I’m a 65 year old man, haven’t been with a woman since my ex left me with two young sons 13 years ago. I tried the online dating thing for awhile, but nobody was interested in a single father, and I rarely even got a response when I reached out, so I gave that up. My youngest son is now 21, and I’ve been hoping to meet someone special in an organic setting, but so far no luck. I’m financially stable, own my home, have zero debt, maintain good physical and mental fitness, and live a comfortable retired life, yet romance still eludes me. I’ve resigned myself to growing old alone, but wish everyone well that has found love late in life.

I know these tutorials are aimed at older ladies, but as an older man having difficulty meeting single older women, I find them very helpful and full of commonsense and positive advice. As a man, however, some of the Comments posted by other men are embarrassing. I'm not surprised that they can't find partners. Thanks again!

I got married in 1987 and my wife died in 2014. I never divorced, never broke up with any woman and carry no emotional baggage. I dearly loved my wife, but I must say at this phase in my life I just have no interest in dating or a relationship. I set up my retirement at 65 to have just enough money to pay monthly bills, not to have sufficient funds to travel or go out dating. I am just quite content at living alone and just relaxing at home all day. So don't be insulted if you approach a man in the 60's that just has no interest in any type of relationship with a man. It's no reflection on you. It's just that some of us men are happy with the piece and contentment of living alone and being a couch potato. Don't want women flitting or showing any interest in me. (Surprised to hear about men over 60 going to the gym, I never went to the gym in my life.)

I need support after my divorce years ago and feel so grateful I found numerous coaches to guide my process to healing and empowerment.

i am very positive and talk to everyone i have been single for many years. i did date a woman for about 5 weeks but she never smiled and made me feel lonelier than i am by myself. i live on the oregon coast. i havent met too many here as many dont want to be bothered with. my only downfall is i still smoke but i am healthy and fit and i enjoy the simple things in life. i am 65 years old and it isnt easy as one would think.

Pretty difficult at our age. I was happily married for 21 years. I'm still at a loss of why, or what happened. Maybe for some, love fades with time. Anyways, I'm healed up and ready, but it's tough. I've always looked after myself and been into living a healthy lifestyle. It's very hard to find a woman who cares about herself, as well as having things in common. Maybe I should join a gym in stead of working out in my basement at home :-) I love riding my motorcycle, but women that ride and look after themselves are far and few between.

Update: Not long after I wrote this, I found my person and she found me. We have a very healthy and understanding relationship. She works out and loves to go out for an occassional ride with me on my motorcycle. We are growing together.

The problem is you do eventually age out of the "dating market." The end of the line is before age 50. This is true for both sexes despite tons of nonsense about older men nabbing young women. After that, it is mostly an exercise in futility. Many men have chronic health problems, and those are the ones who are still alive. In my life, younger men just don't make the grade; I have never been attracted to them. If I ever meet somebody, great, but I am sure not at this point in my life wasting my time pursuing a man. I want to do my thing in the time I have left.

I'm a widower....12 years now. My experience is that most of the women I've met are divorced multiple times, heavily in debt, angry, entitled, and looking for someone with resources and assets to repair or improve their life. If they own property, they want you to be a "for free" handyman. Thanks, but no thanks. I date within 5 years of my age (65) and really enjoy the companionship, but I find I'm happier being single. Having said that, it sure would be great to find someone that brings as much tangible value to the relationship as I do....an equal,

Great advice Jaki...especially for women. The problem is so few women in New England ask questions or flirt with men to make it happen....their too busy glued to their cell phones and are generally so preoccupied that romance is not on their mind...its a real drag....American women particularly.

I'm 64, and new to the dating scene. Joined a 50+ dating site. I'm fairly attractive, educated, and friendly. Reached out to numerous men I considered my premium choices. Nothing. After a few months, lowered my standards. Not as handsome, shorter, older, ( up to 73 ), farther away. Reaching out, sending smiles, etc...Nothing...So frustrated. What's the matter with these guys??

I joined a dating site. I'm 64 been told I'm a good looking woman. .....that's seems to be my problem I guess not sure. I get so many beautiful compliments but no hits. Lol. I'm 5'11 and that seems to pose a problem as well. I'm taller than the average male. I'm gonna try smiling more if I can find someone to smile at. A lot of men my age seem to want to wait for the women to make the first move. I tried that too. Never hear back. I'm lost. Lol.....and lonely.

One of the things I find annoying and know this is pretty common, particularly among married women, is men's need to solve women's problems. Who knew? Really? It's shown constantly in every sit-com. Up until now I always thought a woman wanted a man to listen to her, show some empathy, not change the subject or try to jolly her up. But I guess it's alright to use your helplessness to lure a man into your web. Or is it only okay if you're over a certain age? It's manipulation, plain and simple. Is this what it's come to? How to trap a man circa 1970? I suppose it's easier if you live in an affluent area with lots of eligible wealthy men and you have the wherewithal to get nips, tucks and frequent salon visits. Nothing new here.

I work out every day since I was in elementary school. I always had a lot of energy. After moving to Hawaii in my early 20's I learned to surf and that kept me fit for 2 decades. It's a part of my lifestyle now. My husband and I work out together, we ski together, we hike and bike.We want to spend out life outdoors as much as possible. Working out is a form of meditation to me! Thanks for asking.

I am 63, too, never married, and I learned LONG ago, before I reached thirty, that I didn't need to center men in my existence. I had to focus on myself, when I moved to another state, and few men were out there anyway, and this was long before there was online dating. Too many Mormons, a very transient population (this was in Nevada). Went back to college as a nontraditional student instead, going for both a bachelor's and master's degree while working full-time for most of the time I went back to school, and I now do work I enjoy doing. I never looked back with any regrets. Only one person I should have had when I was in my early twenties, and I passed him over for an awful relationship with no future. I have reconnected with this person only in the past year, but whatever happens, happens. I have no desire to go out and waste my time otherwise "dating." NOBODY is entitled to "love" or a relationship. That is the thing you have to learn, and many women never, ever understand that simple truth.

I'm a 63 old guy.., into body building and fitness, have been for years, I take care of myself.....I look incredible....that being said...most women I've seen after 50 tend to let themselves "GO" are overweight, with short hair, unkempt, full of baggage, and out of shape. Due to this, I have little interest in this age group...this makes it tough for me due to my high expectation level. But good luck out there.

I'm 60 in a few months . Been widowed 24 years ago ( wasted years on the wrong man , and another lot of years on a man with terrific insecurities) . My patent never gave compliments or encouragement in anything. My dad particularly has made me believe that everyone I'd judging me ..he judged everyone . Because of that ..I'm nervous of being gossiped about , so hide myself away when it comes to being UPFRONT .

I'm a two time widower 60 now. Had 38 years of marriage never divorced. After my 1st wife died I asked out 7 women they all said no. I said I'm done, then a woman came after me. We got married, had 10 great years till cancer got her. So this time I've learned how this is done. I'm not going after anyone or try to win them over or prove myself to a woman. I'll wait till one comes around then she will be trying to prove herself. It's much easier to get someone when they are curious about you. I use no social media, no dating apps. Women talk to each other they know all about you. They are curious and sneaky.

1. Remember that you have already raised your adult children...let them live their own lives...you will always be Mom...but not mother hen. 2. Don't raise your Grandchildren...you raised your kids....let them raise theirs. 3. Skip the soccer games, dance recitals. kiddie lunches at school, choir performances, baseball games, water park outings etc etc …. you are not the Mom 4. Don't baby-sit you hired a sitter let your kids do the same. 5. Stop family vacations...it was fun when the kids were little....take vacations with your man and reinvent romance.

All you have said here is very nice ,,, but unfortunately life is not as simple as that ,, it comes with problems which stop us from wanting to meet someone nice to enjoy life together.. Problems like grown up children that need help,, sick elderly parents ,, work , financial problems, , health issues,, and more.... I am 62 and i have experienced some of these problems,, dating a nice lady a priority at the moment,,,......

If you governed yourself on a false belief system in your 20s and chose to be a busy trench for one or several bad boys (psycho's, narc's, drug addicts, smokers, alcholics, violent men). Do you want to govern yourself on false beliefs in the final chapter? Did you spit at the good Guys in your 20s were they too boring for you? There are men your age with money but its difficult to meet them because they don't want to meet you. If it seems men your age don't have game its because they are not interested in you.

When you're bantering, make sure it's evenly back & forth, not one person sarcastically one-upping the other. I've finally figured that out. Plus, tone/voice/word choice affects men more than we realize sometimes.

What you're saying is true. The bantering is always light-hearted and friendly. We both laugh while heading in separate directions. I've even had a lovely man spontaneously buy me a book at an art fair, then disappear into the crowd. A younger man told me that men assume I'm already attached so they don't pursue me. :-/

It seems the only women who want to flirt are married. I'm guessing they've been married a long time and are bored and want to know they are attractive to other men. 99% of the men I talk to my age in grocery stores are married. I guess all of them are good guys because at some point they mention something about their wives. It, also, may be because the median age in my city is 28. I am 57. And we have about a 60% married rate in general. In the larger city near me which is Dallas the median age is 30. My cut off I think is 45 and that might be low balling it. I just looked it up and nationally the median age is 37.7. I don't really want to move or at least now so I have to work with what I have I guess.
