shoulders. This brought me joy in my imagination. I couldn't get darker no matter how I tried. I couldn't wear black hair because it made me even more pale. One day, I realized. From my knowledge, Korea is a country where you will be valued based on your looks and appearances. If you are beautiful, you are in and if you are not, then you are out. Not only that, they also have their own set of beauty standard and being fair skin is one of them. Just watch the K-drama, there are lots of them with the storyline where the so called ugly characters got bullied and treated badly but after he/she glowed up, the treatment got better. Even Korean themselves said that looks are the most important thing. Btw, she's super beautiful and I hope she met the right person.

Also if it was true, which it is not, what's the difference in Korean men being attracted to the women of our country? Considering Korea is a homogeneous country where 97% of our population is fully Korean. I've heard black people in the US say that they would NEVER date anyone outside of their race but no one has a problem with that. But if it is any other race people try to make it be a racist thing and that is sheer ignorance. Also it probably is not even remotely about her race it is most likely because she is really tall and the majority of Korean men are not really tall and like in most countries men seem to be more attracted to females who are shorter than they are. Many men here in Korea are a bit insecure about their height, some to the point of wearing shoes with hidden lifts in them to look taller.

Colorism of does exist in Korea, but a Korean guy in the comments said that a lot of Korean guys are self-conscious about their height so when another woman taller than approaches them, it’s kind of intimidating

The biggest issue is definitely her skin color. Asian countries tend to be hateful towards darker skin tones and will do anything to make themselves look pale.

Honestly you don’t want someone who is so prejudiced anyway. If they can’t live you for who you are, then maybe they aren’t for you. There are so many amazing Korean guys out there not only wouldn’t care about the foreigner nor skin color but rather prefer foreigners or black women. ❤

So does everyone. A fair skin girl is more attractive than dark skin in most countries in the world including in Africa. Black men go out of their race in the west more than other races. Nobody cries for an Asian or an Indian guy being less desirable than a white guy. They just get on with it. Short guy can't cry taller guys are more desired

@@SK-kh2rsthats because looks dont matter as much for guys. Having preferences about healthy body and nice hair is one thing, skin color is just sad. Features should determine attraction, like a nice nose, nice lips etc.
