Coming from a dynamic where my father is this way its very complex. The dad and the husband are two different entities. & while they do overlap eliminating the existence of a parent in your life is hard. Especially when they have changed and are working on being a better version of themself. If we cut off our parents for every mistake many of us would not have any interaction with them at all. It hurts us and of course you want to stand in solidarity with your mother and there is resentment that is built when you may learn the things that she went through as a woman. It’s soul crushing but it also would have been soul crushing to be a little girl growing up without a father who showed up for her. It’s hard and I’m still processing the forgiveness for him and mourning the young woman for her. & I’m almost 30

Hopefully he isn't in your family's life anymore. That feels so much more intrusive, that it might also be illegal, depending on how much he's watching. Did he see you changing? There's a law based on a girl whose stepfather was spying on her changing in her room through her webcam years ago. I believe he got arrested after they made the law.

Because no one should have access to every move you make in your own life. That's called being controlling or living vicariously through your child. Your children are your their own people. Constantly monitoring them is dictator like and makes them appreciate you less as a person because they don't even act like they trust you or care about your own rights. This is coming from someone who has parental monitoring on everything. No child should only have the bathroom or shower as a source of privacy.

Just from watching the video, she's obviously been through a lot and who knows what else she's been through that we haven't seen in the video. It's likely she's lived through several traumatic experiences and is doing what she thinks will help prevent her kids from similar experiences. I don't think it's her trying to be controlling, but a trauma response she likely needs to work through. Just an assumption and obviously not a justification. As someone from the same generation as these girls and who had a mom who invaded my privacy, now that I’m older and I’m thinking about having my own kids and thinking about all the scary things that have happened to me on the internet and just with my cell phone, I don’t blame my mom as much anymore. And I will probably have a level of monitoring on my own children, because you can teach your child over and over stranger danger but just like the girl in this video curiosity got the best of her and she was going to meet a random stranger. If anyone sits here and thinks “my child would never do that” you are wrong. Children have to have the privacy invaded to a certain level to ensure their safety.

@Random_Being1 there's a lot going on behind the scenes that they never address like attacking black creators (Aba and Preach) then trying to strike their channel down with false copyright claims on the same exact content Jubilee will celebrate and encourage from white creators. They've never given Thoraya credit for her video formats and they've never invited her on to host. The people they promote and work with are no different from the people they're ignoring or attacking except for their race. Even when it comes to followers Jubilee works with smaller and bigger creators BUT only white and Asian. They've worked with PewDiePie, Cody Ko, Nut, and Gen on things they've attacked Aba and Preach for while copying Thorayas secrets series with no credit or even allowing her to host an episode.

I wasn't allowed to have social media as a kid without my parents, also being able to access it whenever. It was told to me that they could check it. I do not think it's unreasonable for parents to check that and to monitor their child's exposure to things online. I do think it's unreasonable to put spyware on your families items. That's wild.

I relate alot to Taia and Artista. I also grew up in a home where domestic abuse was happening and we had to leave home alot, but my mom really wanted us to have a two parent home. My dad eventually got disgnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and ptsd and once he got the help he needed it did get a lot better and they’re both amazing parents to this day. ❤

That's amazing 💜 so glad your dad was able to get help too. Noone deserves to suffer abuse from someone they love. But we were young and he had an undiagnosed mental illness and was overlooked by healthcare professionals. Sad that people who just need help, often go so long before receiving diagnosis's that can explain and get much needed treatment. Taia's Dad is so much better on his medication and I'm grateful he got the help he needed so he could be there for the kids when they were older.

The privacy thing is such a mixed bag because we all want our privacy and autonomy, but at the same time almost everyone can think back on a time where they wanted nothing more than to get away with stuff they knew they shouldn’t do. The spying is intrusive, but the one girl admitted to completely ignoring the stranger danger talk for some ice cream. You have to be honest with how much you trust your kid/how much you know you should be trusted.

people need to realize the hate relationship a girl has with their mother even if the daughter doesn’t want it. it’s very common sometimes i feel like a terrible person talking about my own mom but she starts a lot of arguments. i try and talk to her but she just finds ways for me to stop talking to her. sometimes i think about how somebody could have such a bad relationship with their own children because of jealousy.

I feel like the privacy thing is tricky, and this is coming from a mom that allows total privacy to my kids and I never go through their devices or journals. But the internet is a whole world of things to be nervous about for your kids. It’s not just about their personal thoughts or conversations, but about all the dangerous people out there that can connect with them. So I can understand to some extent the difficulty parents have offering full privacy.
