Strangers on the bus, college, churchies, family members, coworkers, heck people on the street, customers when I'm trapped in my departnent. A handful in their seemed kinda content. Only one, ONE single solitary man spoke of his wife like she was a gift, like their marriage improved life, like it was something that got them both through the bad, and was something to simply and truly enjoy in the good. All I've heard my grandparents say to each other is my grandpa making rude demands and my grandma finally getting sick of it. One day after he demanded a sandwich and told her "Where's my goddamn sandwich?" After about 10 minutes from the first time he asked her she brought him a sandwich and as he was eating it he said it was salty and my Grandma smiled and said, ,"Of course it is. I wiped it on my armpits." He didn't believe her and then she said, "I did and if you don't like it make your own damn sandwich." My grandma was a saint. She was such a sweet and loving person who took care of everyone and was constantly baking, so it was so funny to watch her finally fight back against the tyrant she was stuck with most of her life. She divorced him like a week later, handed him divorce papers after he joked to my dad that he's "been trying to get rid of this one for years." My grandpa died alone, living in a busted trailer a few years later. My grandma lived another 20 years, comfy in bed, surrounded by her loved ones. ❤

@@stellviahohenheim the Bible defines love as God. God is love. In order to truly love someone you need Jesus in your heart. Otherwise it's only selfish love.... "I love you" only means "you make me happy". Real love is sacrificial. Even if the other person hurts you, you still want what's best for them. That's true love. That's how God loves us. @@dflaming1371That makes me so sad. I’ve seen it, though, in my own family. I think that the people who are truly appreciative of and happy with their spouses don’t feel the need to tell everyone. People who are bitter always seem to want to spread it around and make others just as miserable and they like to scare people less experienced about what might happen in the future. I will say that my husband is definitely not perfect and he definitely annoys the hell out of me sometimes, but he absolutely is a great, kind person who puts up with me, so I am happy to do the same.
