I made a pi pico version of this project but without the leds. Works great. I used kmk program as it was much easier for me than qmk. Great tutorial. Thank you.

I have finished this first part and it is amazing how you teach. Very clear. But would you add a basics also on how to add encoder, multiple encoders and how to program or add it to qmk?

Great video. In the later videos, can you show us how to make this setup a wireless or bluetooth with esp32 like boards? That would be amazing...🙏

I have never done that myself, but I might look into it. (I'm just not very interested in wireless peripherals as you still need to charge them)

@@DarkArtGuitars Thanks. New model laptops often comes with very little ports. If something like this can be wireless i would love it. Regardless of charcing inconvinience.

Cool video man. Want to make my own replacement PCB for the EK68 so I can get full fat QMK support on that KB. It's pretty basic out of the box with only 1 Fn Layer with a custom and very cut down VIA software. I should be able to get the best flexibility and speed with the rp2040 I reckon.

What are the up and down arrows when it comes to VCC and GND? also does it matter what GND you connect to or do you need to connect to all of the GND1-3?

19:40 You know you can set your x,y grid spacing to be (19.05mm / 24 steps) which equals 0.79375 mm right? That will give you optimal grid spacing to line up these switches by dragging them next to each other.

Can I use esp8226 or esp32? I'm still have no idea if they can use as an alternative for microcontroller. I'm beginners 😂

It is technically possible, but because they don't have native usb integrated but instead a uart to usb bridge it is not as straight forward as with atmega32u4 based boards. You can get arduino pro micros for less than $5 on aliexpress and I've not had an issue with them so far, so the cost savings would likely not be worth the extra hassle.

why did you put resistor on led input? no need that

The datasheet for the led calls for it, I'm assuming it's to limit current in case sth goes wrong. Might also work without but easy enough to add.

A great video. I think If you need to skip stuff to save time during the tutorial it would be nice to show the thing done with for example 2x or 3x speed. This way your video doesn't get too long and you still show the thing in the video.
