This is the inside look at Datsun from a Japanese perspective. Modern home life mixed with the exploits of the car in racing, manufacturing, design, safety, engineering and through exports.
It's a company that's gone global and has built cars for all climates and terrains, from snow to desert and cities in between.

I had a new, 1971, Mandarin Orange Datsun 240-Z (4-speed manual transmission) bought at North Hill Datsun in Calgary, Alberta, Canada ($4,395 in Canadian dollars, I think). It was a wonderful sportscar. I'd had a silver one on order but an orange one came in sooner. My salesperson told me that silver is an old man's color and I changed my mind. I took delivery of the orange one, and I'm glad that I did. I wish that I still had it, but they were prone to rust so it probably would have rusted out long ago. I think the one featured in this video is a 1970 model (or a 1969?), due to the lack of functional side vents (where the logos are, behind the side rear quarter windows). The 1970 had vents on the rear hatchback, below the window. Jan

$3500 MSRP. You were lucky to get one for $5k. You are also forgetting that $10k was a pretty damn good annual salary in 1969

think about the following, if cars rejected at the time today are much loved and valuable, the same can happen with cars of today in the future, as long as you don't have a car you don't like take care of it.

Remind me not to get into an accident in a Datsun I'd like to live. Like the guy said "there're working on safety for the future" lol. What about the present time lol! O yea and it's good to see they had airbags in the early 70s. It only took Datsun 30 yrs to put them in the cars they sell. There're all about safety lol!!!

That footage was made may be early 1970s. We Koreans used to ignore Japans standard of living and their economic achievement. According to footage, Japanese home is larger than most of korean houses, early adaptaion of home appliances. Early industrialization makes difference. Anyway if Nissan remake their old car once again, I'll buy it. If air-bag and brand new high technologies adopted

well. we have our own cars and culture. These days we overcome most of Japan automakers. In the early 1990s, Hyundai motors import Mitsubishi's cars and engines. But now Mitsubishi is small company even Korean standard. Anyway, 1960s Nissan shows remarkable achievement.

JONGBUM PARK Korea has no car racing culture either...well not until recently. Japan since long ago has had Fuji Speedway. Car tuning culture. Korea never had it
